I feel the same. I think this is overrated. And somehow I feel Reba looked so old, is she intentionally portrayed…
Not really. She did not age. She filmed YAMG right after filming TLB, with hardly enough time to rest in between. One article mentioned that she was totally exhausted. That may have seem to make her look old.
Yes. He was very conscious of that. And in real life, things like that do happen. Whenever a famous actor/actress…
I totally know what you mean. The setting is supposed to be in Shanghai and she is a big star there, as can be seen from all the advertisement posters. So even in that restaurent, someone would have know she is and taken photos of her and them. So great awareness on the part of the director to make it realistic, by having YT walked back and ask the girl to delete whatever photos she took.
But please do not feel bad for me. I may be a lone warrior, I do not feel lonely at all. Every few days, there are new viewers coming here to ask questions. So, interacting with them is great fun. I feel no sense of loneliness at all.
Yeah I agree with WK1, this is kind of semi-Wuxia cause it focuses more on politics and wars rather than martial…
Really? No one explained to you?? Xianxia is pretty much a recent Chinese creation, while Wuxia and historicals have been around for ages. If you guessed based on Google, you did a very very good job!
All the bantering, just so sweet. You could tell, they are all just enjoying the filming. And Yang Yang in real…
Definitely. It a torture to watch a drama whose main plot consists of misunderstanding after misunderstanding, where a simple communication between the two leads would have solves all the problem.
No. No one chased them out. They likely read all the comments, became aware that they are in great minority, felt uncomfortable being in a place where there are so few who share their views, and showed themselves out the door. Nobody told them to get out of here. Not that I am aware of.
an amazing detail to note: in ep 9 after they had that fight outside of the restaurant yu tu went to ask the bystander…
Yes. He was very conscious of that. And in real life, things like that do happen. Whenever a famous actor/actress takes a meal at a restaurant, he/she needs to be careful. Lot of people out there love to take photos of big stars. If a photo leaks out that QJJ just quarrelled with a boy, there will be rumours. The director was careful to make sure that YT will walk back to ask that girl delete all the photos.
Totally agree with you! To me a cult just simply a community that has evolved to such a state where a great majority there share the same views, even if there could be minor disagreements here and there.
A religious cult, on the other hand, is a totally different animal. No one can create a religious cult in MDL where people who do not like this drama are simply chased out of here. MDL will not permit it.
Religious cults do have leaders. Here, it is pretty much leaderless. People can say pretty much whatever they want. But there are lots of intelligent people here. Those who want to make more than one or two sentences must make sure they know what they are talking about, or they will be challenged.
Agree with you. There are some people who hate others for no reason. It is a fact that we cannot satisfy every…
And I agree with you.
If people say YY looks a bit expression now, I am actually inclined to believe. Compared to QJJ, Yu Tu does look expressionless. But many say that is his character, the script calls for him to behave like that. So, let's give him a chance. It is only fair. Because many also say, later episodes, he will have to emote more. Looking at the trailers, I suspect those will be scenes when he tries to win QJJ's love. If, in those scenes his facial expressions remain unchanged, we may truly have to question his acting abilities. For me? I think his facial expressions will change.
I read somewhere, the first person that Gu Man wants to play Yu Tu is Yang Yang. She is the author of the novel and the screenwriter for this drama. No one knows the character of Yu Tu better than Gu Man. So I think Yang Yang will do a good job changing his facial expressions later.
I'm liking this drama right now, but I also think this is a byproduct of having a comparably mediocre slide of…
You have made a very detailed description of your impression of this drama thus far. And I am inclined to agree with Reixx, that there could well be a mismatch between what you are looking for and what this drama is offering you.
There is hardly a need for you to recommend this drama to anyone. Usually, after a few episodes, most people will know what they want. If there is a good match, they stay. If the match is not good, they leave.
Please don't think I'm a hater. I just want to ask if this drama is worth for watching??? Honestly, I've been…
Not really. E1 is just the intro to the drama. All the main characters, what are their occupations now, back story to the past relationships between the two main leads. The plot will be revealed episode by episode. And it will get more interesting.
But E1 does give you what the 'feel' of the drama is like. It is not going to be a teenage rom-com, but a serious drama, with just a sprinkling of humour here and there. It is a serious adult drama that will later on deal with adult issues like workplace problems, relationship issues and so on.
The leads are actress and actors of the highest calibre in China, and will give you what you are looking for, if you enjoy good acting. Supporting cast is great. OST, BGM are all great.
There is no band here. No committee. No club. I am not the spokeperson, nor the leader of the band. Just an ordinary viewer of the drama, just like everyone here.
And the true intention is to make 'them' understand, hey, we are not trying to force anything down your throat, but truly trying to have a healthy exchange of views with you. Please share with us your views, and we can get along just fine.
You have engaged me before, and you know full well that I am not out to attack anyone. At no point in time have I called you any 'name' nor directed any nasty stuff at all.
It isn't all a bad thing that many 'they' have left. Because, if 'they' keep staying here and read all these stuff, how 'we' are gushing over the drama and the performance of the two leads, 'they' will not feel good. Like fish out of water. "They" should just go to the page of a drama they like, that has actress/actor they feel are great, and stay there, comment and enjoy their time with likeminded people there.
I do see as a win-win situation. No one gets hurt.
Like you have so wisely observed, this place has become a place for everyone to share views, have fun and enjoy each other's presence. That does not mean we have become robots, though. Even among the 'we' there will be differences of views. But that is only healthy. We are not clones here.
Many of us came here from the page of The Long Ballad. We totally enjoy interacting and getting to know Yang Yang fans that are here. I don't have the numbers, but I suspect we could be older, hence slightly more vocal. But we are not here to 'takeover' this forum, nor to overwhelm Yang Yang fans. As long as we are here, we will just be part this family, in as much we were part of the family at TLB.

I think it becomes Xianxia, once all those magical stuff like spells and so on are used. The Untamed does have some of those, though not quite as much as ELOD or TMOPB.
Wuxia is purely focused on fighting, mainly sword fighting stuff and other kungfu stuff. No magic.
And historical is heavily into history, with lots of large scale epic battles.
TLB is a blend of history (because of some of the historical elements like the Xuanwu gate incident) and Wuxia, because there is some sword fighting involved, but completely not a Xianxia, because there is no fantasy or magical stuff involved.
Very very good! You will love it. But, it is not a pure Wuxia drama. More like a historical. It does have some…
Oh? In that case we can be just about 100% sure that there was no kisses because he must have promised the production team of the movie that his first on-screen will be portrayed in the movie and not in TLB.
They likely need it more than the TLB does, though I feel sure that more people would have watched TLB if there were kisses.
Episode 15 gotta be the most epic but also heartbreaking. General A Dou shall forever live on in my heart...
I watched the drama first, before reading some of the manhua stuff. Apart from the fact that she is taller and bigger than the Li Changge, her behaviours and mannerisms fit the manhua version almost completely. Her mole, her hairstyle, etc. Whatever the production team can humanly do, they try to make her look like Li Changge, and Dilraba's acting did the rest.
Same for Leo. It was difficult to make his costume same like the one in the manhua. And, in the manhua, Ashile Sun was of course much taller than Changge, because the manhua Changge was so small. I remember Mujin kept calling her 'little' strategist.
