Not sure why you find that jarring. They just didn't want to show people putting make up on QJJ. Perhaps they feel that people will find that kind of scene too boring, viewers will be to infer that the make up would be done, they got to the car, drove to their destination and just got off from the car. Looks pretty smooth transition to me.

Assuming the same increase on Sunday and Monday, it only brings us to around 820 or 830 million views in its 1st week. To hit 1 billion views, viewership must hit around 150m a day, for both Sunday and Monday.

I do not know all the fine details about the dollars-and-cents difference between what an aerospace engineer and finance guy makes in China. But, I do know that this is an important premise of the drama, that YT does indeed have money problem, and hence the difference between what he is making now and what he could make, if he were to switch job must be pretty significant. Or else, he would not even be thinking about making the switch. And since this drama is broadcast in China, this has be true, that he will indeed make much more by switching to a finance job. I would like to believe that Gu Man is a smart author, and would have done all her homework, to ensure that whatever she writes is credible. And the book publisher would have cross checked all her stuff, before the book is even published.

There is time lapse here. The book was published in 2017. Drama filmed beginning of this year. A time lapse of about 3-4 years. Assuming that during this time lapse, aerospace engineers' pay gone up. One would imagine, a finance person's pay would have gone up as well. So, the gap will still be there. The premise will still hold, that he will make much more money by switching jobs.
