Grew up in the 90s watching TVB dramas and they still have some of the best detective series. Luckily, they have been uploading some of the classics (Detective Investigation Files, anyone?) onto their official Youtube channel so I can now take a trip down memory lane.
I can understand where you're coming from. Ji Xiangkong neglecting Qiu Ying for Miya was definitely frustrating…
Getting rejected shouldn't mean she should give up, so she still tried because at that point, JXK and QY weren't official. And thanks to Miya's fans, they pushed QY toward JXK.
Miya was like any other ex-girlfriend out there in dramaland, holding onto false hope even though she knew her chances were slim. Stubborn, but also pitiful. I also don't find her narcissist because she was testing the waters with JXK when she said QY reminded him of her. She didn't actually sound too confident, and she thought if JXK admitted it, then it would have given her more hope to hold onto. Again, pitiful but totally understandable.
Ji Xiang Kong probably still liked Miya when she showed up at like, Episode Twenty but I think he stopped liking…
I can understand where you're coming from. Ji Xiangkong neglecting Qiu Ying for Miya was definitely frustrating for me as well, but I can totally see why he would do that. He has never been the person to leave someone at their lowest point. We see that in every meaningful friendship he develops in the drama. And with Miya, they're more than just ex-partners. They grew up together, as Miya explained to Qiu Ying, so they're really like family. So that was no way JXK would leave Miya when she needed him the most. Not that it makes those scenes any less frustrating, but I believe there was good reason for them. Plus, it gave Qiu Ying the leeway to go back to pursuing her dream.
In a way, I feel quite bad for Miya. I know she made a choice to give up the relationship but I can see why she regretted it. I can't be mad at her for coming back to reconcile the relationship, though. And because JXK hadn't made it clear about his feelings for Qiu Ying before it was too late, it was understandable for Miya to have hope.
I was worried Lu Jin would continue to allow Li Man and his mother insult Sheng Nan, but thank goodness he didn’t…
I agree, but it also reveals to Lu Jin what kind of a person (Li Man) has been by his side all these years. And it was so satisfying to see him put Li Man on the spot. After this, I think it reaffirms his feelings for Sheng Nan. So while I'm annoyed by his mom and Li Man, I'm not that mad because they drove him closer to Sheng Nan, haha.
I was worried Lu Jin would continue to allow Li Man and his mother insult Sheng Nan, but thank goodness he didn’t…
Agree! I think it's a bit of both. From their first conversation alone, I think she did have some respect for Shengnan. Too bad Shengnan's friends ruined whatever respect she had for her. I'm guessing she also hadn't thought of how deeply in love his son is with Shengnan either. The stunned look on her face when he walked out of the dinner was quite satisfying to watch, haha.
Isn't suci too reckless and emotional as a smart young detective who has been admitted to only hearing the voice…
That's the only time she was out of character. She's fine everywhere else. Besides, the misunderstanding cleared so quickly that it just became a small hiccup in the story.
I was worried Lu Jin would continue to allow Li Man and his mother insult Sheng Nan, but thank goodness he didn’t…
Same, I liked the way he handled the dinner. His mom, though. She said she wanted to invite Sheng Nan to dinner so she wouldn't come across as a bully and yet turns around to publicly humiliate her. What a hypocrite.
I can understand you. Her character in Love of Thousand Years is something different, though. A little more mature…
Which is why this one is refreshing because he isn't really a poker faced ML. His facial expressions, mannerisms and overall character is more relatable.
I can't lie to myself I started to get bored of Zhao Lusi's typecast in every drama
I can understand you. Her character in Love of Thousand Years is something different, though. A little more mature and wasn't entirely cutesy. Unfortunately, I don't think she's at a stage where she can freely choose scripts yet. Sometimes actors and actresses are stuck with whatever is given to them or they don't get any work at all. And with newcomers appearing every year, actresses like Lusi have to keep working to keep her status. I do think she has potential to make it as big as Zhao Liying, who's considered a more serious actress now. It's only a matter of time before Lusi gets a meaty role that can showcase her acting range. Until then, I guess we'll just have to ride along with these romcoms. (Actually, the bigger question is: why do scriptwriters keep writing the same FLs? But that's another story haha.)
In ep 11 we finally are told the age gap between the two leads. Lu Jin is 36 and Gu Shengnan is 21. There are times when I can't really tell the difference because LJ can be very teenager like. Lol.
Something else interesting to note: it's revealed that both characters are Scorpios. In real life, Lusi is a Scorpio while Lin Shen was born on the cusp of Libra/Scorpio but he identifies as the latter in an interview he did last year. I like that the script brought this into the characters haha.
ok the vibes in this drama are immaculate and I love the plot.... however sorry, no one attack me but, come on…
That's OK, he doesn't have to be everyone's cup of tea.
For some reason this page still has the synopsis of the movie where she did have a cheating boyfriend. In the drama, we haven't been introduced to any ex-boyfriends so not sure if she even has one or one that cheated on her.
I was pretty confident that Gu shengnan would be felt so impressed or swoon about fancy crystal lamp.. appearently…
I laughed so hard at Lu Jin's face when she said that to him. That's what makes this drama charming. They don't play by the usual rules. And instead of being floored by a bouquet of roses, she chops them up for a sauce, totally missing his intentions of trying to be more romantic haha.

Agree that her friend is trash. She needs new friends.
