I'm going to come slithering back for another peek after hearing that Nuea turns out to be a bit of a "freak" whatever that means. lol Can't be anything but good. And I'll have my trust FF button at the ready. But I stand by what I've written about the screaming stereotypes in this show; the worst thing about it.

SWEETNESS.

I watched this a while back when first discovering BL and soaking in two or three a day sometimes. I had forgotten how much I liked this one. It is a great example of what can be achieved on a low budget if you have the right actors, story and a big heart right at the center of it all. I actually teared up a number of times, especially when Eak was alone crying and then at the end. That was a beautiful open ending that isn't really so open. :)

Both leads are adorable/cute but also good actors. I was fascinated by how I could tell what Toey was feeling whenever he was reading a book or looking at the computer screen. There was NO over-acting that I saw; they were understated, naturalistic and totally convincing. Very impressive for such young actors. I wonder what's become of them?

Mike is kind of a weird character: One minute he seemed really kind and nice, and the next he seemed sleazy and manipulative. Maybe both?

Graded for what it IS, not expectations of what someone expected it to be...oh hell: 9/10. :)

I think it's internalized homophobia aimed at the "bottom." A wife is seen as subservient, weaker, in need of protection, dumber, more emotional, unreasonable, etc. So it is also a twisted form of mysogeny. SIf they think it's "funny" why don't they switch back and forth, which never happens?

oooh...creepiness, freakiness, nakedness...sounds like I need to give this another shot. I tried to get through ep 3. I wasn't creeped out, just got sick of the screaming queen stereotypes...kind of like Toh being a damsel in distress. But if it gets kinky, I'm down for that...

Well, you never know, I might be back, especially after reading your intriguing comment. That's what the FF button is for, right? :D Nuea is a "freak?" THAT sparks my curiosity. :D What am I missing about Toh's collecting things that Nuea has touched or whatever that freaks people out? It's not as though he is collecting Nuea's used toilet paper or something...or does that come up in a later episode? ;)

It's hilarious you think this screamer-fest has "broken stereotypes." lol It has done little other than REINFORCE stereotypes. None of the effeminate guys in this show feel like human beings, other than that they are human beings who are pretending to be and acting the way they think they are SUPPOSED to because they are gay. Their entire schtick is centuries old, screaming, mincing, tittering, same ol', same ol and you think this is original work? That these characters are individuals? They all act the same.

I have no idea how old you are, but do you know what a "minstrel show" is? Google if you want but it was a type of performance/music/songs/etc. put on by traveling groups of Black folks after the Civil War and probably into the 20th century too. Those Black performers carried on in every white southern bigot's idea of what Black folks were like, acting stupid as shit, bumbling/shuffling around, talking like ignorant sharecroppers with all the speech stereotypes you can imagine. It was horrible and thankfully as the 20th century progressed, they faded away.

To me, this show has about seven or eight Gay Minstrels putting on a show based on an ignorant bigot's concepts of how gay people behave. I hate the word "offensive," as it is so overused these days, but that's what this show is to me. Also, not funny, slow-paced and poorly written/directed/acted. Therefore I am dropping it. But please do carry on and watch the whole thing. Have fun!

The supposed slapstick comedy isn't very funny.
Dressing like French maids to clean Toh's room? No.
BTW... Toh's hoarding of memorabilia from encounters with Nuea comes off as eccentric and harmless to me, not "creepy" like someone below with a stick up their butt said earlier.
Toh isn't nearly adorable/cute enough to get away with the way he is acting, which is weird, not charmingly goofy. He is acting so weird in the "looking at pics on the puter" scene that I don't buy that a guy like Nuea would stick around. I mean, Nuea selects one photo and it takes Toh a full minute to regain what little composure he had just from hearing Nuea's voice.
Too bad. Nuea's cute. The developing side couple are kind of cute. The powder blue uniforms are cute. Saint, who is getting better looking with each year of maturity, is cute. But this show is not cute.

I explained why I believe it is put-on in some situations and taken-off in others; I've seen it a thousand times. I never wrote that you said they can't have a serious talk. What the hell are you talking about? lol

I don't have any close friends who carry on like the three in this series do. It's exhausting to be around and I prefer people who don't find it necessary to hide behind cliche masks when they are interacting with me. I would feel like I never got to know them; I was just watching this endless performance.
