My On Hold list serves 2 purposes: 1) Shows that I lost interest in but want to give a 2nd chance and 2) Shows that I want to see but not in the immediate future. For eg, a lot of the movies/dramas on there have unhappy endings so I can't watch them now in the state of mind that I'm in. But later I may very well be in the mood for that kind of movie.

I saw I Saw the Devil at a film festival then I bought the DVD. I've looked for it online, but haven't found it. I watched it mainly for Lee Byung-Hun (my fav Korean actor) but the movie itself is brilliant, esp if you're a fan of the serial killer, crime genre. I had every plan to watch Iris, again because of LBH, but I heard what happened at the end and lost interest. Someone told me the movie is a prequel to the series so I got the impression I didn't need to see the series to see the movie. Now they have a sequel, Iris 2, coming out. I'm a bit confused, though. Is the movie a prequel or isn't it, in your opinion?

Oh right, awesome then! I'll have to sit down and go through it soon. Hey, curious to know why you dropped what appears to be 3 of the most popular dramas here on MDL: Hana Yori Dango, Bridal Mask & Playful Kiss. They all seem to have a huge fan following among MDL'ers and I've been debating whether I should add them to my watch list or not. Why did you drop these?

Thanks for the link! I checked it out and it looks like a good supplement to one I'm already using: talktomeinKorean.com. I'm determined to learn this language by the hook or the crook! lol Yeah, I'm used to Chinese too, they're literally EVERYWHERE right? lol But they too seem a bit harder to get to know compared to the Koreans. I just remember interacting (hanging out with, going drinking with etc) a lot more with Koreans than any other Asian groups because they were always open to it. The Japanese & Chinese always stick to their own. Or maybe I'm just biased toward the Koreans ... I dunno. haha :D

Also when I think about it if I'm ever to date any Asian guy (long shot cuz I'm veeeery picky about men in general!) it'd probably be a Korean. I'm a bit more used to them than say Japanese/Chinese/Taiwanese. They also seem to have the best physique in the region & I need me a man who's at least taller than me, if he ain't bigger! haha. I have interacted with a lot of Koreans at uni and there's a huge Korean community in NY state where I'm from. I find Koreans are a lot more approachable and easier to talk to than the others. They're more "western" if you will. The Japanese to me are quite reserved and not so open to interacting/dating interracially (esp with folks who look like us). This is not a generalization, tho, just in my experience. Also if dramas/movies are anything to judge by, the Korean culture & way of life is more relatable to my own (Jamaican-American) upbringing.

Then you've come a much longer way than me, re the language. I still can't read Hangul and to write it is a nightmare. Been trying to write my name now for weeks, since I first started learning. Haven't quite gotten it yet. I seem to understand a lot more (yet that means nothing cuz 90% of the time I don't know what's being said in dramas/movies) and am able to speak more than I can read and write. As for as hot Asian men, I started out loving the Koreans first because I watch more Korean films/dramas more than any other, but since I saw Pride with Kimura & a whole host of other fine looking Japanese men I've been wanting to see more! Trust me you're gonna need more than 2 wks to scout the place out. Plus going all the way from Bahamas to Korea just for 2 weeks, girl don't waste your money! Go for a month or 3, that's my plan! :)

I just saw a younger version of Kimura in Pride and lawd have mercy! The man is foine. If you haven't seen it, you should. Funny thing is I was just like you. I've never been attracted to Asian men before. They weren't even on my radar, but now? I wanna move down that side immediately, even though it's said a lot of them don't like black people! lol Anyway, gee me a Shota (his name is sooo cool!) drama or movie that has a happy ending. I really wanna see him in action.

I wish he had more happy ending dramas. I've checked out every work of his that's posted here on MDL and they all seem to end tragically. I'm not in the mood for that right now so I'll have to wait a bit to see him again, but just knowing that he's there waiting for me, sigh ... haha! :)

Yeah, it's messed up! I saw Lie to Me recently. The scenes were too few and too brief, but yeah that's what I'm talking about! I've seen a lot of fangirling over this Matsuda Shota, but I haven't had a chance to check out what all the fuss is about yet. I wonder if he'll affect me like Takuya Kimura who I just discovered the other day and is totally ga-ga over. Damn, I didn't know Japanese men could be this hot!!! Queen In Hyun's Man, yeah it's on my list but I've been avoiding it because I heard the ending isn't good. What's your say on it? As for my age, I'm going to be 30 in just under a month. It ain't right. I still feel like a kid! lol

Hi Elisabetta, it's been a few days since you guys posted your article and since I saw Pride, but I'm still on a Kimura high. I want more of him. Only problem is that I'm on a hiatus from sadness. Can you recommend more of his dramas or films that have a happy ending? Thx! :)

The poster looked really sexy and I heard other Asians are a bit more liberal than the South Koreans when it comes to kissing on screen so it caught my eye, but I seriously don't want to watch anything about death right now.
I'm gonna tell you my age, but I'm curious to know why you think my profile suggests 20s? :)

DWL, you should read some of my reviews. The fake intimacy in a lot of these dramas is my #1 complaint. It pisses me off too when they build the sexual chemistry between the characters for 10 episodes or more then when they finally kiss it's merely a brush of the damn lips or the woman stands there with her eyes wide open like she see duppy. This happened in Padam Padam, my first drama, and I was like I waited 11+ episodes through heartache and pain for THAT?!? I was mad as hell. I wrote to the TV bosses at MBC and SBS and complained. lol

Whoa ... based on ...ing you say? Then I don't think I'm going to watch it because I know ...ing didn't end well even though I haven't seen it. I've taken a hiatus from movies and dramas with sad endings. Thx for letting me know! :)
