I didn't love it either but the character is a rather sophisticated prince who understands diplomacy and was raised to accept political marriages. He does not have the luxury of wearing his heart on his face. That was a political alliance that was supposed to help his brother the emperor and his country. No matter his feelings, he has to be charming and kind to the princess. After all, she has no say in the situation either. Ultimately the way he manipulated his way out of the marriage in a way that didn't burn any bridges was incredibly clever. In any case, while I wouldn't go as far as to call him a playboy, this prince is a bit of a player or a smooth operator. He definitely knows his way around the ladies, which is what you would expect of a prince in that day and age... they met in a brothel for the first time where he was quite happily romping around with a bunch of courtesans...

I have to agree with you. At 8 it peaks and then it goes downhill. Still a good effort but by 12 I feel momentum loss and I am quite sure I know how it ends.
