I'm just going to calm myself with the fact that Kim Taeri didn't want this ending either and even asked them…
I think it would have been possible if they didn’t introduce Minchae at the beginning as Kim. That would have leave room for flexibility at the end if they needed. But since they did that, there was no other way around it but to make them separate to prove a point. I hope that Kim Tae Ri comes out with a much happier drama next time. Breaks my heart I won’t see her with NJH again but she’s a wonderful actress and I look forward to her next project. So as NJH too, this was his best role ever and I wish nothing but the best for him.

This drama was really on its way to being one of the best dramas I have seen in a while but the writers destroyed…
Exactly…..

In the end it wasn’t because they broke up to protect their love. They broke up because they failed to protect it. They failed to understand each other, failed to communicate their feelings to each other, they failed to love each other like how they promised. Was it worth it 2009 HD and BYJ?

Still so incredibly sad….I have never cried so much for a drama couple before.

For those that said this ending was good and it was what the writer’s intention was. That’s fine…..how each viewer interpret the storyline is different. For me, it hits hard because I love HD and BYJ so much. I wanted to protect them, hold them and say…it’s ok. Let’s depart for awhile, go your separate way and grow up, learn life experiences. Then come back and see if you still love each other. If not, that’s ok….you loved each other enough with no regrets now.

But now, I’m with this imagine of HD in her 2521 shop with the rainbow chairs and her red car. And BYJ still alone at his desk. Was it worth it guys? Did you tried hard enough to love each other without regrets? And I think that’s what hurts the most, because the ending didn’t make them try hard enough. It just ended with them giving each other up like that. 😭😭😭😭

Strolling in her red car lol. She went there twice.
It was like they held on but that evil force aka the writers kept wanting to break them up. NJH, you should have told the evil forces to not make you leave HD.

Title Twenty Five Twenty One Spoiler
"I believed in you who believed in me. That made things possible. You made me smile. With you… I felt like I…
So sad……was it worth it to give each other up is what I wanted to know? Are you both happier now? Did you love each other so much and have no regrets?

I'm more than ready to accept their ending. I might even say the way they bid "Goodbye" to each other was beautiful…
I agree with you ….all day I took time to process the ending that was given. I too have learned to accept that they did not work out but I felt the ending was rushed. I felt with this beautiful love story, they would have fought hard to try to stay together instead of just gave up easily like that. They said they love each other so much but they weren’t willing to try to save their relationship. So it was ok for YR to not contact her for months and she was ok with that? But she sees BYJ on his news reports everyday so it wasn’t like she didn’t know what was happening over there? In the end I felt like they failed each other, failed to protect their love. They didn’t break up to protect their love. They broke up because they failed to protect it. So in the end, we have an older HD still stuck in 2521 with her red card, her rainbow chairs, her shop, and still waiting for her husband. We have BYJ become the anchor he wanted but no love storyline. So, what kind of happiness did they end up with in the end? Was it worth it?

So sad….I know I know, we were told Minchae had a different last name from the beginning. But I got so hung up on HD and her life. I love HD and BYJ so much it hurts to see their characters end the way it ended. Could have ended with HD surrounded by her husband and child. So listen up Minchae, no, I don’t want you to experienced what your mom went through. I want you to have a beautiful and loud friendship, but I also want you to have a beautiful love relationship that is worth fighting for. True love is worth fighting for….

Is there any kdrama cp who unite in another kdrama? Any idea guys? I don't think I have seen one.
Yes, Lee Da Hae reunited twice with Jang Hyuk and Lee Dong Wook for two more dramas with each of them.

The one thing that really sucks about this ending is that this is probably the only project we will see Kim Tae Ri and Nam Joo Hyuk together. So yeah, I can’t even go back and rewatch it without breaking my heart. What a waste of talent actors. 😭😭😭

Yeah it didn’t make sense to me. It’s like she’s very much indeed hung up on those memories. Like she never…
I agree too

I think I would be ok with even this ending if they didn’t make her get married and have a child before her retirement. It would have been a nicer ending to have her marriage and child come after. If she couldn’t work it out with BYJ, how she could make it work with another guy who works all the time and is gone too? Or how was she even able to find time to get married and have a baby during training? Old HD looks sad and still living with memories of her past too. Red car, rainbow chairs…,geez….let her character move on.

So you're saying my boy have moved to a department where he thought he wouldn't be able to hurt hee do, but then…
Which defeat the whole purpose of episode 13 when he was feeling conflicted. Why include that part?

I just believe if people love each other that much, anything is possible. I don't want to brag about it, nothing…
I agree too….I married my BYJ. We went through a lot with school and all but we held on to one another. Why? Because we were each other’s support at the end of a long and tiring day. So yeah, it’s possible to have a happy ending.

i would've rated 10/10 with a simply "yijin changed his legal name so no one would know he's married to heedo"…
I agree….I think many of us was rooting for them felt this was the direction it was heading to. Then to blindsided us with that crappy ending is like what? Worst ending indeed. Silly breakup…why make them run back for that final hug too? If they broke up mutually, doesn’t need to be so dramatic about. I truly though they will take a break and come back together. I guess the writers didn’t think it was worth saving because they wanted to prove a point. So stupid

Now that I look back, I think this love story was poorly written.

It hit us because it was the magic of Kim Tae Ri and Nam Joo Hyuk, along with the other characters and the directing. The storyline for HD and YR was good. But the storyline for HD and BYJ was horribly written.

This would have easily been made into two separate drama: coming of age youth drama about love and friendship and sad love story drama. Instead, the writers threw the two genre together….the ending of the break up felt so out of place and forced, you can see the writers trying to push for that first love sad love ending.

I felt totally robbed of what could have been the best coming of age love story ever.

It's like the writer wanted to make it a tragic ending SOO bad that it was nowhere close to being "realistic"
I agree….this drama could have been split into two dramas: coming of youth drama of love and friendship and sad love story. Instead, the writers combined it into one and threw in a “mystery of who’s the father” into the mix.

We don’t need to know who is the father because he’s not an important character. What we needed was a proper closure for HD and BYJ, even if they didn’t end together. But the way the writer broke them up wasn’t good enough. It felt rushed, felt forced. Why did they broke up and then have her rushed into another relationship while still healing? That’s not the HD we have come to know. The HD we knew would have waited, tried to finish her fencing career and come back to give her love one last try. And the way BYJ was written in the end….not the one we came to know too. It’s like he just gave her up like that without a fight.

Oh God! How right you are. Makes me so sad thinking how they will be taking in all the criticism about their drama…
Right….from episode 1-15, it was good up till the 9/11 when their character took a different turn. It’s sad that other potential viewers will overlook this drama just because of the ending so they will miss out on all the efforts KTR and the rest put into this drama. Like it’s not even a good ending. There is no sad or happy ending. The whole open ending isn’t a good open ending either. One word just to describe it is crap ending.

I just want to apologize to Kim Tae Ri and Nam Joo Hyuk….you guys did an awesome job with your characters. I’m sorry the writer made a crappy ending to this beautiful drama. Now, people who haven’t seen it will never get to see the beauty of this drama from episode 1-mid 15 because the crappy ending ruined it. And those that have seen it, the ending will scarred them to rewatch it again. I’m so thankful to see this drama before the ending, I will skip that last episode. In my mind, HD and BYJ will work it out and be happy together.
