after the village burned things got political and real. there wasn't really that much comedy.
My take was on the king and Yool Mu, one moment the king was a crazy tyrant and then, a complex misunderstood character( it didn't feel like we were peeling off his layers but again I've stopped in ep 9 so idk if it all made more sense later on) And Yool Mu was just tragic, his personality twist/suprise was weird, there was almost no build up for his dark side, since there was no suspension about his character when he went batsh*t I was like " ookay", Also like I said, I'm not mad about main leads desicions but the screen time that their romance/angst got in the capital and Yool Mu in that whole equation. I guess I just wanted plot to move faster.

I actually love political dramas but this drama's focal point shifted in a snap which threw me off a bit and even that would've been fine had they not included the half hearted romance angst along with it, imo they couldn't find the right balance to the point characters felt almost inconsistent.
After the villiage burned down I kinda lost all my interest, their seperation was useless and idk the angst was underwhelming while the comedy was no longer as pronounced. I would've continue to watch it for the king but still overall story became too flat for my taste.
p.s. I adore kim so hyun's acting and actually the male lead was pretty damn good too but like I said ... the plot.. ugh whatever.
There are those times in life where you get an immense amout of comfort which you didn't even realise that you needed it, this drama was just like that. I loved it to bits and if I had only a word to describe this drama it would be "hope". I think that was the overall message, no matter how hard life gets, the existence of any shred of hope is what propels us to live. Sometimes, giving someone a chance, talking to them, forgiving them, helping them... all of those might be actually for yourself. Just give drama a chance it might be just what you needed... or not and that's the beauty of life, you won't know it, till you try it :)
THANK YOU! Kidnapping in fantasy works but not reality. He was torturing her, a bit more than what I see in Boys…
"The writer has issues too, he randomly abandoned her alone in a big ship when she finally accepted him (proves he's not worthy, it's not like they had never been through any danger together before, they went through tons it made 0 sense!) and then he wants her again just because she was being with another guy..." He sounds like a total jerk, are there any redeeming points to him? cause if not I'm not gonna even try to watch this and I'm in dire of something light hearted and fluffy.
okay, I almost didn't watch the extra footage after the credits, I love this series so far but those cuts make this even better. I really felt bad for Seri, I'm fine however her love line ends like but I really hope that her family can actually come to care for her sincerely.
I agree, you would have thought he would have stepped in out of common sense, but he is there to protect HeeJae…
it was kinda funny how he was behind hee jae in that scene XD like hee jae at least is in omg wtf is going on mode but all he does is standing behind her, totally zoned out
I didn't cry for anyone but sunho! and is Hee Jae serious! after everything she just sat there just to blame sunho…
um, did you forget how he choose not to disclose his father's fault in order to preserve his life, oh well, I don't hate him, actually he is my favourite character on the show but seoyun's death is on him. He could've let her escape long ago but he did not because he had his own agenda which again I don't blame him for being this way yet all of his choices cumulatively caused seoyun's death, Nam Jeon might be the real preparator but Seon Ho was the one who enabled it's completion.
remember when sunho thought hwi was dead so he risked his life just to get hwi's sister out, and he fought everyone…
I kinda agree but still he should've done all of these before sh*t hit the fan, like from the very start he should've owned his faults and gave up on his position, at the end of the day he tried to fix something he was the cause, it wasn't some heroic self sacrifice but a much owned debt he had to pay
This was wonderful, I'm in love with all of these characters, it's been such a long time since I really cared about the characters themselves, I'm glad that producers chose actors that can actually carry the plot, ugh be still my heart, this has become one of my favourite dramas
p.s. The only downside for me was the OSTs, they were mediocre at best and I think a good OST completes the drama, unfortunately in this case it was the opposite.
I'm beyond confused and in desperate need for a second watch but I think KSY out performed himself, it was just awesome and I think I might just love this movie.
Pleasantly surprised by this series. Started it unintentionally, fully expecting to drop it early on, but it delivers…
Most of the time I see him as just lady kim and "her" scenes with dong joo are like out of a yuri genre, their chemistry is on fire and Nokdu looks too hot in women's clothes more so than in men's which is why I'm beyond confused while watching it. XDD This drama took me by suprise and I hope it just keeps the quality consistent down by the road cause so far I'm in love.
Usually I'm not into school drama (as most likely I don't feel related to them because of my age) but this is…
I don't even classify this as a school drama, the context is much more than that which is why I love it in the first place. Dan Oh might be in a shoujo manwha yet her real stuggle is with fate itself, her challenge to writer is almost like a declaration to god in some sense. Also her monologs about self awareness is quite impactful and thought provoking. Had I read the synopsis or watched the trailer I would've marked this of something as a cliche run of the mill drama yet so far it certainly delivered a lot more than what it promised.
I just love this sort of "what if" scenarios, no matter how cliche it may get when it's done right the result is wonderful and so far I think this drama is one of those. Rain is carrying the weight of the character perfectly, I don't know if it's due to his personal life or he seasoned his acting skills but either way, I'm pleasantly surprised how it is easy to watch this. This drama isn't a realistic portrayal of crime based events but it knows how to pull one's heartstrings, for all the choices we make there are certain consequences and this drama is a little reminder for that, which is why I really like this drama.
I still have so many feelings about Yan Xun. I fell in love with his character more than any other in that show…
yan xun wasn't a villain but someone who was broken by circumstances then he mended himself to become a soulless ruler, it was his choice and I don't blame him for doing what he did, you can't be a good person to everyone but at the end he wasn't even good to that one person who saved, protected, loved, trusted and has been loyal to him, which made him unlikeable for me. I also read the ending for the novel, someone was kind enough to translate important bits of the whole ordeal so after reading those Yan Xun become even more unpleasant to me, Xing'er was just another woman to him, ugh... if that's how he treats his lifelong friend/kinda lover who has done so much for him, I can't imagine how he would rule his nation
And Yool Mu was just tragic, his personality twist/suprise was weird, there was almost no build up for his dark side, since there was no suspension about his character when he went batsh*t I was like " ookay",

p.s. Hyangmi-yah, I'll remember you.
