Yeah there isn't plot similarity. For me it's much more low-resolution. To me they are similar if they both look like idol dramas, and have similar level of plot, acting, and production. 😂
Interesting. A Familiar Stranger Didn't Come to Mind. I thought more An Ancient Love Song.
Haven't watched AALS yet, so only had AFS for comparison. And for me AFS is a good measurement tool as it distills the essence of an idol drama by the virtue of its 3-hour length. If I was more into the romantic tropes I'd be more engaged for the ride through the longer scenic route. But without such a preference, I'm left vexing over all the defects of the drama.
In contrast, comedy engages me enough where I'm willing to overlook a lot of flaws. It just needs to make me laugh and I will ignore all sorts of nonsense plot, weak acting, and bad production in the mean time.
Just as most MDL viewers will find romance/intimacy artificial without the chemistry, I find chemistry artificial without compelling characters, motivation, and story. Hence my inherent issue with idol dramas.
I'm on episode twelve, does chulan's seal refer to his d*ck?💀
No, it something that seals his full power. But apparently one of the ways to unlock it is through losing his virginity 🤣. It's one of those elements where they mix the serious with facetious and use as joke material.
Regarding the last episode, I'm not sure if the others were actually *physically* present. I think they may have been there in spirit with their Qi pulled in by Qi Apotheosis. It's a theory, the exact details are not fully explained as there are future seasons to further reveal the mysteries.
maybe older adults feel the same about young leads?
Yeah I wish the cdrama landscape is less bifurcated between web dramas (young idol heavy) and tv/proper dramas (prop heavy and often not translated). Whereas the later often feature older and better actors and more serious scripts, they tend also to be more conservative in script and message.
And then web dramas suffer from young idol actors not being able to carry the role and trope-heavy stories. I would estimate probably 60-80% of interesting stories (especially realistic modern stories) aren't being told because of a censorship and idol-heavy profit model. 🤡🤡
I need to know...what does Elvis Han character do for a living...lol. I never watched a cdrama or kdrama without…
Investment banking / private equity. i.e. super competitive 0.1% elite job, and she's in top law firm 1%. Neither are from wealthy families but are very successful strivers working their butt off in stressful jobs.
Can somebody tell me what is in special episode? I don't buy express from youku. Vip can only watch till ep. 27.…
Like others said, it's BTS and available on the interwebs. I really like the BTS as it really made me appreciate how dedicated and wholesome the actors and production team is.
I would say no, and it also happens in the early episodes, so just watch it and you can decide when you get to it. I did notice that Youtube versions are not great, and often have the sound cut off, so finding better versions would also be helpful.
