Having my lunch earlier and could not respond to this excellent post. I don't understand some of the stuff there, but the last two paras are good enough for me. $ 40K USD per year difference, for a guy about 30 years old, the kind of financial burden he is bearing, it would be totally absurb to say it does not make a difference for him or that he does not need the extra money.

So, I want to join babepiggie in thanking you for this excellent post!! And we will certainly remember this post and use it to push back against people who said it is ludicrous for YT to even think about changing jobs.

This is a key premise to this drama. One of the critical legs that hold the table up. If this leg is missing, the table will fall. I fully expected Gu Man to do her homework and chose the aerospace industry to contrast with the finance industry in China, and make this key premise totally water-tight and is able to stand up to the tighest scrutiny, because she does know there is a significant difference in their pay. Your post just confirmed it for all of us here.

I also like this kind of exchange. When we can express views clearly, it is so much fun!!

Yes, here in YAMG, they really did dubbed their own voices.

After you have watched the other episodes, please come here to exchange views again!

So sad to disappoint you. Wish that could be true. When they did those viewership count, they only count viewers…
Yeah! I do watch on both. So, I hardly feel guilty at all. I always want to support both the drama and the actor/actresses, so re-watching on Viu is a must for me. Besides, Viu really has such good English subs.

Ok, from now, I will watch on Ryevidz. And when the later episodes are downlanded on Viu, I will support this drama by doing re-watch on Viu. This way, I can also compare the two English sub and get even more out of this drama. I understand a bit of Mandarin as well. So it will be like watching this drama from so many medium, to make sure I am not missing anything. For a drama this good, it is worth it. And each episode just 30 minutes. So, not much time wasted at all. Thanks for so much for reminder!

Hey, you know what? I just tried Ryevidz! It is not bad at all! Good streaming and no ads!! Dramacool is not bad either, but it has all those ads. Especially when you want to fast forward some scenes, or enlarge the screen. Each you do that, there will be those pop up ads. Ryevidz is practically ads free.

Ah! You explained it much better. I can see where you are coming from. Easier for us to exchange views. Because the phrase 'not good acting' can mean different things to different people. I just did not want to misunderstand Debarati, the other viewer.

Yes, his character is indeed a bit stoic. I did not read the novel, before starting to watch the drama. But I have read many comments by people who did, and they suggest that this is YT's character. He is indeed a bit stoic. And he speaks with a very low tone. Almost like a singer with a bass tone. I think you know what I mean.

And yes, he does not vary his tone much. Not like QJJ. But I have watched some BTS. And in those BTS, Yang Yang in person is hardly like that. He is really fun and laughs all the time. His tonal quality is still the same. Still low. But he does vary it, so it is less monotone, compared to the character he plays in this drama.

But I want to urge to observe one major difference. Look for his facial expressions. Yang Yang is good in acting with his eyes and micro-facial expressions. Do note the difference in his facial expressions. In later episodes, if indeed he has not already shown this up to E5, you will see that he is always kind of down and unhappy, because he will face so many problems. I do not want to give you too much details, since you are only up to E5.

What you do see will be the big difference, whatever he gets to meet up with QJJ. His glum looking face will break into smiles. And he will light up, as if he the candle with a wick. He just needed someone to provide the initial fire, and he will glow. QJJ plays that role. She will light up his life, will bring support and love to his life.

Most of their voices are dubbed here as well. But they are dubbing their own voice, in a studio, post production. In most scenes, the production sites are likely to be very noisy. We will hear a lot of unnecessary noise. But, I do feel that in some of the indoor scenes, where noise can be somewhat controlled, the voices used in the drama could well the same ones used while filming.

This is a great drama. Even though it’s been 3 months since I’ve finished the drama, I still end up rewatching…
I do fully understand where you are coming from. I guess I just did not want to invest in time watching another Xianxia drama with similar plot. I can feel romance very easily, whenever I watch a drama. So, plot is more important for me. So I preferred to watch a historical with a different plot, and then sense the romance.

Princess Silver was like that. Interesting plot. Reasonably good acting by the female lead and some of the male leads (there were three male leads). There was romance between the female lead and the first male lead. I did not feel enough angst to make me cry. But I felt sufficient love between them to feel touched. But as a production, it was not as good as TLB. Very few production can match up to TLB, in terms of the OSTs, BGM, cinematography, etc. Acting wise. those leads cannot be compared to Reba and Wu Lei. Reba and Wu Lei are much better.

Some of the historical rom-coms were quite funny, though. Surprisingly, I did enjoy some of them.

Ah I was thinking about it; It came to my mind that in the beginning QJJ does help him by promoting the air purifier…
If you do look at things that way. Sure. But it is an indirect support, because the air purifier money goes to his company, not directly to his pocket. But I do know that QJJ is a very fair person. In one of the flashback scenes, she told YT, if you teach me maths, I will buy you chicken. Something along those lines.

For me, even if YT did it freely for QJJ, he did it willingly. And he is a guy. Broke up with girlfriend some years ago. Here is a beautiful and successful actress. She is your ex-classmate. You rejected her years ago. Teaching her means you get to spend quality time with a beautiful and successful actress. I think lots of man will be willing to do that for free. It is a kind of reward, though not in monetary terms. Next, you rejected her years ago, with rather dubious reasons. This is an opportunity to say sorry for rejecting her, kind of like trying to soothe his conscience or guilt feeling.

So sad to disappoint you. Wish that could be true. When they did those viewership count, they only count viewers…
I don't openly call for people to watch on Wetv to support it. But quite a few do. I know where they are coming from. It may have to do with being honest, in the sense that Wetv and Viu are official streaming sites. Subscribers who pay to watch are just helping all these site developers to make what is fair returns for their investments.

Another reason, later, when we do tabulate international viewership data, they are likely to only count viewership on all the official sites (like WeTv, and Viu, etc).

For me, I do not like to pay. I have access to Viu. So, I watched it on Viu, free, from E1 to E8. Viu has great English translation. I then watch E9 to E12 on unofficial platforms. Later, when E9 and E12 are availabe on Viu, free of charge, I do my re-watch. This way, I am supporting an official channel. At the time, I get to watch some of later episodes on unofficial channels (while waiting for them on Viu).

And, I do like to re-watch dramas all the time. Especially all the good ones. For the not so good ones, I just wait. For the entire series to be on Viu or on some other official platform like Wetv. I have access to Wetv as well, but some dramas are blocked.

Oh? Interesting! But I did not watch ALP. After watching TMOPB, ELOD, and Love and Destiny, I kind of got saturated with the Three World Three Lives plot and decided to just skip it, after about 2-3 episodes.

While waiting for You are my glory, I went to watch a whole bunch of historical rom-coms, just to kill time. And some of them were quite fun, actually. And also watched Princess Silver, a historical wuxia kind of drama, to get to know some other Chinese actors and actresses.

I can watch it on Viu, which is a streaming platform. Without subscription, I can only watch up to E8. Viu has very good English translation. I think those with subscription can watch all the way to E12.

So, for the moment, I will watch E9 onward on dramacool (which has it all the way to E12). Later, when Viu has E9 onward for non subscribers, I will re-watch it. I love this drama so much, and each episode is quite short, so re-watching is no issue.

So sad to disappoint you. Wish that could be true. When they did those viewership count, they only count viewers in China. People like us, international viewers, our viewing is not included in the viewership count at all.

At least not at this moment. Later, much much later, they might also tabulate international viewership count.

If you can find the time to explain some of the stuff to them, that is great. If not, using a VPN to access is not too difficult. I do not know how to do it and don't need to do, since I can get access to Viu. But quite a few seem to know how to do it. Do let me know, if getting VPN is an issue. I can find out very easily, how to do it.

There is a lady here. Her name is MK916. You can see her, right top of this page. She knows how to do it.
