Nah, they kind of heavily hinted his mom had an affair with Bok the father, who then fastly expedited her to Canada because he wanted to keep his wife happy, and the kid got left behind for some reason - kid who pretty much is JiUk. So he'll probably be Chairman's bastard second son, now brought in the company to learn the ropes from the ground up because dad the Chairman is unhappy with Bok the son and either wants to have a second option or just wants to get rid of him altogether.

I wish they'd left him a nobody being a foster kid of no one.

IMHO some of it comes through in the drama, too. Particularly with how they toned it down into bromance - you can TELL how exasperated LWJ is with WWX in the cave (and why would he be, if he's not jealous?) or how afraid he is for WWX on the cliff before he lets go (and why would he be, if not in love and scared of losing WWX?) or how desperate and angry he is with WWX in that Wen wayhouse where they re-unite after the Burial Mounds (and why would he be if not afraid WWX is turning evil and he wouldn't be able to stop him?)

Each time he's calling out barely a "Wei Ying!" and you can tell what he's feeling just from the tone. Or from the looks. Or from the way he just turns and walks away from the aggravation that is WWX, LOL.

He deserves it all, though - I mean, you read the extras. You know where his mind was at all times, LOL.

I really really didn't want them to go with the CEO affair bastard son overused trope. What I liked was precisely he was a nobody. Now they're turning the trope back to the mainstream and I hate it. Why couldn't he remain Cinderella instead?!

TBH, despite loving the dynamics between HaJun and GyuHyun, I didn't quite like this ep. Too much comedy, too little leads' moments, not really relevant plot (or any kind of plot actually). I wasn't hyped over BWS's cameo either so it was so-so for me.

Baby the cat is living the high life though, LOL.

PS Is it just me though, or does anyone else think Kim YongDae looks a bit like Kang YeoSang, with that haircut?

Every time I visit this page it hits me again - in 2024 he's only 20 years old. I keep waiting to see him main lead a big budget drama, he impressed me so much in Nobody Knows.

Oh come on iQiYi, make that 2nd season already!!

One of the MCs is Xiao TingSheng, the unrecognised son of the slain Crown Prince Lin Shu tried to rehabilitate. It's about his own family and his own sons, now adults. He does remember MCS as his own master. There are even two or three scenes re-used from the first season, and Lin Chen makes a short appearance.

I don't think most of the others remember him, though. The story isn't about him. but XTS never forgot.

Takes place in the same kingdom and dynasty as the first one, about two emperors-removed from the original. Mostly unrelated characters though - only two of them are older versions of charas in the first season (not mains). The plot flow is much different. There's a lot more romance in this than was ever in the first one. It's more about brotherhood than friendship.

Also, it has the BEST epic war scenes I've ever seen in a drama. Movie-level.

This one has been on hold for years already. I don't expect we'll see it any time soon, UNLESS (please innocent people from China who happen to have access to those files...) someone mistakenly releases it like that other one did with The Spirealm, LOL.

I've seen the photos of their costumes and though - these looks quite a lot like TTEOTM's costumes. Went to look and what do you know, it's the same costume designer, Huang Wei.

Well, if so, expect AT LEAST amazing costumes from this drama.

Every now and then I miss my soft exiled prince Tantai Jin. This is one of those moments. Dammit, TTJ.

He speaks volumes with his eyes and actions. He doesn't really need words.

Not to mention all his Wei Yings are nuanced... from the one meaning "Wei Ying, baby, we've talked about this, stop being an ass and get down to sleep, it's 9PM" to "Wei Ying, ISTG if you don't stop this nonsense of demonification I'm gonna whoop your ass so hard you won't be able to sit down a week and I'll break my Everyday Means Everyday motto just because of that" to "Wei Ying, you're the softest boi to ever grace my view, I could stay here watching you all day and night (well not between 9PM and 5AM, but you know what I mean)".

And then there's the "walking a single-plank bridge with you til its dark end is not so bad"- Wei Ying.

This man speaks love.

Well, LOL, the Yin Iron is also only important in the drama, too. In the novel, WWX finds the old sword in the Xuanwu monster and keeps it in his pouch (wuxia/xianxia have these out-of-place-out-of-time items to store things, pouches or rings or whatever) until he's thrown into the Burial Mounds and has to survive it, and that's it. He remakes the sword into the Tiger Amulet and lets it refine all the dark resentful energy of the place and later on, uses it to control dark spirits. (The novel is way more horror and gruesome than the drama, BTW, if you haven't, you should read it, it's amazing - and you get 1000% more WangXian interractions. Because trust me - it's way more in the open, what's between them, than it ever comes out in the drama).

LWJ is way more useful when roaming around with WWX and not giving his uncle more dyspeptic attacks, LOL because - "wherever chaos is, that's where Lan WangJi is". He's one like Song Lan and Xiao XingChen, going out to find and erase darkness, not sitting in council meetings to tend to leaders' wounded pride. I like him just going out along on WWX's crazy adventures - because WWX is just nosy and SMART and can't sit still - and dealing with dangers to the non-JiangHu people.

Just read the novel - novel WWX and LWJ are amazing (and flawed) heroes of legend.

...And then there's the extras :D

I don't think anyone is rooting for his undoing, he's just an active contrast for the ML and that's about it - not a lot of substance to his presence, or not so far, anyway. Yeah, dating two women at the same place of work is beyond idiotic, LOL but at the same time, he managed it for at least half a year and neither of the women caught him.

The submission was stolen from her idea anyway, I don't know if he withdrew it yet, I hope so, for his good. And if he didn't, I hope she exposes him.

Wen RuoHan was never Excellency, he just did whatever he wanted because he had the power to do so. Jin GuangShan became Excellency of the newly created Alliance of Clans who worked together to bring down the Wen Clan.

LWJ only becomes Excellency in the drama, in the novel he doesn't care about it because WWX and he are busy honeymoon-ing all over the place and feeding dogfood to everybody LOL.

The position is supposed to be one of a mediator between clans and the deciding voice in whatever thing they can't really agree on. Obviously JGS never cared about it because all he wanted was the prestige. But after the Wen Clan was brought down, it was Meng Yao doing everything as a stand-in and making all the decisions until he "inherited" the position by killing his father. And he also used it to basically rule over the JiangHu and having all leaders at his beck and call, when previously he was nobody, the son of a prostitute and someone his own father called a "nothing".

A cheater getting his just rewards, I don't see a problem here at all. And did you notice how he's looking at HaeYoung? He still has cheating on his mind.
