I wholeheartedly completely agree that it isn't the love triangle, it's the sequence of the story itself given it's a 10 Episode drama. Writernim took a 16 Ep drama and has tried to squish it into 10 eps. The formula doesn't work, expecially considering 3 episodes are devoted to the Ex/Japan scenario. Sure, the viewers needed the info of who he is, her stupid decision, blah, blabla, but it didn't need 3 episodes out of 10 to be delivered. Also considering how the majority of Korean dramas have a very rushed ending, so that takes 4 eps out of 10.

Those rating less than a 10 probably know if they'd watched a MASTERPIECE or not, and I think they're intelligent to have gotten the plot, and liked it, as the rating is an 8.4.
Masterpieces (a 10) have NO FLAWS in any area; writing, direction, casting, cinematography, editing, music & bgm, etc.

No, he doesn't deserve an Oscar. The Oscar is American. He doesn't need American validation. The Golden Rooster Awards and the Golden Horse Awards are the eqivalent in China. He deserves any award from those two or at the Hong Kong Film Awards, Shanghai Film Critics Awards, Huading Awards, Hundred Flowers Awards, or Asian Film Awards.

It's the same across the entertainment industry whether it's Netflix or not. Quality of writing is equivalent to what the masses expect, and they aren't expecting anything better.
I wish I knew the exact year the shift accured. I've also dropped more dramas this year, or haven't been interested after reading the synopsis & comments. Same old wrapped in dif paper.
I've leaned more towards the older ones. Still kicking myself for rating some higher than they should've been, but at the time it was all about my feels, and not the writing, direction, etc.
