Myself, I can read between the lines. (Maybe I've read too many yaoi manga in my time LOL). And also the acting is very good, so a lot of actual innuendos and unspoken feelings of the characters come through very clearly, despite the lack of words.

The drama is too short to develop the backstory, and that's where it's the weakest, but the present timeline is actually good.

And yes, when it comes to BL, I AM that shallow, LOL, I do watch it for the pretty (and all other good reasons, but the pretty is one of them). Seriously though, the way Miyata moves and smiles is definitely way too sexy, LOL. And Iwanaga's quietly stated love declarations aren't a joke, either.

And a picture of his lover sleeping naked and photographed by the person who sent the message.

And being unable to actually contact Iwanaga (mainly because he also destroyed his own phone in a fit of anger, but also Iwanaga never tried to look him up either, which definitely would point to a teenager that the message was the truth and it was all a sick game). I totally understand his reaction of being humiliated and made to reconsider his own worth. If he was shy (as he appeared to be at the time), that would be a double dose of soul-death for him. If it were me in his place, I'd find the deepest hole to hide in and lick my wounds and then drag some dirt over me to better hide, too.

As for the Iwanaga' relationship with his secretary or whatever is his place - they were both consenting adults and it doesn't say it happened when they were actually still in an teacher/student relationship. Or so I seem to remember.

I don't think he was on the death row (based on kdramas he should have a red prisoner name/tag? I might be wrong on this.) But even if he was, the power of the scriptwriter to write any nonsense for this drama is sky-high.

I don't even care anymore, I'm watching this because I like how smoothly Miyata moves (glides? floats? Who cares, he does it). And his smiles are killers. Even if it turns into PWP, I don't care. This man is fine.

This is a weekend makjang drama. It will take forever. There are going to be twists and turns and love stories and breakups and probably a lot of accidents and plotholes and some bad acting and some good acting, and it will definitely have a HEA because of reasons. And if we're really unlucky there definitely will be some amnesia plot because why not LOL.

If you're into other kind of soap operas, think about it like it's a telenovela or a Turkish drama (but obviously a South Korean drama).

I did rate it a 7 because I managed to finish it and didn't skip anything. I think it was pure trainwreck-watching kind of entertainment for me, but now I wish I never started because I actually liked LJW in AoS and now I'm kind of fearful for his future projects. Oh well. We're in another universe than kdrama stars anyway, LOL.

KTO's mom fell and died when his stepfather was granted a short out-of-prison time (for reasons). He immediately went to find her with some hints from KIH, but when she saw him she got too scared and basically fell off a high step of a rock stairs all by herself and died.

The dad returned to prison to finish his term (for having killed her all those years back).

As for why KTO helped KIH, it's because of the scriptwriter. There's no sane or even plausible explanation coming off the plot except that he had a dream of making it big and wanted to get there by agreeing with KIH to help each other. In the end, it's shown - pretty boringly - that KIH actually only has dog underlings and he asks for complete trust and loyalty, so whenever anyone shows any - the smallest - hint of doubt, he gets rid of them. Which probably should have imparted that when KTO was dissatisfied with KIH's backstage arrangements he lost KIH's trust too and was thrown to the side.

Lazy writing, lazy plot, no acting needed from anyone, boring drama. You did well to drop it.

Think about it like this: that's a 12 hours investment. Too long for what this drama offers (nothing.) Don't do this to yourself.

So in the end it was a total waste of time LOL. None of the characters connected, none of the actions made sense or even mattered in the end, none of the cast showed a bare minimum of acting skills - maybe the NK ex-spy turned hacker, I'll give him a pass. The only character who was almost bearable (if you chose to forget the first two thirds of the drama) was the total failure second son.

I actually have nothing much to comment on this drama, except that I want my 12 hours back. I could've watched any other idiotic drama instead and maybe had been entertained. Hindsight is 20/20...

I finished this. I feel like there needs to be a badge for finishing this drama, no fast-forwarding either. Where's my badge?!

Now I'm curious who she was married to - he would've needed proof anyway, since she hadn't even given birth when she went to jail. Ugh, prison for adultery - divorce is simpler and cleaner.

RE the dog - I think he really is a psychopath. The orphanage also burned down some ten years back... wanna bet he'll have something to do with it? Maybe when he hit that dog while saving HHI as a kid, he found out he liked the feeling. Or he felt justified into checking out the value of life, even with just animals (for starters). And his non-drinking adoptive family died in an "accident". This man is carrying a scythe with him, LOL.

But he also wanted to kill the dog he couldn't buy from the people on the hunting grounds (I really REALLY hope he doesn't get to do whatever he wants with the chaebol family's properties, because those hunting grounds go with it, and so does the dog, legally or not).

And his mom GLOATED on the Chairman's impossibility to talk or move. And she acted like a doting "mistress" for decades, nobody totally normal could keep it up for so long (even DaHye is cracking, and she's only been in it for a few years, having to fool mostly the least intelligent member of the family too, while YES's mom had to fool the whole family, most of whom hated her). I guess he does inherit things from her...

The Chairman is 80, his oldest could be around 55-60 himself. If YES is 34, and was sent to the US when he was around 12, he could be either man's son.

I thought she went to prison while pregnant but for fraud, not adultery (do they really imprison women for that?!) and changed her name immediately after she got out. If he's the oldest's son bastard, the fact he remained a bastard wouldn't have to do with his own marriage, but more with her social status.

The Chairman's wife wasn't dead when the mistress was in charge of scholarships, and they had rows over her presence (said BeomJa). The wife would've been all over the mistress' business. And 60k over just one year - and the money to hush the adopting family - wouldn't have been easy to swindle 20-30 years back, when the conglomerate wasn't as big and rich as now.

I think that YES will be revealed to have blood ties to the family. We'll see.

I mean... how could they NOT have at least some bank accounts that are not tied into the conglomerate?! A small private hidey-hole fund for fun so that they at least could rent some motel rooms and not troop over to their ex-inlaws small house?!

And now even HaeIn shouldn't have the money for treatment, unless HyunWoo pays for it himself, or he solves the problem ASAP in order for her to get to Germany again in time.

All of them being SO stupid is taking a bit of the charm of the drama for me...

But then he'd be Chairman's son, so HHI's uncle - it doesn't fly that he'd want to marry her. Unless mom never revealed dad's identity. But why would she have all that money - 24-5 years back, presumably, when he was adopted to the US, the Chairman's wife was still alive, right?

And if he's not a conglomerate bastard son... would she have passed someone else's son as Chairman's?

I don't think there's a clear explanation on how MDL actually rates the dramas while they're airing (or when they've finished airing). I've seen huge fluctuations when they mess with their algorythms (when I joined a few years back, the highest rating was 9.5 and it was Nirvana in Fire. It took a while but for some reason - not going to presume anything here - cdramas ALL started to be rated lower, even those who had always been top-rated, and then kdramas started always being rated higher, even when they were basically mindrot. So there might be preferences included in that algorythm, dunno. J-doramas never got high ratings, no matter how good they were.)

The metrics take into account (in different percentages) the ratings per episode, the ratings per verified users and un-verified users, the ratings over reviews, the ongoing-ratings (people rate the whole drama as they watch it), page views, comment numbers etc. Or AT LEAST it sure looks like it.

The final rating will evolve once people actually finish and rate the drama. So you'd know it a few months (at least) after it ends.

If you're just interested in how successful it it - dramawiki has a section over Nielsen viewership numbers, and those numbers tell you if it's well-watched in SK. For the production team and audience, those are the numbers that actually count.

But going from a little makjang involving conglomerates that appears to have started happening, it really isn't far-fetched to presume for the time being that Yoon EunSeong's FATHER is also someone important in Queens. I mean, who the freak would have all that money to send him to school with a 60k USD tuition per year? His mom hadn't swindled her way into the Chairman's house yet at the time!

If so, it should be either the chairman - but then YES would be HHI's uncle (or half-uncle, since he has a different mother than HHI's dad) or the first son (he's old enough), and then YES would be HHI's first cousin (also half-blood, through his father).

If YES is interested in marrying HHI, it really wouldn't work if they were uncle-niece, but first cousins... who knows.

Again, IF. It might not be a twist plot, we'll see.
