Hahahha…there the pace of mini drama, one moment in danger and next moment resolved and make out, they progress fast…that kiss and confession at ep 14.😍

The novel is actually more intense and serious. Initially I thought the drama will take that direction too from the trailers, but then after watching till ep17, I do feel that the director and script here focus more on humour and Rom. Com. I am pretty okay with it and nice to see that the drama still keep some of the iconic scenes from the novel.
Highly recommend reading the novel too.

Such tropes are always under strict scrutiny and script can be shelved easily. So most directors and production team chose to ask their scriptwriter to re-write the story to avoid such scrutiny so the drama can pass fast and release fast. Those titles you mentioned were lucky and often they use the element of dream or the characters are written as a storyboard and there is a real life they woke up from or being extremely vague about the ‘rebirth’ element.

As below explained by another commenter, how certain dramas dodge the censorship, by showing the possibility of the characters being in a dream or it’s a script and not the real world. So the dramas yoy mentioned, all uses that concept. And for some directors, in order to avoid such issues, they chooses to ask their screenwriters to re-write the original story so to avoid too much scrutiny and can pass censorship faster, which is why the Legend of Female General was done that way, it’s the director and production team’s choice.

That is also partly why I feel that FL couldnt see herself confessing to him as he is perfect and beyond reach to her. At this point, she is still not so sure that his niceness, was it part of the act as their couple roles or was he truly nice to her.

This drama is based on a DongHwa animation, so at current series, it only shows the ML’s cultuvation journey at a beginning stage, so I would say that it’s not exactly an ending. We all hope there will be more seasons, but so far there is no confirmation of season 2 and it’s not been filmed yet.

Hahhaha…my personal bias, after watching lots of smart FL of late, I have lower tolerance for a FL character that is written as this. But like you said, she fits in the team well.

She acts okay, and I have the same problem with her dubbed voice and how her character was written, wish they could have write her better and not just the muscle for the team😅.
