What are your preferred genres? From your profile I'm picking up that you like crime/mysteries. Am I right? And do you prefer a particular country over another? Just curious as to your tastes because it isn't always easy to tell from someone's profile. I know I go through phases that see my genre tastes changing all the time.

Queen In Hyun's Man. It seems to be a massive favourite among the massive, yet while I like all the characters so far I'm still waiting to be swept away. I'm also worried about the ending. Heard it doesn't end so good, but I'm trying to grow a pair and rock on! :) What about you?

As for her going back to the ex I think it's caused by some sort of strange power play between her and Halu. Because of pride and other complex emotions neither one of them wants to be the first to admit their feelings so they act in ways that push each other's buttons. Halu plays a lot of mind games. He keeps expecting Aki to chase him and when she doesn't he's shocked and gets his feelings hurt! lol Men, I tell you! Aki on the other hand questions his feelings for her because of his nonchalance. I mean these are some really great, true-to -life characters. I loved them even while I wanted to slap them! :D

Problem is Halu's dealing with his own emotional baggage which makes him put up a front. He's also very prideful. After what his mother did to him he's determined never to make himself vulnerable to a woman ... not knowing that's exactly what Aki needs him to do in order for her to trust him with her fragile heart. They're both so complex ... I absolutely love it! If I can write characters like these I know I'd get far in my career. Read my episode review for EP9. I went into more detail than I'm able to here.

I had all the same feelings about her until I re-watched the show. Her behaviour was very frustrating, but I got to understand her after that second viewing. At the beginning of the show she struck me as a woman who had it together. Sure, the BF took off without a word, but she seemed to have gotten over it and moved on with her life though she kept saying she's still waiting for him. However, what the ex did to her left a major scar, one she kept well hidden (from herself, her friends, and us) until she met & fell in love with Halu. Then those feelings of insecurity, the fear of new rejection & abandonment rush to the surface because she knows Halu is a man that can really hurt her, more so than the other guy given that with Halu she feels true passion. So for self-preservation she can't succumb to him until he affirms his love for her with actions, not just words.

Hehe, I swear ... I was about to throttle her myself, but in the end I got her. I actually don't agree that writers should include foolish behaviour just so the story can go on. In that case they should end it at the point where sensible behaviour can no longer prevail. But after everything Aki went through with the ex, her behaviour started to make sense to me, even if it was bloody frustrating! :D I'm all ga-ga over Halu, but honestly if I met a man like him in real life I'd want some insurance too. That's why, in the end, I like how they wrote Aki. Very layered.

Nice review on Pride! Halu is the man, man! haha. I think you describe him really well, to the T. I understand why Aki tried your nerves! Until episode 9 in my second viewing of the show, I was pretty sure I wanted her to expire (esp after what Halu told her in EP6). But as you read from my review she grew on me and she came across as an even more complex character than Halu simply because her behaviour was so real in its provocativeness.
Yeah, I often feel bad for second leads, but I've never been in a situation where I wanted him to end up with…
Nope, haven't seen any of those, but will check 'em out! I actually don't care for love triangles. Hate being torn between 2 men. I just want to focus on the hero, esp if he's hot! :) No torn loyalties or dumb misunderstandings when hero/heroine finds him/herself in compromising situations with Mr. or Ms. Second Lead. But I guess drama wouldn't be drama without all the drama SLS brings! :D
Yeah, I often feel bad for second leads, but I've never been in a situation where I wanted him to end up with the heroine until I watched Autumn's Concerto. I really, really liked Han Tuo Ye. He's the most memorable second lead I've come across in my young career as a drama addict. I thought he was a great catch for the heroine. It's not that I disliked the hero, but a relationship between Tuo Ye & Mu Cheng just felt more natural. He really loved her & he's spent way more time being a husband and father (albeit step-in) to her & her kid than the hero so naturally you fall in love with the person that's there taking on responsibilities and duties he doesn't have out of the pure act of love.

Thank you, Sumi-chan! You're absolutely golden for all the great recs you've given me. I'm going to start Buzzer Beat after I finish Queen In Hyun's Man. It definitely looks like my kinda drama! :D

Nope, not yet, but I will! And I know right ... I normally am NOT attracted to short, skinny guys but Kimura's charm and screen presence just blew me away.

Yepp, read 'em all and I'm fangirling right there with yah! :) I don't what it is about the man. It's like jungle fever. I'm totally obsessed! lol
Thank you for recommending Love Keeps Going, I'm still melting for Mike He..LOL! Now, time to watch Buzzer Beat!
Addicted, I've been hearing a lot about this Mike He person. I need to "meet" him. Does he have fangirl-inducing effect like Takuya-san? lol

Haha! I kinda wish I was like that though ... being able to watch several dramas at once. I tried to, but I always get caught up in one to the detriment of the other. Guess I have a one track mind. Anyway, enjoy Pride for as long as you can. You'll be sad when it's over!

Thank you, June-ashay! :)
And you're right! The secondary cast didn't get much screen time, but when they did appear they made an impact. Yuri was a crazy girl, but I actually liked her a lot! And Yamato ... boy, if I wasn't so obsessed with Kimura I'd be all over him! lol

Thanks! I'm not a woman of great words so I'm still not sure I pinpointed exactly what made Pride so memorable for me, but I did the best I could in the review. I hope it all makes sense. Anyway, you are waaaay more disciplined than me. Once I start a drama I can't seem to stop until it's done. My addiction is so bad that I've restricted myself to only watching dramas on the weekends because if I start a drama during the week I'll never get any work done. I can't wait to read YOUR review of Pride! :)

How are you getting on with Pride? Are you done watching? After days with Kimura Takuya invading my thoughts I finally gathered the presence of mind to do a review! I can't seem to get over how great this drama was! Sigh... :)
