I’m on episode 6; can I ask why FBB is so robotic? And in what episode do they come together to fight whomever…
They reveal a bit of her mysterious background ep10-11. Her memory and emotions were wiped. But keep watching, she's hilarious and you'll love her. She's skyrocketed to one of my all time favorite characters.
Episode 11* xing chen to Bu ting: since I can't hold your hand, we both can just hold the branch... Bu ting keeps…
There's the overdone trope of woman falling in love with a man (who's actually a woman in obvious disguise). So this show has a woman disguised as a man, falling for another woman disguised as a man.
I dont want to swear but I really never ever thought I was going to watch such a slapstick when I click play for…
It's a not-too-serious fun show that hooks you with the laughs and manages to deliver a story that's actually coherent in its core. But not getting enough viewing or rating love though... tsk tsk
I think this drama is underrated, but I went into this with no expectations. I felt the like romance scenes were…
Definitely underrated, it should be 8.5+ by MDL standards. For reference I think it's better than Mysterious Lotus Casebook and Blood of Youth, two solid shows, not to mention countless romcoms that I didn't watch.
And yeah, despite being comedy and absurdity first, this show actually managed to retain a solid main plotline. It also managed to incorporate some relevant aspects of a mature romantic relationship and actually presented female empowerment with much more nuance than shows where Woman Power was the schtick.
Kinda surprised this drama is topping the lists in China with almost new / rookie against some popular actors…
Yeah, and imagine if there was no censorship and review board. This silly-fun action, non-political show almost got killed. And probably would have been edgier if given complete creative freedom.
And all the other interesting shows, even genres that never gets made.
Final analysis is this worth me watching. I started episode 1 and stopped 1/2 through. Honest thoughts please.
Emphatic yes from me. But it's definitely humor first and other thing secondary (though surprisingly decent). It's similar to a Stephen Chow or Will Ferrell show in silly humor. I've a few more episodes to go before finishing, but I would still recommend even if it had the worst ending possible, simply because it's already given me plenty of laughs. One of the funniest cdrama of 2023.
I suggest giving it 2-3 episodes, if the humor is not your thing, drop it. If you found it funny, then you'll like the rest and it will be worth it. Though if you already have plenty of dramas on your plate, it might be better to save this as a slump/withdrawal buster. I would guess I Am Nobody is probably better and also very funny, so I'd strategically stagger the two.
oh sorry, I read it as SFL and FL connection. And there were funny gags about that.
As far as SML he doesn't seem to be a serious candidate for the FL. Unless he's the Masked Hero, which the FL had a crush on since youth. But the identity of masked hero is unclear
Am I the only one who just feels it weird and enjoyable (at the same time) Caesar doing a comedy drama like I…
First time seeing him and I'm pleasantly surprised. I'd have assumed that he's some 3rd tier pretty-faced idol actor, meaning he probably has even less acting ability than the typical idol actor.
But he's really playing into the role and showing good range and subtlety for comedy and serious scenes. Given how even tier 1 idol actors have adequate acting at best, Caesar definitely has the talent/looks for lead roles in Tier 1 dramas.
I have seen 12 episodes so far and I like the female lead, Xu Lu's presentation of the character Xing chen...…
Yeah even though this show's priority is comedy and gags first, I've also been impressed with the amount of plot and characterization that it's been able to deliver.
In many ways, Xing Chen's subversion of the powerful female trope actually makes it more realistic and human, and shows the more relatable journey of her growing as a person and others helping in the process.
Haven't seen much of the Xu Lu and seems like she hasn't gotten many prominent roles. But I liked her here and she delivered in both the comedic and serious scenes. Also even though this is a light-hearted show, it's stayed away from artificial filters, overdubbing, and Xu Lu was allowed to look 'ugly' for the comedy and realism.
Forgive my ignorance. I watched this Nirvana on fire when it came out originally. Why is it becoming relevant…
It's always relevant because it's widely considered peak cdrama (last 10 years). There's already a NiF2 from 2017. It's not a s2 as it's set 50 years after NiF.
And there's additional buzz as NiF3 is filming right now, for a highly anticipated 2024 release. (note: script is finished, expected to film, but hasn't started filming yet)

Total parody and mockery of the idol drama male disguise routine.
