I read that the republican drama will be produced by both iqiyi/tencent but there's also melon sources saying only tencent is producing. we'll see later this month tho. he doesn't have much public events in june so I guess he's preparing for the role. 90 days of filming is actually relatively short, for reference 28 episode TBT took over 100 days. I imagine this one will be even shorter in episodes which is good for me because I can't sit through lengthy dramas lol

also I keep calling it republican drama because I still don't know what the official english title is and the direct translation is awkward lol it would translate to "in the next minute over fire".. lol

the funniest part of this no-kissing stuff is the source novel this drama is based on is like 90% love making loool they could've picked a difference novel to adapt if they were going to make it so sterile.

she hasn't really done many romance dramas in general. liu haocun debuted doing a bunch of artsy zhang yimou movies where not much romance is involved.

I agree. Maybe it's because I read the novel first but this has wayyy too much comedy compared to the novel. sometimes it's inserted in parts that doesn't require comedy.

there were rumors that youku (the platform streaming this) is hardcore cutting down on episode lengths this year so I was surprised by that episode length. although I guess we won't know until they get the broadcast license.

wait I just noticed the number of episodes, does this really have 40 episodes?? I feel like that's way too long for this type of genre

ngl I read the novel before and I thought it was a strange pick for live action because about 60% of the novel is sex scenes lol

I think the problem here is that there’s one large fanbase purposely amplifying the situation and trying to bring it to the attention of the ccp. Under normal circumstances this should air with no issue. I remember SOKP 3rd male lead has problems with political opinions but the drama aired normally, and he had significant amount of scenes at the beginning of the drama. the production team just censored his name from promotions.

But like i said, it’s tough to predict here because that fandom is trying to make the issue worse

imo she needs to fix her posture. that's one of the things I noticed from her new drama. she kind of slouches a lot and it's distracting given what her character is supposed to be and the time period.
