You could add that the drama has dif directors, dif scriptwriters, and a dif cast which makes the drama an entirely new drama that doesn't have to follow along with (the movie) Miss Granny 2014.

Came here while deciding whether to pick Iron Family back up or move it to the dropped pile. After looking at her dozen previous works, one would think she'd have gotten much much much better in the last 11 years. But from what I'm reading she hasn't, even with When The Stars Gossip.

There's been no uproar over this or controversy in SK because they understood what was said. Their ears are attuned to Hangul because they speak Hangul. They heard what the newscaster said and the news header and chyron, all three, confirmed that what the International viewers READ in the SUBTITLES were a mistranslation BY NETFLIX.

I understand it's easier to rail against the little people and not those in power. I do understand it's easier to spew your anger at everyone else BUT Netflix. Feeding your anger at anyone other than Netflix is not helping the Palestinians. Go directly to the source of the problem...NETFLIX.

This is The Moment when Netflix should be called out for their years' long mistranslations, especially culminating in this, and to be boycotted.

I'd unBlocked everyone in my list several months back. Now it's filling up again because of this. Anyone who includes politics in their comments are being Blocked, regardless of which 'side' they're on. MDL is an Asian drama and movie lovers site, not a political forum.

THAT is completely questionable. Was it intentional, or was it an overlook of the translator, not fully understanding Hangul, by Netflix? If the first then I'll be unsubscribing, and not specifically bc of this one incident. If the latter, then Netflix isn't as 'all masterful' as they think they are.

I'm inclined to think it's the first for more reasons than just one.

Xenophobia can take subtle forms, even towards a country one has invested in, such as South Korea. NF has MBC under its thumb so why would MBC say anything about the scene being mistranslated when they'd essentially be chastising their money maker.

Netflix has butchered Hangul so frequently that I was surprised the hate wasn't for Netflix rather than everyone BUT Netflix.

The translation that Netflix provided turned what you heard completely on its head to mean the exact opposite. Those who speak Hangul have confirmed the translation wasn't what was said.

What you heard from the news announcer matched the text behind the announcer and the chyron at the bottom of the newscast. What the International viewers heard was the opposite and didn't match the text nor the chyron.

"Is there really such problem on MDL? I mean bot accounts?" Yes, and they're easily found. Check the initial User's comment, then the date of MDL acct opened, then their Friend's list.IF any friends then those too will usually have 'empty' profiles. Also the dates if there are any (usually not) dramas or movies they've watched. Some accts add dramas or movies to appear legit. If they aren't active under Articles, Feeds, Discussion, or have a basically empty profile then the acct is a bot/troll.

I've been an MDL user for just 2 years, and have reported numerous 'political' comments, and others, that haven't a single solitary thing to do with a drama or movie from the countries MDL has listed under their Terms of Service. Yet, MDL chose not to deal with those comments, and here we are. Too few employees? Doesn't care? It seems MDL focuses on SPAM, first and foremost. Too bad, so sad also seems to be their current motto.

@Hafsah "It seems they are now aware of the situation. Perhaps in a few days, they will address it if there truly was a mistranslation." That would be the dog biting the hand that feeds it. I don't see MBC putting the blame on the mistranslation when Netflix provided the translation.

There have been multiple users who are Korean. who live in Korea, who speak the Korean language Hangul, who can read their language, and they've ALL said the translations Netflix provided were wrong.

NETFLIX IS AT FAULT HERE. Rage at Netflix. Rage at the translation. Boycott Netflix. Or is it much easier for you to take your anger out on others who don't have control over the translations? Your anger is misplaced.

Boycott the actress Jang Gyuri? Why? She read what the script said which was mistranslated on Netflix. Shouldn't the boycott be directed towards Netflix and its translations?
