They didn’t know each other from the past. In the first episodes, there is no clear explanation for Fan Xiao’s obsession. There isn’t an established prior relationship or shared history. The show simply presents Fan Xiao projecting something onto You Shou Lang and becoming fixated on him for reasons that haven’t been given to the audience yet. You didn’t miss any scenes, the confusion is intentional and only makes sense later on.

Just an update, the person from the production who wrote that comment on her profile a week ago or so, has come out and apologized. She explained that it was an emotional response and said that the filming for the special episode has already been successfully completed, only the editing is left now. Yun Qi and Hao Yiran also said the same thing during their live yesterday and confirmed that the shoots are finished. So there’s no need to worry, we will get the special 🥰
