honestly I think this could be doing much better if the promo material wasn't so misleading. tencent made it seem like this would be a typical youth romance drama (like stuff the leads have done in the past) but this is more like.. an investigative thriller

so I read on XHS that Overdo (lol this english title) already finished the table read and finalized the hair/costumes. booting ceremony is scheduled for the 25th. guess we'll see pics from daipais soon

it honestly depends on CCTV 8's scheduling and it always changes randomly. Our Generation is only 24 episodes tho so it'll basically finish airing in a week (TV broadcasts air daily with no pauses)

I'm laughing so hard because there so much PLOT lol I remember chinese walnuts were worried TBT wouldn't air well because it didn't have much of a plot but thankfully it did well. Now Linghe did a 180 and took on a drama that has too much plot

I read that the republican drama will be produced by both iqiyi/tencent but there's also melon sources saying only tencent is producing. we'll see later this month tho. he doesn't have much public events in june so I guess he's preparing for the role. 90 days of filming is actually relatively short, for reference 28 episode TBT took over 100 days. I imagine this one will be even shorter in episodes which is good for me because I can't sit through lengthy dramas lol

also I keep calling it republican drama because I still don't know what the official english title is and the direct translation is awkward lol it would translate to "in the next minute over fire".. lol

the funniest part of this no-kissing stuff is the source novel this drama is based on is like 90% love making loool they could've picked a difference novel to adapt if they were going to make it so sterile.

she hasn't really done many romance dramas in general. liu haocun debuted doing a bunch of artsy zhang yimou movies where not much romance is involved.

I agree. Maybe it's because I read the novel first but this has wayyy too much comedy compared to the novel. sometimes it's inserted in parts that doesn't require comedy.

there were rumors that youku (the platform streaming this) is hardcore cutting down on episode lengths this year so I was surprised by that episode length. although I guess we won't know until they get the broadcast license.
