Hot damn! Now this is my kinda list!
Happy to see some of my favourites. Kimura Takuya and Jung Woo-sung are just some fine-*** ahjussis! But where is Lee Byung-Hun???
And Abe Hiroshi, Fujiki Naohito, Huo Wallace, Song Il-gook, Zhou Vic ... OMG!!! Who knew such gorgeous men are walking around in Asia. I need to move there...like RIGHT.NOW! Heavens help me ...
Van Nes is a no go....dunno why girls go crazy about him....all the others I agree.
I gotta second & third this! I don't get it either, but I guess everyone's got their taste! :)

Well, Rita, it may be that we're both too difficult to please because I concur with you that QIHM is grossly overrated. I watched it over the weekend and ended up dropping it. I sure didn't see that coming, but there you have it. Everything you wrote about the less than stellar acting, the inconsistent time travel and what not, I agree! However, I could have forgiven all that had it ended better. Mind you, I did NOT watch the last episode. I watched up to EP15 and I was so pissed off by the sudden turn of events and that stupid makjangy time jump that I dropped it in a massive bout of temper. Check addicted2dramas' profile. I explained in detail what caused this drama to be such a huge disappointment. I'd love to hear what you think because I searched for a review of it from you and couldn't find one.

And one last thing before I end my rant! LOL
I also loved the leads. I went in not being a fan of the hero because I wasn't impressed by neither his acting skills nor his looks, but he really grew on me in QIHM. I guess because you could see that he and the heroine were really into each other, not just acting. The heroine was cute too. I liked her. That's why for such a great couple I wanted a really nice ending for them. Not him being stuck in the Jesoen period followed by a huge time jump and all that crap. No, just ... No. I didn't like that at all.

Had they had a chance to say goodbye one last time before he disappeared it wouldn't have the perfect situation but at least I'd have some sense of peace. Instead everything happened so fast you're left blinking like a deer in headlights wondering what the heck just happened. I didn't even watch the last episode because like you everyone said it was bullshit and after feeling so let down only a really great ending could redeem this drama for me so I decided to spare myself high blood pressure and not to watch the last episode. Maybe in a year's time when I feel less bitter I'll go back and see how it ends but at the moment I really don't give a sh...
Actually no, please spoil the ending for me because I don't think I ever want to rewatch this. Well, maybe that kiss scene at the end of episode 11.

Sure when the leads are together their chemistry jumps off the screen, but the couple is barely together for more than a few minutes before they're torn a part and scenes that could have been really romantic were cut short. This is normal in most dramas, I suppose, but all the hype led me to believe that QIHM took the romance to a whole other level. In the second to last episode I thought we'd finally get a chance to see them happy for more than 2 mins. Of course this being dramaland I expected trouble but not that he'd get stuck back in his time period with no possibility to return, not even to explain to the heroine what's going on. Both she and us are left with a such tremendous sense of lost. There was no closure. That made me disappointed and angry.

Actually it's just the opposite. I quite liked the historical parts because all the political rivalry and intrigue reminded me of the western drama The Tudors which I enjoyed a great deal. It was also nice to get a glimpse of a period in Korea's history that I'm not familiar with. The time travel was inconsistent and wacky, but that didn't matter to me because I chose to suspend belief. Moreover, even with the best of the best behind the camera time travel is hard to pull off. I think what didn't work for me was the romantic elements. I don't really know what I expected going in, but it was more than what I got. I've been told constantly that this is the best romantic drama of 2012 and that it is sooo romantic. I suppose I expected to be swept away somehow and I wasn't.

I will have to agree with Amrita that QHIM seems wildly overrated, but I'll leave it at that. Be sure to let me know what you think once you see it. I know what you mean about changing up what you watch. I love most genres & due to my profession I can't restrict myself to any one, but these days my life has been stressing me out so much that I find only a good romantic drama/film saves me from going insane. I've become somewhat of a coward in trying other genres because I really don't want anything that pushes my emotions out of equilibrium. I remember when I watched Padam Padam I was upset and depressed for days. Can't have that ... :)

Overall I liked it though. I liked that the melodrama wasn't too heavy and that most of these stupid behaviours were resolved within one episode after they occurred. I've added it to my review queue ...which is getting way too long now that I think about it...
I'm not watching anything now, what about you? I was planning to watch Love Gets Going, but I'm feeling all drama'ed out so maybe I'll wait with that. Before Buzzer Beat I was watching Queen In Hyun's Man. It pissed me off so much I had to drop it. Buzzer Beat provided a nice escape, but some of those bitter feelings remain so maybe I'll take a break from dramas and watch a few movies instead. Movies are my first love, anyway.
Be well! And definitely watch something. That's the only good thing about being sick -- you can laze the day away doing exactly what you like & not feel guilty! :)

I was also annoyed when it seemed as though he wanted to forgive and go back to Natsuki. But after that episode I considered it and thought his reaction was reasonable, even if I didn't like it. After all he was with her for 2 yrs and he loved her so of course he had a few lingering feelings (especially since Natsuki kept flinging herself at him) and felt torn. I disliked their fatalistic approach to chasing their dreams. I mean it's not like Riko was moving to another country. She was just in another town, a few hours away at most ... IN Japan. So why all the melodrama about ending things and not seeing each other ever and cutting off your phone subscription and blah blah ... This is not the actors' fault, it's the writing and perhaps even the staple of Asian dramas that life is meant to be miserable.

I know what you mean. The only time I felt annoyed with Naoki (Yamapi) was when he told Riko that they shouldn't see each other anymore because Coach had warned him off. I couldn't understand his allegiance. Sure, the coach is good to him and he doesn't want to rock the boat at work, but I don't think it's up to him to decide who Riko should like. Had he asked her who she wanted to be with she obviously would have said him, NOT Coach. But he just completely shut her out of the equation & decide on his own that she belongs to Coach so they can't see each other. That's the only time I thought he was being a pushover. I wanted to slap him and say man the hell up!

Thank you! But I notice you have a habit of ignoring questions. ::pout:: lol
You didn't answer why you didn't like Buzzer Beat. It's okay if you didn't like it. I'm way too grown to be one of those crazy fan girls who attack people for not liking what they do (like some of the posters on the Innocent Man MDL page. Scary lot! lol). It's just nice to discuss dramas with other MDL'ers. It's fun and interesting and helps to broaden one's perspective. So c'mon tell me what didn't work for you. Pretty please with cherry on top! :-)

Addy, I don't know what happened, but I ended up dropping QIHM. How can I explain...? I don't really know if I can. It just made me angry and left me in a really foul mood on Saturday. I guess, for me, it wasn't as romantic as I thought it would be...

LOL Hey Elisabetta, I honestly don't think I'll ever get out of my Kimmy stalking phase ::giggles:: I only wish he had more romantic dramas on his CV since that's just about the only thing I'm interested in watching these days.
Anyway, I'm very interested to hear why you couldn't finish Buzzer Beat. I quite liked it. I loved that it wasn't too over-the-top melodramatic. Just a simple slice of life drama that doesn't leave you in a depressed state afterwards. I think the development of the love story here was slightly better executed than in Pride, but the acting and direction in Pride was way better. Yamapi didn't do much acting in BB, but I loved his character and wouldn't mind seeing more of him in future. So give me any good recs that you have, please! :D
P.S. I also see that you have him listed as one of your favs. Nice! But WHERE is Kimmy? lol

Oki-doki, I checked your list and I didn't see any of the ones I'm about to recommend:
1) My Little Bride - very light and funny. I enjoyed this one a lot more than I expected.
2) Seducing Mr. Perfect - not the best rom-com I've seen, but it's entertaining and will serve its purpose to make you laugh! And if you're looking for some man candy to boot ... Daniel Henny should do the trick! ;)
3) Love So Divine - there's one particularly scene involving a nun in a church that almost killed me with laughter. I don't know if you'll find it just as funny, but give it a go and see for yourself.
Try those and see if your mood improves. Trust me, I know how draining these melodramas can be. That's why I try to pace myself when I watch them. Can't watch them back to back or I'd sure go jump in the frozen river behind my house! lol

Oh ... poor you! I hope you feel better soon, dear! But, you're feeling sick because of sadnes you say? Sadness caused by one of the movies or personal sadness? How about a good rom-com to make you laugh and wash the blues away? I have a few up my sleeve if you need a rec? Sending you lots of cyber hugs! :)
