So first case, we have a female bride being beheaded because of a heartless man. Second case we have lots more female bones being found…what’s this show about abusing women!!!??? So glad we have a righteous and heroic FL to help their cases come to light.
subs are actually fast bcs of bad directing. the story itself is decent.
The two family are betrothed by the Emperor. The son that escort the bride is the concubine son (youngest son) as it was first uncovered that the oldest son who was suppose to escort the bride had a leg injury (which later we know that it’s because he admit to having an affair with bride and was punished with broken leg). However the biggest twist was all along the youngest son who was the one who had the affair with the bride, got her pregnant and also murdered her.
MuDan is so capable and she really can do so much…personally I prefer the writing in season 1 or first part of the story, this second season just has a lot more convenient plot devices. But overall a good show. I wonder how it would be if they have done this whole story in 40ep.
I am done with this. Binged it in two days with sleep deprived because every ep just keeps me going. And agreed with the viewers here. This is an underrated gem. The story telling is coherent, no drag, the characters are clear and actors are well casted. The scenes and sets are beautifully done, even the fights scenes are neat and well choreographed. There are various layers to this story, one can follow the murder mystery, or the deeper struggles of women in those times, there are the corrupted in power abusing the poor. Women being the common victims learning to empower themselves and you see many strong women in this show. Even the ML are pretty much guided by his wife’s soul. I didn’t see much of FL’s previous work, mostly remembered her as supportive roles, first time seeing her as main lead, this role suits her. It’s an empowering and hopeful story for those dark times.
