It's unclear but plausible. Some sort of link had been opened up to the Valley of 24 by whatever the Granny and ZCL was doing and you are shown scenes where the other characters notice it. Was ZCL able to receive Qi due to Qi Apotheosis or something else is not explained. And there are other mysteries like Baobao, her father, and Jiashen. We'll have to find out in future seasons.

Could only vouch for JoL, which is a superb show. The rest I either can't comment because I've not seen. Or, more typically, I think you should kill with fire just based on the title and poster.

Sword Snow Stride, Joy of Life, Legend of Condor Heroes, Return of Condor Heroes. These are all 'soft' harems though, as multiple females will fall for the male lead, but he's still about the FL, like this one.

Technically this is the final installment of the Condor Heroes trilogy, even though they can be viewed independently and are only loosely connected.

Agree with the other response that -er is the most prevalent in the North, though also used throughout China. I think it's the reverse for Ah-, which is more prevalent in the South, especially Cantonese regions. And Ah- is not necessarily diminutive, more 'casualize', as it can be used for someone older or higher status. (I'm not Cantonese though so could be wrong). Repeater I feel generally indicate a more familiar relationship, especially common among relatives. I would consider them all as 'casualizers', and they can be endearing, ironic, or insulting depending on the usage context and tone of voice.

One interesting example that comes to mind is 小姐姐 'xiao jiejie' , 'little older sister'. It avoids xiaojie, which has become an euphemism for hooker; it avoids jiejie because girls don't want to feel too old; but also something with 'mei' may also lack the respect. So xiaojiejie--older, but still young and beautiful, but also respected.

They probably do to a degree, but it's definitely not a direct route, I'm on ep16 and they haven't done that yet, but seems to do so later in S1. Also keep in mind there will be a season 2.

There will be some big reveals, and while there will be evil antagonists, I suspect the ultimate source of conflict is more complicated (which adds layer to the show). I think ep 10-11 will give a lot of clues.

Seems like you are struggling with the show a bit. I guess it's a different style than the typical cdrama in recent years. I love it though, it reminds of Stephen Chow humor/movies with its vibe.

They reveal a bit of her mysterious background ep10-11. Her memory and emotions were wiped. But keep watching, she's hilarious and you'll love her. She's skyrocketed to one of my all time favorite characters.

There's the overdone trope of woman falling in love with a man (who's actually a woman in obvious disguise). So this show has a woman disguised as a man, falling for another woman disguised as a man.

It's a not-too-serious fun show that hooks you with the laughs and manages to deliver a story that's actually coherent in its core. But not getting enough viewing or rating love though... tsk tsk

Curious about how they compare. They seem to be similar types of shows, but I haven't seen many kdramas to have a general idea.

Definitely underrated, it should be 8.5+ by MDL standards. For reference I think it's better than Mysterious Lotus Casebook and Blood of Youth, two solid shows, not to mention countless romcoms that I didn't watch.

And yeah, despite being comedy and absurdity first, this show actually managed to retain a solid main plotline. It also managed to incorporate some relevant aspects of a mature romantic relationship and actually presented female empowerment with much more nuance than shows where Woman Power was the schtick.

You can add 'Egg and Stone' and 'I Am Nobody' to your list as well, avoids the pervasive gratuitous romance trash

Yeah, and imagine if there was no censorship and review board. This silly-fun action, non-political show almost got killed. And probably would have been edgier if given complete creative freedom.

And all the other interesting shows, even genres that never gets made.

Emphatic yes from me. But it's definitely humor first and other thing secondary (though surprisingly decent). It's similar to a Stephen Chow or Will Ferrell show in silly humor. I've a few more episodes to go before finishing, but I would still recommend even if it had the worst ending possible, simply because it's already given me plenty of laughs. One of the funniest cdrama of 2023.

I suggest giving it 2-3 episodes, if the humor is not your thing, drop it. If you found it funny, then you'll like the rest and it will be worth it. Though if you already have plenty of dramas on your plate, it might be better to save this as a slump/withdrawal buster. I would guess I Am Nobody is probably better and also very funny, so I'd strategically stagger the two.

It's mostly a parody to be enjoyed for the funny, with a surprisingly coherent plot line underneath. Think Austin Powers and Will Ferrell movies.
