I have a question. For someone who loves Supernatural (the American show) does this series hold up? Obviously,…
IMO, you really can’t watch it from the lens of Western supernatural horror. It’s is very different from the Supernatural series. You may want to enjoy this like an Eastern ghost/demon story, more like “The Chinese ghost” story if you are familiar with that. To me it feels more like a Japanese folk tale of Yokai.
Personally, I notice on MDL anyway, dramas that feature court intrigue, in-fighting between relatives that fall…
Totally agreed. Recently in MDL, there has been fandom war and indeed the ratings do not reflect the actual quality of the drama. I also strongly support a good story telling, with realistic acting and with effort on the whole set are important factors for a good drama to be appealing to me. So I normally don’t based my drama watch on MDL ratings.

Interesting analysis. Yeah I do noticed horror and mystery tend to have lower ratings. It reflect the type of crowd in MDL but May not the majority. And k drama tends to have higher ratings compare to c drama🤷🏻♀️.
OMG I never thought I'd be so freaked out by a pear!!!😅😱🫣
I used to know of an old folk legend of slicing apple skin unbroken, in front of mirror at midnight, to see your future husband. Now I am looking at pears differently too🤣🤣🤣.
So do you know, is he the little boy that Ban Xia talk about in her dreams?
I found another one movie released in Mar 2021, titled “Demon Hunter Yan ChiXia”, however the premise of the story is different. That Demon Hunter, Yan Chi Xia’s character was based on an old Hong Kong movie “Chinese Ghost story”.
Pan's labyrinth was wayyyy wayyy more creepy and eerie and not the same vibe in my opinion because you knew it…
Yes agreed, it’s story and characters have many layers. It’s realism of story telling based on the mystical imagination. It’s a tragic end because of the time and circumstances. And that lullaby haunts me for a long time😅.
Actually, what exactly is Pei Dafu’s faction? Why are they trying to arrest his adopted son? And how is all…
Pei DaFu is a Eunch, he has been embezzling government money through his side and illegal business. The Emperor has been trying to investigate him but he hide his evidences so well and he also has cahoot with many high official, hence ML was sent to be undercover to find more evidences on him in order to charge him. Even after he died, they have charged him, they can’t find his embezzlement funds, that’s where FL’s father played such a crucial role for him.
There is a definitely a lack of respect and caring on her part. She basically dismisses him just because he has…
I can accept flawed FL and green flag ML. But I can’t tolerate poor story telling on tolerating such tropes in love has to be compromise and acceptance and ML has to wholeheartedly accept and forgive FL because of love. Thats not a healthy portrayal of relationship. There has to be a proper growth arc needed for both FL and ML character. Toxic dynamic should not be condoned as acceptable. So far the writer has been showing us the all forgiving ML and the flaws of FL that hasn’t seen any grow and likeable-ness. I wondered why this is written that way.
