I'm all caught up. I'm really not liking SYS and MQG both making decisions and acting like they know better for…
Itās definitely something they both have to learn to move forward from especially in any meaningful relationship with other people. Although, I think there are some distinctions that are consistent with their characters. I think for MQG, she was used to helping the weaker ones and never thought to consult her disciple SYS. Itās one of the things that irks her sister MRW as well. For SYS, heās operating from a complicated place mixed with guilt, unrequited love (so he thinks or at least he is unsure) and fear (of himself mostly I think). He wants to take sole responsibility for everything to a fault.
I donāt mind watching flawed characters and their turbulent path to growth, but I can understand that it is often not executed to everyoneās liking. Definitely an overused trope (the Iām going to do things or decide for you for your good trope), but I think it makes sense here.
I think with 40 eps, my general critique of c dramas (and in this drama), is that an adaptation of this story may not have needed to be this long or drawn out. Things could have been more succinct and still clear and fully developed in the past 12-14 episodes with half the amount of episodes.
More random thoughts: I see a lot of use of mirroring in the writing of this show: flipping the master-disciple relationship, SYS/Su Yu (he's starting to say the same things SYS said about obtaining more power), MRW and MQG (weak vs strong dynamic), and I'm sure there's more. I wonder how much more will be used in the 2nd half.
Loving the side eye SYS gives SY. šIt is saying... Just STFU you fool! Make like a tree and leave. (Totally…
Love the line from ep 19 when Su Yu says his usual jab about how SYS killed MQG back in the day and SYS just says, "You believe that because you are stupid." LOL
I'm on ep 10 and I actually like Ran Ran more than MQG. I find MQG very arrogant and know it all. She thinks she…
Yeah, I know they will eventually get there, but I was again saying, come on now, SYS, you are too insecure. But I get it, given his childhood and youth, he's slow to trust.
