As for all that age gap, its not that visible to me but I have most recently been watching a 40 year old man play a 13 year old in Qin so I guess it is all relative.
I don't like it when they flip too many times and the final twist becomes unconvincing. I keep mentally slapping the hands of the writers!!! LOL

And I found it pretty cool that he first tried to unify his court before trying to unify the country. I am not sure though how what I call his "winning hearts and mind" strategy actually fit in with history although I am sure with all the immigration it did indeed create a lot of tension. And indeed yes it is interesting that the problem of nepotism and entitlement vs meritocracy dates back over 2000 years.
