after taking a short vacation I’m able to catch up with this series. it’s rare a show catches my attention and focus for every episode but when it is beautifully written and directed…oh the chemistry and the way they both pleased each other was purely magical it’s a of they’ve rehearsed this many time.
I’m just recovering from the trauma of The journey of legend and so I just started this series and looking good let’s hope they can sustain this intensity through most of the episodes.
You absolutely hit the nail on this series. I have been feeling exactly the agonizing thoughts throughout the show and feel bad for the actors. Unfortunately some may see our thoughts about that show as an attack to Cheng Yi which is not at all though given his acting was very flat and unconvincing. Thank you for thoroughly expressing my feelings about the show as well.
And I agree with you. I think Cheng Yi did fine with LCZ but I felt something was sometimes on and off with XQS…
yes a major issue with the script indeed. it started getting better and then…it ended. and in every movie it is first and foremost about the storyline which is the script IMHO
I also disagree with you. This serious had its flaws. But it is not CY 's fault and he did a great job for his role. He…
thank you for the comments and you are right CY acted according to his interpretation but also based on coaching from the Director, I just wasn’t impressed and I know and saw he could do better. he did play a better LCZ and the XS role because the previous had a more flat affect expression.
I disagree with your opinion. I dont think you can speak on behalf of other viewers too. Our opinions are subjective.…
I appreciate your thoughts on what I wrote and I am writing here to express my thoughts as well and I welcome a healthy discussion. I never discount or comment on the hard work when making any art work be it film or otherwise. I am just expressing my thoughts on what is lacking which you and I agree on. I still like CY’s previous work this is just not the one I liked. videos are very subjective I agree. and yes expectations have gone up not just me but many others.
Now that the series is finally over, and the diverse reviews we can finally move on. For me this was a difficult series to watch from the beginning but because I like Cheng Yi I decided to stay on, like many others. And J have been honest with my thoughts about this series, it is CY’s weakest role and worst acting (in crying and anger scenes). even worse, the production company with its poor script and storyline resulted in a lack of cohesiveness of the characters. I understand the value that CY expressed and the significance of Valiance but this series missed it completely.
It lacked the balance of highs and lows leaving viewers sad and upset and wondering which only means it lacked closure. The build up of the fight between brothers in the end left me wanting. The final episode is one the worst I have seen in any series. Again, leaving us wondering and left with so many questions unanswered. Cheng Yi will recover as he has many followers, but the series is doomed as it was from the beginning, it never truly recovered. Thank goodness there will be other series to watch
do the writers think AI will be the end of mankind? it seems that way or at least if your last name is Xiao then your doomed even if you adopted. I never liked this Cheng Yi series it’s his worst acting as well given the action is fairly good. but really even if the ending is good, the lack of cohesion shows evil wins over good in most of 40 episodes. why even bother waiting for the end. sorry Cheng Yi you lost me on this one.
He did-- he looked at him weirdly when he first saw him, and later he said in ep5 or something that even though…
yes I remember that just wondering though with such a resemblance it didn’t affect his curiosity very much. maybe I’m just making a deal out of nothing.
maybe it’s just me but episode 7 and the scene of the Holy Man war was epic in a simple way…it felt like it’s the Transition of the whole series from good to great…the actors all deserve praises and the direction some accolades. loving this series every minute of it.
Cheng Yi’s best acting skill I feel is a more expressionless role and he fits the cold and cruel role of the Chief instead of Xiao Q, he’s just not convincing when he is crying. I really want to root for the bad guys and in this case it’s the same actor. can’t lose.
Episode 7 and 8 is the time paradox but with 5 loops it seems to drag again creating a different version each time caused by the other loop individual but why so many episodes dedicated to MoMa? With only 16 episodes in total and it’s half way done they’ll run out of runway. Or is the whole story looping around the same individual’s cause and effect. It’s like watching the definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different outcome.
if the original novel written in the 70’s was it really necessary to add the AI virtual reality world. Though there have been movies that changed King Arthur and Excalibur with time travel with Merlin’s help, I personally feel the writer could have stayed close to the novel. after all episode 19 has redemption, finally I can breathe a little.
Whose bright idea was it to call this The Journey of Legend? Because honestly, it feels more like a path to becoming…
I have the same issue with this series so far though I think his more of a “victim mentality” as a result of severe depression and self pity. I do agree there is enough kick to make you want to hang on to the series it’s just unfortunate for Cheng Yi as the series makes him look bad in the first half. that’s a lot of episodes.
