This is a mess and not in a fun way. FK’s storyline just doesn’t click, good actors made to act out incoherent characters. There’s nothing in their dynamic which makes for an enjoyable romance. JD’s story is somewhat better but still pretty mid. It’s a pity, I really wanted this show to be good 🫤
I was really enjoying this show but episode 6 is preposterous. The whole arc of the nurse searching the house and everyone being fine with it without even a plan in place to protect her. I don’t expect the police procedure to be top notch, but it has to have a basic level of believability at least. Also, there is almost zero romance 🙁 it’s sad because they are good actors who actually do have the capability to portray an intense romance
What are you talking about, did you read the novel?
In the book, Ming is much younger than Joe but doesn’t give him the respect afforded to the elders. Ming is infatuated with Tong and even though he is falling in love with Joe, he is in denial. So he calls Tong ge but doesn’t do it with Joe.
The first time he calls him ge is when he kidnaps him. So just when Ming is betraying Joe in the worst possible way, that’s the first time he gives him the respect Joe has wanted just to pacify him about the betrayal. It’s heartbreaking.
Now, by changing the age dynamics in the series, that entire emotional arc is meaningless.
What are you talking about, did you read the novel?
Yes I did. The reason why Joe falls for Ming in the first place is because he’s so incredibly hot and he can’t believe that someone that attractive wants to sleep with an average joe like him. This is emphasised several times, not just once.
Also, Ming in the book is very young, 20-21 when they first meet. So his immature behavior makes more sense there, its not justified how he treats Joe but at least he’s still quite young to understand how badly he’s behaving.
In the series, Ming is neither young nor super hot. So it makes no sense why Joe is attracted to him in the first place and why he would be willing to put up with the immature behavior of a man older than he is. Joe is supposed to be 33, not younger than Ming.
Many other nuances lost from the book, like for eg how poignant it is that Ming refused to call Joe “ge” and only does so when he is betraying him so badly.
Some parts are entertaining but overall, I wouldn’t say it’s very good. And there’s no depth or twists yet, probably yet to come. Only one couple has tension, the other is pretty bland.
Jack and Joker is what The Heart Killer aspires to be. You see how they never once derailed from the plot? How…
Lmao, THK barely got started with its plot, it’s 2 eps in! What kind of weird comparison 😂
This is why I can’t take hardcore fan reviews seriously, it’s so obviously biased. I do think THK is quite flawed until now actually, but to pretend that this series is better when the plot was so badly written and nonsensical for the most part, is ridiculous!
I don't like the Kant character. Unfortunately, we can't post screenshots here, otherwise I would post a picture…
My issue with Kant’s “unique” style is that it doesn’t seem organic or lived in lol. It’s very obviously costume-y, trying to add interest to a flat character. I really enjoyed First’s past characters, but this one is not interesting yet. Hopefully that will change soon
although im a hardcore fan of the cp, im also a hardcore fan of thriller/action kdramas and i think this delivered?…
The heists were lazily written and not clever, the plot was illogical for the most part, even though episodes were very long, much of the characterisation was sketchily portrayed and not well established. The comedy lacked wit, many of the scenes didn’t flow well, the romance was too sparsely portrayed to be believable and touching.
I wanted to enjoy this series but it was too messy and amateurish in parts for me to do so.
Blegh, I can understand wanting to see more BL series with mature/darker plots, I want the same. But at what point do we stop and look at the actual script? Because this one pretty much sucked. What’s the point of taking on a mature story if it’s told so badly?
I was looking forward to this show and it was just disappointing. Like, of course it’s mostly the CP fans keeping the rating high, but cmon, even you must know it’s nowhere near that good. I prefer a well made fluffy show over a badly written mature plot series.
Meh… will FB ever do actually decent series? All their output is so mid. I enjoyed them in Peaceful Property so I tried to watch this one, but it’s back to their usual standard. Unfortunate
I hope this director and screenwriters will work on a TayNew BL series next.
Yes please! They are on such a roll now, Cherry Magic and Peaceful Property back to back! They need to follow these two up with another equally good series.
Gmmtv directors are usually not bad, where they are let down are the scripts. Hire some good writers for gods sake.
the comments that are like this show isn't realistic don't really understand why it isn't supposed to be😭 I…
Fantasy must always have a set of rules which should be adhered to. That is why world building in fantasy is so important. You can’t just hand wave anything that happens by saying “oh it’s supposed to be a fantasy”. Fantasy without any inherent logic is meaningless and just bad writing.
Most of the people are bashing this show left and right but the rating is so fuckin high, how so?! It's not making…
This series is financed by the actors so their fans are extremely invested in wanting it to do well. Most of the ratings came in before the first episode even finished airing. This is hardcore fanbase review, not the general audience.

Also for a “non bl” how is it more romantic and emotional than most BLs?
