I'm getting sick of all these titles with "Of Love" or any type of "Love" in it lol, they need to be more creative…
I agree about the overuse of the word “love” in every drama even in dramas where there is very little romance. I guess “love” sells like hot cakes in dramaland. I don’t speak Chinese but I am assuming that if they use titles which are similar to the Chinese ones they may not sound as appealing. Judging from subtitles alone, idioms and figure of speech in Chinese are very different from English and their meaning quite hard to grasp without the notes. So I guess it makes sense to choose words/titles that are easier to relate to for international audience however cliche lol

Half of the drama is like Wuguli and co versus Yanyan. Rebel, surrender, repeat.
As a heroine Yanyan is portrayed as kind and forgiving in the drama. She can’t be all that forgiving I think

I cannot believe I am commenting years after this drama was released. But this was my second Chinese TV drama (after Empress in the Palace) to watch and I watched it just over a year ago. It was THE drama that got me hooked to Chinese drama. It is by far the best Xanxia/romance drama in my opinion. Everything is well thought out from the story to the acting and production. Whenever I get tired of other dramas I come back to this drama. When I first finished watching it, I had severe withdrawal symptoms and could barely function in the real world. I also struggled to find other dramas that are on par with this one.
I know many found the first 8
-9 episodes slow but to me they were fun as they are relevant to the plot.
The only part that tried my patience was FJ and Dijun’s relationship. I was not so much into them. I thought they took up quite a bit of screen time which could have gone to the main couple. So I am a bit disappointed that there weren’t enough scenes between BQ and YH when they reunited in Heaven as an engaged couple and after Yehua’s return in the last episode. I did watch ELOD hoping to catch even a glimpse of Yehua and BQ only to be disappointed again.

XiYin’s son is so rash and stupid like his dad. The apple does not fall far from the tree. Glad they are out of the scene now.
I feel sorry for YanYan and at the same time I admire her generosity of the heart. I did not like the emperor before and I dislike him even more now. He got his throne and queen only to dump all the responsibilities on Yanyan’s shoulders while he enjoys the rest of his life. He now realises he wants to be normal. I don’t get why he wanted the throne for in the first place. So his name would be recorded in history? Not saying he should not get a concubine or enjoy the rest of his life. But he used so many people like chess pieces to be where he is. Without Han Derang, Yanyan and Yanyan’s dad he would never have made it to the throne. Now he leaves everything in HD and YY’s hands to implement the reforms and visions he once had. Maybe that’s why the queen is more well known than him.

Shawn looks hotter and hotter. A nice change :D
Can’t believe only 10 more episodes to go.
About the three sisters, they reminded me of the Dugu sisters. In the drama they kept saying how close the sisters are especially the two younger ones but it turned out that Wuguli is evil. I had my suspicions when she first rebelled against her family to save XiYin. They truly are two peas in a pod those two. When Han Derang described the three sisters to the current emperor his description of Wiguli was exactly the opposite of who she turned out to be lol. I just cannot stand her and XiYin now.
I read on Wiki that the real empress killed her sisters. Power really change people as they say.
I don’t know whether to feel sorry for Han Derang’s wife or not. At times I find her so called devotion annoying. Even though HD promised to be a good husband, I wonder if he sometimes finds her tiring too. All their scenes together there isn’t any sign of affection from HD’s side I feel. Also her love is selfish as she wants him for herself. Nothing wrong in wanting her husband home and safe but she cannot even begin to understand that he is destined for something bigger. She seems to suspect Yanyan of trying to steal her husband. Truth is his heart never was hers to begin with and all her hopes of winning him over is not working as love cannot be forced. Of course everyone can be said to be selfish as well but both Yanyan and HD probably sacrificed the most for their nation I’d say.

Read the synopsis of the drama and watched the first episode. Wolf boy is more like a man than a lad with little to no verbal skill. I am wondering how Mowgli is going to learn to the ways of the world and adapt to a civilised life.
The plot is not exactly my cup of tea but I will watch the first four episodes because of the cast

Does anyone know where the drama was filmed? The green pastures are so breathtaking.
I am sad that Han Derang got married. But I am enjoying this drama so far.

But at least the Emperor admits his mistakes after each wrongs held one. Kudos to him. Not many emperors in dramas…
True, but it also depends on the gravity of the crime and situation I think. If an emperor mistakenly kills a clan for treason for example, it is usually impossible for him to admit his mistake and grant pardon. In this drama, the emperor is a bit hasty in judgement and unreasonable I find. That is all

The emperor is so irrational. Putting the wrong guys in prison or punishing them without conducting proper investigation only to let them go and pardon them later. He is neither wise nor that intelligent for a man in his position.
The last few episodes feel so rushed. Like they suddenly realised they need to wrap up the drama lol
I am taking my time to finish this drama as it is getting too predictable. I am only here to watch Fu Xuan , Wu Bai Qi and Duke Su. Fu Rong is a disappointment. Also the scenes between the main couples are not as good/romantic as the second couples’.

I really was having high hopes for this drama but it is really falling through. Like the dream is barely even…
I couldn’t agree more. This drama started out so well and then everything went south plot wise. It is like the writer ran out of ideas. Plot is so predictable. We know what each character is going to do. It is not engaging any more. sad :( In fact I am typing as I am watching episode 31. Looks like the dream is finally revealed/has come true

Same lmao!! I honestly have to say that while I don't hate Fu Rong, I don't particularly care much about her either.…
I know! She is the damsel in distress all the time and it bugs me so much that she has neither superior IQ nor basic self defence skill to get herself out of trouble. She supposedly spent a lot of time outside her home roaming the streets and that is the main reason why she comes across as resourceful but she lacks the patience and wisdom of her sister. She gets on my nerves every time she tries to act smart and ends up getting in trouble. I really cannot understand what Xu Jin sees in her either. Her beauty is average and so is her charm.
I really liked her and ZZH in the Legend of Yunxi as a couple but her character in this drama has way too many shortcomings.

Ditto! Her reckless behaviour especially toward Xu Jin her saviour pisses me off the most. Even though her relationship with An is platonic, the complete trust that she places on him who has done nothing to earn her admiration while constantly doubting the man who has done everything for her is just inexcusable because she is aware of it. Like you said she does not think things through before acting on impulse. But then I thought she can’t be this thickheaded because she sometimes talks sense like the time she gave an advice to Cu Wan about her behaviour toward Su. That scene made me laugh because she herself never walked the talk. Anyway, if this is part of her character development it is good but it is trying my patience.

I don’t hate her either. I guess I am disappointed that she is a bit too childish for Xu Jin and very different from Yunxi, that her character did not live up to my expectations. If there were no Xu Jin or Fu Xuan and Wu Bia Qi, I’d have dropped this drama long time ago.
