About the first season, I have to say I loved it, the plot was great, the characters were pretty good. It was one of the best dramas imho.
The only downsides was probably about the FL's acting, the actress was good to play action scenes or being angry but honestly for sad scenes or being in love scenes, her facial expressions and her delivery lines were lacking. When she was talking about her lost parents, I thought she was talking about the weather. Like come on, show me some emotions, sis?!
It was Lee Dong Wook who was doing everything to make the romance work imho. His facial expressions were so funny. He must have strong shoulders to carry it all. At first, I thought I was biased against the actress from the first season, but when I saw Kim So Yeon who plays Hong Ju in the last episode from season 2, I changed my mind. I was impressed by her acting, her eyes, you could tell everything on what her character was thinking about.
Even the mermaid plays better. Sorry I said it. The actress who plays the mermaid fits her role well imo.
Both seasons are still awesome anyways, but I am honestly always thinking what if another actress with better acting skills had been chosen in season 1? That leaves a bitter taste.
Since the moment that romance started, I was already planning the names of their grandchildren and trying to figure…
Obviously, the happy ending in season 1 wasn't for everyone in order to prepare for season 2. I think eventually there's gonna be a happy ending after some tragedy, but whether it will be in that season or in season 3, I wonder. Anyways, it's my hope that the writers will process this way. Even though I think the one who will end up striken by tragedy in this season is Moo Young, just like Lee Rang was striken by tragedy in season 1. Yeah Gumiho stories aren't that happy but let's hope for the best. ^_^
Since the moment that romance started, I was already planning the names of their grandchildren and trying to figure…
Maybe a merigumiho or a merigumi? Meri for the mermaid and gumiho/gumi for the fox. ^v^ Yeah I too fear some tragedy striking them, but eventually I think there will be a happy ending. The drama is called Tale of the nine tailed for obvious reasons, it's just like a fairy tale, happy ending for everyone ^^
Yes, the fourth mountain god is a bear. The sanshin from naruto were a fox, an owl, atiger and a bear? WOW . Super.I…
Yeah those episodes are dropping so much hints about Moo Young's future redemption. He's just a fake villain, the same way that Lee Rang was the fake villain in the first season. The main villain is someone else as usual.
Yes, the fourth mountain god is a bear. The sanshin from naruto were a fox, an owl, atiger and a bear? WOW . Super.I…
No the legendary Sannin each have different animal summon: -Jiraiya the Pervert has the frogs -Orochimaru the emo traitor has the snakes -Tsunade the strongest woman has the slugs. They represent the famous mushiken: snakes beats the frogs, the frogs beats the slugs and slugs beat the snakes. It's just that in this drama, this trio is quite similar to the one in Naruto. Both Hong Ju and Tsunade are very strong. Orochimaru went emo after the death of his parents, the same way that Moo Young went emo after losing his bro. And they both hold a grudge against the last member of their trio: Jiraiya or Lee Yeon. The only difference is that Jiraiya was chasing Tsunade, while in this drama it's Hong Ju chasing Lee Yeon. But otherwise, everything is so similar, it's just crazy. Honestly, in this drama I'm pretty sure after some fight, Moo Young will help the others against the main villain of that season: Kato Ryuhei. And just from his name, I guess he's a dragon. Ryu means dragon in Japanese.
I wonder if anyone feels differently about the romance after today's episode. I don't love it, I don't hate it,…
Since the moment that romance started, I was already planning the names of their grandchildren and trying to figure out how powerful a kid born from a mermaid and a fox would be. I am a proud grandma now. ^_^
This episode reminded me of a mix between Inuyasha, Charlie and the Chocolate factory and A Korean Odyssey. Besides the fact that the 3 mountain gods trio remind me more and more of the Sannin from Naruto. They each are an animal too : a fox, a tiger, an owl. Is the fourth mountain god a bear? Just thinking.
And now there are gonna be Shinigamis. Will they fight Hollows just like in Bleach? Bruh that mermaid has some scary powers. No need of an exorcist or Ghost Busters when you already have a mermaid around. Loved the music btw.
I don't think This season is about Korean Myths and folklore,, there is no river of forgetness or the goblin with…
I never said this season is about Korean Myths and Folklore, (I never mentioned myths at all), I said it shows more about Korean folklore and traditions such as shamanism that's why I like it. :)
The ghosts stories, the shamanism with animalistic gods and rituals, the fortune gods, the 10 Kings of the underworld, the story about foundlings, about rituals to get rid of bad luck. All of that is part of Korean's folklore, which shares lots of common points with other Asian countries's folklores.
The same way that American's supernatural realm is inspired from European and Middle-Eastern beliefs and folklore (demonology, exorcism, angelology and creatures from European mythologies such as vampires, draugr and werewolves). Those stories about teleporting in other realms are quite common in lots of beliefs and folklore.
Yes indeed they could have taken inspiration from some American movies or series (Grimm series for example which is inspired from mainly European but also African, Native American and Asian fairy tales), but honestly I think it's more likely inspired from Japanese anime about yokai and old Korean's shamanism stories. Anyway it's a good season ;)
This drama is so hilarious and I found it better than season 1, mainly because it shows more about the Folklore and traditions of Korea.
The time setting of the story is also chosen quite well, they leave hints of what transpired in Korea's history during that time period ( the prostitution, Unit 731 etc, ) without being too explicit and too dark about it. It's also a convenient timeline to introduce demons from other countries and to show how they interact with each other. And it brings suspense to the story. But the genre of the drama is not too dark and it's quite obvious the writers don't want to dive too deep into this dark aspect. The genre is comedy with dark undertones.
Honestly the storyline itself reminds me of a few animes about yokai I used to watch before. During each episode, the MC has got a quest that leads him to encounter new characters. All those introductions and those quests of characters leave a pattern for the final episodes. For people who aren't used to it, they would think the plot is messy while for people who actually notice it, everything seems logical and you can obviously guess with whom Hong Ju is gonna end up with from just episode 4 and 5 for example.
The romance between Lee Rang and the mermaid is also hilarious and I truly think that it was on purpose that they made the mermaid fall in love quite fast with Lee Rang. It's an obvious reference to the tale of the Little Mermaid and how the mermaid fell in love so fast with her prince. Lee Rang's obliviousness to it is also quite funny. Since his brother was the God and King of the Mountain, Lee Rang is obviously the prince in question. The Prince of Gangsters probably XD. Their ship is sailing quite well now.
This is a gender bender Kdrama version of Back to the Future lol. The thing is that the FL who's just like Marty Mcfly doesn't want her parents to get together, but maybe later on I'm pretty sure she will. Does that mean that the ML is Doc? XD
Since the first episode, they said the spheres appeared everywhere on the planet except the poles and some parts of Russia and no one actually thought while trying to destroy those spheres that they were afraid of the cold? Seriously? During the first minutes of watching the first episode, I already knew it that cold thing would be able to kill those aliens.
During one year, the spheres kept being in the sky without falling and no one actually tried to study that hypothesis during that time? They could have built cryogenic weapons during that time. Hell even in a drugstore or a dermatologist have things to freeze. I guess none of them has ever been to a dermatologist. Have they ever heard about nitrogen?
Instead, they waited for those spheres to fall so that carnivore plants looking aliens went and go eat humans. Of course, the plot had to have idiotic crying babies as main characters who are completely useless. They are supposed to be in their third year of high school and none of them seem to be able to have a good scientific reasoning. Especially the guys who went to the store, fought that carnivore plant alien and saw how it died immediatly in the freezer, but never mentionned it for whatever reason. The ones with the best grades were probably the most idiotic I have ever seen. Never seen more idiotic in my whole life. Most of the characters spent their times screaming like a bunch of banshees while trying to fight each other all the time.
The only mvp was probably the British girl. I had to skip so many parts because I honestly thought the plot was dumb as hell. The military guys were incompetent and the students have anger management issues. You have to wait until episode 5/6 to see them act a bit competent. 4/10 for me.
Bruh some people are unbelievable. New parents are more likely to spend their time taking care of their baby changing diapers, putting them to sleep, having insomnia because of baby crying, than go gamble like a weirdo.
Some people should get a real life instead of lying about other's.
A good drama with well written characters, especially the female characters. I liked how the FL was a calm, collected woman, who was mastering her emotions even after all the trauma she went through. The villains got what they deserved. The ending is quite open about a sequel, that wouldn't surprise me at all. The male characters were also pretty good, especially that jerk Jeon Jae Joon. But the mvp imo was Kang Hyun Nam. What a lady!
After thinking a bit about that drama, I honestly think it's a good lesson about that you reap what you sow, and that no matter how long you have to wait, Justice will be served for what you have suffered. So, just don't give up and keep hoping.
Hence why the writer decided that it would take a long time for the FL to finally get her revenge. Things don't happen at once, just keep waiting until an opportunity happens.

Totally agree. You won't regret such handsomess and amazing music. ππ
The brotherhood in the first season was what caught people's interest, hence why second season is more focused on brotherhood.

I'm shipping them now, that's so hilarious.
