I've been thinking about this...and to my surprise I think it was actually a lot earlier than I thought, on ep9. I didn't even need the fully-integrated-with-his-emotions SDYQ 2.0. I honestly think it was that scene during the meteor shower when I knew he was top notch, swoon-worthy, grade A quality husband material:
YouQin: “Tonight I grant you the Rooftop Swallow Mansion star as a gift. May your life be like the stars, shining bright in the skies, having no fears on Earth. May you earn respect and admiration by millions and yet embrace the ordinariness of life.”
The ending is poetic when you think about this quote.
I just finished The Blue Whisper (Which I loved) and eventhough the ML doesn't start toxic he becomes that way…
Bravo...so well written. Knowing the pain and neglect that Yetan went through, this drama did so much to establish him as more than just the hero of the universe, but something even more important, a worthy husband and life partner, someone who saw all colors of her, just as she saw all colors of him. He fell in love with all parts of her and she with all parts of him, and the three shards is such a perfect metaphor for that.
Hello Saturday CXX x LLD moments with English Subs. Omg he asked the production for a blanket for her and that's why they had two. She didn't know he'd already asked for one. https://youtu.be/nLVivDChgpE
Untamed is more wuxia with some fantasy added to it. I woudn't consider it xianxia, though some consider it a hybrid because of the fantasy elements but it honestly doesn't really meet the criteria for xianxia.
Re-posting this. A fan wrote fanfic about QinTan after YT is revived. https://archiveofourown.org/tags/The%20Starry%20Love
Oh yes...and I'm reposting the intro because....why not "Youqin is still sensitive to physical touch, even though he longs for it; a side effect of having deprived himself of such things for over a millennia.
I can never get enough of touching you, he says to her sometimes."
On the ending, I take the liberty to repost an earlier reflection on the interpretation. Many people are unsatisfied…
Couldn't agree more. It's not really an open ending, it's a happy ending, just not quite what we expected. I think this misunderstanding needs to be cleared up for once and for all. What's open is the details of the reunion, but do we know there will be a regular reunion, we do 100%. And the tone of the ending is fully happy. As an aside, thanks for pointing out the often missed but so key detail of each husband feeding the other one's flower, it's just such a beautiful interconnection. Their bond is now a bond of four, forever.
While i shouldn't say that this type of redemption is uncommon in dramas, I did not expect this drama to handle…
Your posts are great, I love seeing scenes analyzed like this. While the drama was on air we were so caught up in the emotions we missed a lot of really valuable discussions regarding some of the most poignant scenes.
