I have to admit, I’m getting the same flashbacks with you, and no matter how much I try to convince myself not…
I get what you mean. They really do an amazing job at delivering content, but it’s so frustrating when everything around it feels so rigid and ends up separating actors who clearly have incredible chemistry. I still ache for Johnny Huang and Timmy Xu 😭
At least they found that loophole and now we’re getting almost uncensored BLs. And honestly, they just keep getting better and better. Ever since Revenged Love, it’s been hard for me to get into BLs from other countries.

It wasn’t. Two years must have passed since their deaths in the series.

Title Sammy's Children's Day Spoiler
Yes i think 3 years (in book) not sure for series but it gives hint
I think it was 4 years. Liuyi was 24 when Azure Dragon died, and he "fulfilled his revenge" at 28.

It’s China so I don’t have high hopes, I’m trying not to have any at all, but I loved their story and the series more than I expected 💛
You should start the novel too, it’s even better than the series and quite different.

Novels are almost always much better than their adaptations. The issue with A Certain Someone is that I had already read it before the show even finished airing, so it was really disappointing not to see the full story on screen. And I’m worried the same thing will happen here too. At least having read the novel gives some sense of closure, but it’s still frustrating to be left with an unfinished story.
I honestly don’t know which is worse, leaving the story unfinished and just hoping for a miracle and a second season, or trying to squeeze all the key parts into the last two episodes. But the way things are going, I really feel like they’re going to leave it unfinished and keep the door open for another season.

Which one? Chusan's Liuyi Children's Day or The Only One? I've read them both.

Have you watched "To my Shore?"THAT was my hyperfixation for month! I rewatched it every time a new episode…
To My Shore is something else. Personally, it’s my absolute favorite, but read the tags before you watch it. It’s very, very toxic!

I honestly don't know if I've ever been this entertained by a BL show. This drama just delivers everything. Interesting…
I have to admit, I’m getting the same flashbacks with you, and no matter how much I try to convince myself not to think about it and just enjoy the series, I can’t help worrying that we’re going to get a repeat of The On1y One 😩

I wouldn’t call it toxic. Not really. Their relationship is actually very beautiful. It’s just that since one of them is a Triad leader, of course a lot of messy and difficult things happen in their lives. It’s sooo good, one of the best I've read in years. And of course I’d recommend reading it after the series is finished rather than right now, since it’s quite different from the show.

On Sammy's Children's Day Apr 17, 2026
I have to give a huge shoutout to this production and everyone involved in it. Honestly, this is the first time in my life that I’ve watched an adaptation of a novel that strays so far from the original story and adds so many new scenes, yet I can’t find a single thing that bothers me. On the contrary, each new episode keeps raising the bar even higher.
Even though the events unfold differently compared to the novel, the main actors have done such an incredible job bringing their characters to life. It’s genuinely impressive.
I’m especially amazed by and really admire how well He Chang Xi portrays Chusan. But in today’s episode, Xe Yan Zhao completely blew me away. He was absolutely flawless and truly matched the outstanding performance of He Yan Zhao. In this episode, it honestly felt like I could see all the thoughts and insecurities I read about in the novel reflected on his face.
They’re all exceptional. I have no words. They’ve truly moved me 💛

They met when Chusan was 21 and Liuyi 24. Up to episode 6 they should be 23 and 26.
He died at 35, I think. The novel has an extra story about him from when he was 21 until his death. It was so good that I wish they would make a spin off out of it 😁
