They need to keep Jin’s character as non-problematic as possible, so they can’t follow the manga storyline fully since so much of the plot there involves dubcon sex. That’s understandable, however it means Akin’s character becomes too passive or stand-offish towards Jin.

In the manga for example, when Jin says “if you leave I won’t chase after you”, Akin doesn’t leave. I assume they will resolve the situation just the way they did in the manga, with Johnny explaining, but they changed this scene in the middle.

Stories with a love triangle theme, where the main character is torn between two potential love interests, are satisfying when it doesn’t feel like the endgame is a consolation prize. If the MC goes for the endgame LI only because they can’t get the one they originally wanted, that’s hardly a romance. Those feelings should come naturally, not because that’s the safe option.

Unfortunately in this narrative, by dragging out Heesu’s feelings over ChanYoung so much and by already showing CY in a relationship, it’s starting to feel SW is just the consolation prize Heesu will end up with. Which is unfortunate, because Heesu and SW are actually so cute together when they get screen time.

Light on Me did the love triangle so much better, because the MC could go back to his original crush if he wanted to by the end, but he chose not to because he realized his feelings for the endgame was deeper.

This is a character driven, slice of life series, showing vignettes of friendship and fluffy romance. This is NOT plot driven, nor is it trying to be so. This is NOT reinventing the wheel but taking us on a sweet, peaceful journey. Viewers should understand the type of show they are getting here, it’s simply meant to be comfort watch filled with adorable characters, an amazing friend group and cute romances.

Phum and Peem definitely knew they liked each other, they just wanted to prolong the flirting phase.
