It’s about a girl who was used by everyone in her first life including her aunts, uncles, cousins and husband (who became and emperor thanks to her help). She lost everything in the first life including her 2 children and family. Then she get reborn and start her revenge on everyone. Most of the story in about her revenge with the ML help.

The Rebirth of an Ill-Fated Consort, the rebirth of the malicious empress of military lineage. But both are heavy on revenge but have great MLs.nUnlike in this one, the second leads are not that impactful in those 2.

From the spoilers I saw so far, I don’t think they are skipping it. In the novel, ZZ and JXN relationship was build up alot. It was hard after all what they go through to accept the excuse of the writer to break them up. Also, unlike the drama that toned down the male lead, his character in the novel was really very dark and the writer didn’t shy away from describing that. I read the novel in one go and it was hard to forget what XW did in the first life. His revenge caused the death of many people, he imprisoned JXN in the palace and did nothing when she was being abused and rapped for quite sometime. He also imprisoned fang Lin and took (stole) her money to fund his revenge. The first life stuff in the novel were really so dark. That why, I personally developed very strong attachment to ZZ while reading the novel as he was really to only good and sane person among everyone. But I’m so conflicted about the drama because I line both actors.

ZZ only loved JXN and was heart broken for the break up but he believed that JXN can’t live with the guilt of her first life. Has he not accidentally revealed the fact that he remember the first life, I don’t think they would have broke up. In all honesty, I personally thought that this plot development was very week. In my opinion her past with XW is far much more unforgivable than hers with ZZ. XW was a complicated psychopath in this First Life. She really saver his life like without her he would have died but he never really appreciated that in the previous life. He once told her, the fact that he let her live so far is a payment by itself and so many other bad things.
ZZ never married and remained an official. One time the son of XW and JXN was saying stuff about ZZ being a very good official and XW was so jealous that he tripped his son.

He did. I think it was combination of 2 things. First, it was guilt. You see, XW treated JXN so bad when she was an empress. When she killed herself, it was not because she wanted to die. But because she believed that he will kill her. He felt guilty because after losing her he noticed he has complex feeling for her. Second, XW was so obsessed with revenge that he had nothing else in his first life but to attain revenge. Now, that his goal was fulfilled (it was also clearly said that XW was responsible for the death of many people. Many people including many innocent ones lost their life due to his revenge) so, he has this lack of interest in life now. He has nothing to keep him going on living,

XW was not in love with anyone. He is a psychopath who was obsessed with revenge in his first life. He did not have much interaction with JXN after she saved his life. So he didn’t develop his love/obsession for her in the first life. But kinda had regrets about her after she killed herself in front of him. In the second life, they are having a lot of interactions and he is already in love with her without noticing.
JXN didn’t love anyone but ZZ in her first life. She said if she was not married when they met, she would have married him. He was like the light in her dark empress life in the fist life. In the second life, she will be with ZZ but they will break up be souse both were reborn and she will love XW but it takes long for her to love him due to lack of trust in him. YL was in love with her both timelines, but he was only a friend for her.

In the novel, fangyin of the first life was actually a person of the present who took over fangyin after she was killed in the banquet that jxn attended in the second life (she didn’t attend in the first life). The girl who came from the present time was very smart and was able to make a hug fortune. That’s why xw imprison her with Jxn in the place and they became best friends. He wanted her money to fund the revolution. In the second life, JXN wanted to go to the banquet in order to meet her friend from the present when she takes over. However, when she saw the real fangyin struggling in water, she couldn’t let her die. And unlike the person from the present, Jxn had to help fangyin a lot with making money. But they became friends too however the real fangyin always felt that jxn was looking for someone else when looking at her. In the end she dies unfortunately but her death was very meaningful in the novel. The dialogue between them was so moving.

In the novel he remembers everything and he was the only other reborn person with JXN. He experienced the full rebirth like jxn.

I went with what I remember from the novel. It could be different in the drama.

He is 24 and she is almost 18.

It’s complicated. I think he realized he had a soft spot for her after she died in front of him. XW in the first life was so wrapped up in his revenge and there was no room for feelings. They didn’t have any interactions or a relationship in the first life other than she saved his life when she was 14. . To him she was the girl who betrayed his cousin YL. Some people say he had feelings for her in the first life. But I read the novel more than one time and didn’t really see it. while she was alive, he really treated her so bad. I think after he completed his revenge and saw her die in front of him, he realized she means more for him than what he thought. Her death was a catalyst for many things in her previous life including the destruction of the relationship between YL and XW who were cousins that cared a lot about each other before her death.

I see your point too. But if we apply it here, then xw and Jxn also don’t have what it takes for a relationship. Their interactions in the past were the worst. If Zz and jxn are broken glass then jnx and xw are shattered glass. For example, when she went for him for help, he used red painted bush and drew a cut on her neck implying that she should die. That actually was the reason why she slit her neck after he sent her the dagger. She really thought he wanted to kill her. If Zz and jxn can’t work then so is xw and jnx. That’s why I thought the writer had a weak plot when braking Zz and jxn. But I’m glad she didn’t kill Zz off. That would have been horrible. Of course XW might not remember and just get informed by JXN about it. But that makes it worse. She will remember everything he did while he can’t even properly apologize.

I’m actually the opposite. I actually think she and ZZ make creat couple. I don’t believe in I’m bad and you are bad, let’s be together which is the base for XW and JXN relationship. I believe that people with different characters can complement each other and I saw that in ZZ and JXN relationship. I actually thought the plot development of breaking them up to pave the way for XW was very week in the novel. But I guess that’s what the writer wanted. Not sure if the drama will handle it better. I will wait and see.

I don’t think he is falling for her. He is trying to play the match maker between her and XW. He already noticed that XW cares for her.

I watched it more than 10 times already. I’m obsessed. I noticed what you say, it funny. But I mostly watch for the meeting between jxn and zz. ZZ was definitely my favorite character in the novel. There is something so endearing about a good person like him.

It’s basically to help YL and his family.

I never said that she was not wrong nor that she didn’t use people. I’m talking about her mindset and why she was eger to be an empress and that because she wanted honor and recognition she never had not power. Now, if want to talk about YL and XW, both of them were horrible to her. She owns them nothing in the new life especially after being repeated raped by YL. He lost the right for her guilt. Same for XW, she was someone who saved his life even by feeding him her blood. But he let all her abuse and rape go one. Really both of them are so undeserving but we are in be era of the dark and bad boy as a ml. So we ended up with WX who also was the main mastermind of the revolution in the first life that killed many innocent people. Compared to JXN using people, both of them did far much more horrible stuff.

Jxn never wanted to be the empress because she wanted power. If she wanted power, she wouldn’t have been that stupid about politics. Once again, you guys hardly understand her character. She wanted to be the empress because she thought that what will bring her honour , recognition and love from her family and others. Jxn was a neglected daughter of an official who was thrown away with her assumed mom to the country side. Then she discovers that this assumed mom is not her real mom but the woman who kidnapped her in order to provide a good life for her real daughter. Can anyone imagine how devastating that to JXN? Then when she goes to the capital she is completely humiliated everyday for being a countryside chick, her bio mom never really loved or warmed up to her, her dad who threw his daughter away only feels guilt but doesn’t really do anything to help or educate her. She only clung to the words of the woman who raised her and these words that being an empress is the most loved, honoured woman in the words. These were the first words of the drama. That should shed the light of her extreme desire to be an empress and that’s it’s never about power but about becoming the most loved and honoured woman in the world. The only person who took interest in her was YL. But that was not a positive interest. He was I will spoil her and marry her. He contributed to her cluelessness and ignorance. He seen her only from his own way not for who she is. He is not that great really but nighter XW. Both of them failed her so bad in her first life. Only ZZ was selflessly there for her.

It’s shen jie. He is the prince who is a friend with YL. Because the current emperor didn’t have kids, the prince (his pro ther) became the emperor.

I guess they would. But in a way I thought this was very week plot point. I mean if the relationship between JXN and zz is broken porcelain, hers and XW is charted into dust porcelain. Yet, the writer still paired them together.
