On The Boyfriend Season 2 Feb 14, 2026
I have to ask: To the people who hated how much screentime William and Izaya got over everyone else, did you feel the same way about DaiShun in season 1? Because season 1 of The Boyfriend was basically The DaiShun Show.

I'm honestly confused what caused Ryuta to die so suddenly. I remember he went to the hospital, but it wasn't clear what for. It didn't help however that where I watched this had some pretty bad English subs. Some things were strangely worded while others were straight up wrong. I'm a beginner Japanese learner, but even with my toddler N5 level knowledge, I knew some of what they said didn't match with the subs at all. So for the more complicated stuff, the subs could've been wrong and I'd have no idea.

I don't know why people are upset with the end of this reality....I loved Youngjoon, the best one in my opinion!(…
I think whether we can "see the chemistry" doesn't matter. The editors will show us whatever they want to show us. I know some people said Jaeseung and Seongmin had no chemistry, and yet they're the only couple that's still together and going strong a year later. That's all that matters.

I honestly thought this was a pretty solid season, if you pretend episode 14 doesn't exist. Happy for Jaeseung and Seongmin who are still together and I'm glad most of the cast still seem to be friends.

It's hard for me to rate this series because I loved the premise and enjoyed MOST of it. I just did not like the redemption arc we went on near the end. I dunno, everything about their relationship just scream BAD IDEA!! But because this is a BL, of course they have to reconcile and get back together. I'm not opposed to rocky relationships getting patched up, but the execution is the important part. This in my opinion had bad execution. And not only Ming, but EVERYONE was redeemed at the last minute.
So, can a disappointing ending ruin a series as a whole?

They are so many out there where the main leads don't end up together
Yeah, that's kind of what I mean. Most BL I know where the main couple doesn't end up together is because of death or some outside force beyond their control. I'd like to see a BL where they don't end up together simply because they're a terrible match. Like, whenever there's toxicity in a relationship and they have a falling out, they always reconcile in the end even if it feels unearned. I'd like to see just one time where they don't reconcile and they just find someone better. One of the couples in Only Friends is the only example I can think of, but they weren't the focus. They were one of three couples (five technically).

I know there's one more episode, but I kinda wish it just ended at episode 11. I'd love for there to be a BL that has the balls to make the main couple NOT end up together.

I'd like to see more of Bright and Bodo, but considering this is the only thing Bodo has ever acted in, I kinda doubt it'll happen.

this is actually quite plausible! i wish we’d gotten a back story for jin, we really don’t know anything about…
Really, only Non, New, and Tee were given extra time and depth. The others are pretty straightforward, which isn't necessarily a bad thing in my opinion. They all just represent different character types and they serve their purpose. The spoiled rich kid, the person who looks the other way instead of helping, the narcissist, the innocent one caught in the crossfire, the one too obsessed with revenge, etc. I figured Jin simply represented "the nice guy who expects something in return" and that would've been fine in my eyes. But I do think there are several hints that there's more to it. It could also be that he had a promiscuous past that he regrets. Maybe it all started with Mr. Keng and seeing him with Non triggered bad memories? Who knows, but I see it more as bonus information rather than being super necessary.

The only character I do think we needed more information on was Fluke, because a lot of his actions didn't make sense to me. He's supposed to be the guy who wants nothing to do with the situation, but one minute he's trying to keep the secret hidden and the next he's pointing a gun and yelling at Tee to tell the truth. I thought you didn't want to get involved. I thought you didn't want to get your hands dirty because you wanted to become a doctor. Well, you're hands are certainly dirty now.

There's something I noticed about Jin's hallucination after rewatching the series. Back in episode 10 when Jin confesses that he leaked the video, he says that he could live with Non not liking him and having a boyfriend, but what set him off was seeing Non doing it with Mr. Keng specifically. In the hallucination, we never see Non. Instead, Jin is watching himself. At first I thought Jin was just representing Non and the students taking pictures represented him. But...now I'm starting to wonder if in the past, Jin went through the same thing. Maybe Mr. Keng also took advantage of him and seeing it happen to Non set him off. Maybe he leaked the video to expose Mr. Keng, but also Non in the process. Maybe he was willing to do it because he was angry at both of them, but especially Mr. Keng. Just a theory, and it doesn't excuse Jin's actions, just adds some layers to it. And I could be thinking way too deep into this, but I just found it strange that Jin's hallucination was the only one where Non wasn't involved.

That was the most brutal and unhinged ending to a Thai series I've ever seen...I loved it! 10/10

Although one thing I don't think was ever answered: What was up with that thing moving around in Uncle Dang's chest/stomach after he died? They focused on it a couple of times so I thought it would have some relevance.

Apologies in advance for what I'm about to say but I think the people who keep complaining that the English is…
The characters randomly speaking English just felt like something they threw in for no rhyme or reason. Even if their pronunciation was perfect, it'd still make no sense, especially when First randomly speaks English to his friends that clearly don't.

Also, to be fair, New really didn't do anything but provide a drug. 😂🤣 These guys are taking out themselves…
I mean, he did set up that razor wire that decapitated Uncle Dang who didn't even do anything wrong. He also set up that stake that pierced Por. And I guess he mind controlled Top with a different kind of drug?

Title Mr. Sahara & Toki-kun Spoiler
The last episode made the student/teacher relationship even weirder than it already was. Since both actors were so young, I kinda assumed the age gap wasn't that wide. Then they reveal that Toki was still a child when Sahara was graduating high school. Does this man age?

Also, I've personally noticed in the BLs I've watched that they really like to reveal that the main couple have known each other much longer than they initially thought. Why is this such a popular thing to do?

On Shin Godzilla Jan 24, 2024
The two featured reviews are pretty spot on in that this really is a Japanese film made for a Japanese audience, or at least people that understand Japan beyond it just being that one country that anime comes from. There's a reason it was critically acclaimed in Japan and the highest grossing Godzilla film until Minus One came along. It has a lot of political and social commentary that will probably fly over a lot of people's heads unless you know Japan. Like, Shin being based on the 2011 Touhoku earthquake and nuclear disaster, or it being a satirical take on the government's slow response to said disaster and general inability to quickly deal with a sudden crisis.

Some will probably find the focus on the human characters and all the talking boring and just wanna see Godzilla stomp around and destroy stuff. But this is honestly what I like most in Godzilla films. The original from 1954 at it's core was a movie about Japan vs a crisis with some strong social commentary throughout. Eventually, the films turned into "turn your brain off monster mashes", which are fun and all, but I really appreciate movies like Shin Godzilla and Minus One that go back to the original spirit of the first film. Japan figuring out how to deal with a crisis.

I went into this expecting a horror themed BL. 7 episodes in and the BL still hasn't happened yet, but I'm still watching because I am intrigued by the story and where it's going. Although I still have very little idea of what exactly is going on. What is this shadow's deal and why is it giving Dan handies in his sleep? And how does Dan and his shadow have anything to do with Trin? And now there's also a one-armed boxer ghost? All these questions better be answered by the end of the show.

I'm gonna give this another episode because I could feel the plot making a valiant attempt at showing itself during the last few minutes of episode 1. I really hope the sex scenes are spread out in meaningful ways going forward instead of just throwing them at us one after the other. I get that this is a sex themed show, but I still expect more attention to be placed on the story. Otherwise, I might as well just watch actual porn.
