this show was good and enjoyable, but I agree it was messy messy with SO MUCH going on in one show. Was the writer wishy washy on what type of drama he wanted to create so he just jammed it ALL into one? Possibly. Oh and one thing I wondered about... in a spoiler comment below.

The way to survive is to just focus on the OST
I feel really stupid because I've seen that term a lot on here, but what does OST stand for? :)

I went to recommend something and then I looked at your list and realized you've seen most of the great ones!…
I've been feeling like I've "seen it all" HA! Thanks so much. I think all three of those are on my "plan to watch list" so I'll give them a try. The "battle" one first! :)

I don't think any other historical drama will EVER come close to being as amazing as this one. But... does anyone have any recommendations for great Chinese historicals that are somewhat similar or with even more romance & political or harem intrigue?
Replying to Gavrielle Mar 24, 2020
You should. The story is quite good, not boring. And there’s a lot of pranang moments here. :)
I didn't realize there was a prequel/first season, so I watched this one first and it was fine. :) I didn't have any issues knowing what was going on.

if there's one trope I hate...
it's giving the bad guy an illness at the end to make everyone feel sorry & forgive them for being disgusting the entire show -_- ep. 19.

My favorite drama ever. & I just wanted to say here for anyone else who is a HUGE fan of this show like I am, so you can also feel my pain, by OMG when Grandma cried a few times in the show (remember the few scenes???) ... I BALLED MY EYES OUT with her. Every. Time. (yes, I've watched it several times HA) What a FABULOUS actress. ALL of the cast was f*n amazing!
On Love Better Than Immortality Mar 22, 2020
another thing as an FYI... on Amazon Prime & YT... the ENG Subs are subpar. Not sure why this is the case, but they were not good and you kind of have to at times "figure out" what they meant to say. Some words/ending of sentences just weren't there at all. After starting on Amazon, I tried YT to see if the subs were different, but they're the same. I'm unsure if they are better anywhere else. They aren't SO BAD you can't tell what's going on, but they can be a bit distracting.
On Love Better Than Immortality Mar 22, 2020
Cute with no real plot... but fun to watch regardless. Definitely was distracted by the messy/blotchy makeup, visible hairnets, and visible netting where the wigs were attached to their heads/faces, and that one close up of our ML's eyes and you could see some kind of netting hanging from his lashes. wth? USUALLY I'm pretty forgiving and overlook that kind of stuff, but I've never seen it quite so "in your face obvious" before this show. Again. no plot or story to care about and yet somehow I still watched the whole damn thing and kind of enjoyed it. I have no idea what's going on in my life. LOL

Ditto. For ten nano seconds I thought he was hot but now he just gives me a stomachache. FF = best thing since…
@moondust that's the truth! HA! He came across as an intriguing/roguish character with a dangerous side who tried to help those in need and then turned into this whiney brat 5 seconds later. He does not get better, maybe even worse. UGH!

OMG. I'm 17 minutes in ep 1 and laughing my butt off. I'm going to enjoy this!
On Well-Intended Love Season 2 Mar 20, 2020
the ONLY episode/scene I really loved and busted out laughing was when they were all hiding from each other in MuMu's apartment. Hilarious. Other than that... the drama was way too boring/repetitive.
