No less than what I would expect from Golden Horse Best Leading Actor and one of the best actresses in China. Having them star in a historical idol drama is like asking a college professor to teach grade school. They'd just make the drama quality 3 times better than it already is.

Ikr! ML looks old because his character is supposed to be more mature. Plus his good looks are still super noticeable even though they were toned down. FL's acting was so good I didn't even notice she looked old for the role.

I feel the same! I actually loved that he looked more mature than other male leads we're accustomed to. He really has this reliable, protective, resolute vibe that makes his character attractive. And yes, if Chang Chen looked as handsome as usual I would've been too distracted by his looks to focus on the story.

YES!!! I agree with you sooo much! The OTP is really the ultimate pairing. I rewatch their scenes all the time. The side couples were interesting too, especially Shi San and Si Ming they crack me up XD

The plot isn't as similar as it seems at first glance. Do give this a chance if you like beautiful love stories like TMOPB!

I always thought the stylists did him dirty. They probably made him look older on purpose to fit the character, but this drama could've been more popular if he looked as hot as he normally does. I ain't complaining tho, cuz I still found him attractive as Jiu Chen.

About Ni Ni being too old for the role, I actually thought her acting was good enough to make up for it. Her acting was so natural and believable that she was able to convince me that she was a young naive girl, despite her looks not matching the role.

I understand where you're coming from. Some parts were indeed a bit slow, and although I didn't feel bored at all, I can understand why some people would. I liked how they would put little details that they would throwback to, and the plot was really engaging in general.

I can't get this drama out of my head, HELP! The scenes keep popping up 24/7. Worst withdrawal I've ever experienced in dramaland. I'm afraid I'll never get over this. I envy those who haven't finished watching it cuz I wish I could erase my brain and watch it all over again :(
