You deserve it for bringing me such a great show! :)
And thanks ... I try to stick to a certain number of words when doing reviews, but sometimes a drama affects you in such a way that you have to go against your own rules! I'm glad you liked it. Thx! :)
Adding Buzzer Beat & Love Keeps Going! Just finished Autumn's Concerto, the only one on the list that I have seen. It was okay. I have a few of the others already on my list (will probably start Queen Hyun's Man next). Thanks for the recs! Love my romantic dramas!

Since you're a J-drama addict can you recommend some good ones with happy ending? I watch mostly K-dramas, but want to broaden my horizons a little. My impression is that J-dramas tend to end sadly, even more so than K-dramas. Would say that's true? I see you're currently watching Pride. I loved that one!!! Mainly because of Kimura Takuya, but it was otherwise a great drama too! My first J-drama and so far my favourite! I'd love to watch more dramas like Pride.

I've been avoiding The Crucible for exactly this reason for a long time, but I finally added it yesterday. One day when I'm emotionally less fragile I'll watch it because I think it's an important story. I can definitely recommend 3-Iron. I don't know if it's going to be to your taste, but for me it was such a beautiful film. Let me know what you think once you've watched it.

This is probably gonna sound contradictory, but I actually agree with your assessment of both Western and Eastern cinema & what I love about Asian dramas/movies is exactly as you described. It's a refreshing change from Hollywood movies which tend to appeal to an ideal or a fantasy. Having said that, I appreciate that Hollywood generally avoid endings that devastate its audience. Most of the times when they do "sad" endings, they're more poignant & bittersweet rather than outright sad & gut-wrenching. With Asian cinema I've found it's the opposite. They really like to torture the audience. Sometimes it's too much for me, too real. There has to be some middle ground. I don't like films that demand so much emotionally from me like Padam Padam did. I'm more able to handle endings like 3-iron's even though it wasn't a classic happy ending.

I've actually debated with myself several times whether I should add I Need Romance to my watch list or not. In the end I chose not to because I hear it's the Asian version of Sex & the City. I really hated that show so in the end I decided against Romance. Thanks for the rec tho! I appreciate it. If you have anymore please feel free to post on my timeline again! :)

You've started Pride! Nice! Man, I so wish I was in your shoes again, discovering this great drama for the first time. Halu-san ... the man is to die for! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! :)

Well, the way I see it is that an outcome is just an outcome. Either it's X or Y. On the other hand the journey that leads to the outcome is totally unknown, and that's just as, sometimes even more, interesting to me. You never know how the story will play out. It could play out in a way that pleases you or it could go totally downhill. Not knowing how things will go is good enough for me even if I already know it will end sadly or happily (plus HOW said sadness or happiness plays out is also unknown so I'm usually excited to see that too). It's not everyone's style, but it works for me. Besides these days, with the mood that I've been in mood, it saves me a lot of stress. I hate when movies/dramas make me melancholic, or sometimes, downright depressed. It disrupts my emotional equilibrium.

As for the show itself I share most of your impressions.
I definitely agree that the cancer was overkill. I mean you put a man through so much hell and when he finally finds so happiness you kill him off?! Jesus H Christ! How about cutting the guy some slack? It was too much. I fully expected one of the miracles to save him or for him to get a transplant or something. Anything, but not death! Grrr ... just remembering it pisses me off! LOL
For me the romance between Kang Chil & Ji Na developed too slowly. As usual I think they dragged it out for as long as possible so the actors can avoid being intimate on screen (I hate when they do that), and when they finally got together, though many of their interactions were really heartfelt, I was disappointed that we only got a few measly kisses. For people who've fought so long to be together, they just didn't seem passionate enough to me.

Yeah, I can see you like sad dramas since pretty much ALL your favs are dramas I stay away from with a 10 ft pole! lol I am NOT desensitized to sadness. Prior to PP I had only watched Western dramas and if you watch them too you'll know that it's very rare for a main character to be killed off. PP being my 1st drama I went in not knowing many dramas end sadly in Asia so I didn't prepare myself at all for what would happen. When I found out that Yang Kang Chil was going to die after everything the poor guy's been through, I was upset, angry and depressed for a long time afterwards. It was due to this why I embarked on my current journey to NOT watch anything with a sad ending for the foreseeable future. It was just too upsetting, esp when you lead a stressful life like I do and need entertainment as a form of escape, not as a reminder of how crappy life can be.

Yepp, so far so good. It was a bit hard to get into at first, but it's great now. Now that I know for sure that he won't die or will die, I can relax and enjoy the story. If I didn't know I'd be so anxious, dreading each episode!

Yeah, Europe is awesome for travelling because it's right in the middle of East and West. I don't like winter though, every winter I want to run away from Norway because I can't stand the darkness (sun rises at 9am and sets anywhere between 3.30-4.00pm). So you go to work in darkness and come home in darkness! lol Where are you located?

I think I know how Autumn's Concerto is gonna pan out. The hero will be dying at the end, but he won't die on screen, am I right? Please tell me. I hate these kind of endings...

Thanks for the request. I see we already have lots in common. I LOVED the movie 3-iron and Kimura Takuya. I just discovered him and O.M.G!!! ;D
By the way I see you just finished Orange Days. Can you let me know if it has a happy ending? Thx!
