The victims of chineese goverment censorship 1-immortality (series)2-eternal faith (series )3-winner is king (series)4-chasing…
So Eternal Faith and Immortality (I'm waiting for those two) are hold by censors now? I would put Addicted as no. 1, bc it wasn't even season 2 - the drama was just cut in the middle...
Anyone can tell me if The Untamed is as good as this drama? I am almost finishing Word of Honor and I must say…
So you guys say The Untamed is better for you? It's def Word of honor for me :D I mean, I was starting The Untamed a few times and it was rather tough nut with all those names, curtesy name, clans and so on... And I wasn't sure what is even happening XD So I went for the novel and that helped a lot. The story is so strong and well-thought-out, I'm a huge fan of it. (Just not the fan of the author's inconsistency of what genre she'd like to write^^") Only then I could enjoy the drama, but the ending really left me with regret. It's also a good drama afterall but not as good as Word of honor. I might be wrong here but Word of honor has more literature's references and small symbols and details which are easy missed while we read the subtitles XD There're yt videos explaining them.
Hi, Not Your Oppa! Thanks a lot for your comment. About the tree: The Double has many non-explicit narratives.…
You're really commited. To answer almost every comment here with such detailed replies is very commendable :) I'm wondering if Chinese viewers, while seeing those scenes, at once link the plum tree to hope and perseverance, and buddhist meaning of the white horse. Is it crystal clear for them? As I've noticed the existance of the tree, I also was like "hmm white horse again". It was not only Duke Su, but also Xue Fangfei after being rescued for kidnapping rode it, and a moment later rides it again to help Xiao Heng who was left on his own - a great scene! Maybe I didn't choose the best words with "fantasy". Wasn't Fangfei depicted there as some kind of goddess? Fantasy or supernatural, none of them matched this moment in this drama for me. Just personal opinion :) I didn't "mind" her playing with bloody fingers (although I've never thought it might be a common thing for musicians, like you've said), I mind she was totally fine afterwards and no one noticed she's hurt. This and that, but I think I'll rewatch this drama sometime in the future :D
You really get my hopes up with this article - or I should say this title bc I didn't dare to spoil myself with reading it, just went straight to watch the show.
Firstly, I enjoyed it a lot so I thank you for that spark of interest. And what you wrote here was very informative - I've wondered for example: what's with the tree? It was so sudden, they went from the wedding to planting a tree :D Like, I knew it wasn't a coincidence but didn't make much sense.
However I have one big disappointment, maybe because I had really high hopes for the arts here. In the competition scene I would've LOVED it so much if the songs were played just on guzhengs, without other instruments. It would be a moment to delight in beautiful music. A real presence of arts in a drama. Those fantastical visuals while Jiang Li was playing also killed this part for me, as it's not a fantasy drama. Such a shame of wasted potential there. Also she was playing with bloody fingers, staining the instrument but in a moment no one cared and her hands were fine.
Are you talking about Duke Xu backstory? This is a very commun plot in my historical c-dramas, some just use it…
Actually I'm talking about overall "feeling". ShaoShang was also an abandoned daughter, not welcomed, but very intelligent and witty, who always fights for herself. The male lead on the other hand also lead invastigations, had two funny lackeys by his side for most of the time and tones of spies. If I remember correctly his family also suffered "injustice" and he wanted to clear his father's name. Aside from a sick mother he had no family and was more like a lone wolf too. Oh, but he was acquaintance of his highness.
As I'm watching more and more I'm noticing the differences of course. ShaoShang had more house-orientated problems, while Fangfei is busy with getting revenge, seeking her justice and fighting injustice wherever she goes. The Double (for some reason I always think and start to write "il double" and I'm not even ItalianXD) has definitely a heavier story and more adult-like threads. But I still put both dramas in one "type". If you enjoyed one, it's very likely you'll enjoy the other. I'm more for angst and the heaviness so this one is better for me (and team Xiao Heng here;))
I'm just on the 8th ep but it's hooking me. However I'd like to point it's super similar (but not 1:1) to "Love Like the Galaxy", just with a little darker beginning.
@mogambo, don't mind the troll, a person can learn from many things^_^ (like for example you could've learnt to…
Lollollol. I'll only answer you once and know that if you'll keep insulting others I'll gladly report you.
First and foremost. People watch dramas for ENTERTAINMENT, not for learning per se (at most for learning the language). A good script and execution however can make viewers thinking about stuff. Your thinking is just very short-sighted and you're closed in your own thinking (which is not very deep as I've said). You've forgotten all about Bae Seok Ryu being the oldest child, that her brother was seriously sick when he was a child; that all the time she wanted to be the best, self-sufficient and not bring more troubles to her parents. And that's not everything. The point is this story shows that in particular circumstances (which last for years) a specific person can act like this (also it's a drama so it HAS to be a DRAMA, right?) and ofc we can discuss if it was a good decision, or if it was understandable, or the worst one one could take. But you blindly stick to "she's bad bc she didn't tell her mother about her illness". Or "how could she end a long time relationship over that?" What are you, 10? Even longer relationships can end due to illness or a traumatic incident.
For clarification Na Mi Suk is not "a bad character" but a savage who each time screams and throws tantrum like a child, when her adult daughter takes a decision for herself. And she beats her and always try to force her own opinion on her daughter. No wonder Seok Ryu didn't want to share.
Cherry on top: Take a look how many hearts get your posts, and how many the posts from ppl disagreeing with you. And take the f** hint. If this particular drama doesn't let you sleep by making you overly emotional, just write a review where you put all your opinions, and get over it finally.
I never thought I shall get an episode of BL with Vincenzo and Min Seong . Really their chemistry is 🔥🔥If…
You might have a point. (but I'm not getting "the chemistry talk" though:P It's either a question of acting skills) If there will be such drama I'm def watch it :D (I can only hope it'll happen BEFORE they get oldXD)
my favourite show watching 3rd time each time i learn a new thing from this amazing show
@mogambo, don't mind the troll, a person can learn from many things^_^ (like for example you could've learnt to NOT act like Na Mi Suk XD) Also there are maaany more female leads who were faaaar worse than Bae Seok Ryu. I don't even recognize her as "a bad one".
Quite nice, full package. We have sad moments as well as funny ones and the touching ones. However I took a whole star for the savage-mother XD She's getting better though but only tiny little bit. There's a lot of screaming too. And the big fight between old friends seemed forced for filling the show. 8/10
Beware of HUGE overrating. I'll highlight first that usually I pass romances with military and North Korea tropes bc of mixing and sugarcoating real, serious matters, romanticising them, which irks and leave me squirming on the floor with cringe. I had the same was with "Descendants of the sun" and "King2Hearts". Therefore I wouldn't touch "Crash landing on you", BUT I was kinda curious of Hyun Bin's role AND it has really high score so... However, sadly it has all the things I don't like, + lack of interesting side stories. I prefer when there're more threads worth seeing than tracking just the main couple. And on top of that was a veeery weak translation on Netflix, maybe I should've watched with English subs from the start... I lasted for 7,5 episode and dropped.
P.S. However it was cute when they tried to pronounce "Wiśnierska" :D I didn't know about her so I've learnt a new thing. And bc of this Polish detail I keep thinking it was the Polish flag on the boat Se Ri was sanding on in Switzerland.
Pretty horrible for me. It gives a vibe of Itazura na kiss (which I really like, but not each version) so I tried, but I got second hand embarassment with Sato Takeru - I felt his torment of having to play so much stupid scenes. Ending up with him playing super stiff, and I think he deliberately spoke with lower voice to make it sexier - not sure about that though. As for Sakura-chan, her acting was very believable, however her character was irritating, too cute/stupid/naive/degrading herself (like it's only her to bow every time more than 90 degrees, apologising all the time and lightening that, and how much, she's still incapable of). Def too much of it.
From time to time there's a Japanese drama actually about nothing, with kawaii female and a cold man, with no deeper side stories that could get hooked you to the drama. It's one of them. If you like it - go for it, satisfaction guaranteed. If not - give it a wide berth.
What's wrong with you . Even if the law of land allows, doesn't make it alright. he's still a minor. It's giving…
Casting minors for 18+ scenes would be extremely sick and illegal in any country, I belive. However I've yet to seen this particular show has age restriction esp for 18+. I'll start to watch it soon so I don't have a definite opinion on this show now. The age gap of the actors is a little disturbing (maybe it's not super visible though, I've seen worse) and makes me wonder - weren't there any suitable actors of similar age? Casting a 27 as a high schooler is somewhat weird itself...
As I'm enjoying this drama on 21ep now I need to share smth. Cause I'm seeing it again in a Chinese drama and it super-irks me. Is it a thing there for a (male) receptionist at the hotel to lie that there are no enough available rooms when a man&woman pair is asking? They make slimy side looks towards the customers and try to "work with the man" and put them in one room. Ygh that's disgusting. In another drama it was the man who's given secret signs to the receptionist. Sickening. I'm starting to wonder where did that come from?
I would put Addicted as no. 1, bc it wasn't even season 2 - the drama was just cut in the middle...
