Title Even Sun
KinnPorsche and Triage look like The Godfather compared to disasters like this, but I wouldn't put either of them…
I agree with your evaluation of KP (I really don't get MileApo), but not with the idea that Thai BLs are filled with sex scenes. It's the opposite - there are far less than there used to be. Remember series like Make It Right? They used to all have sex. It might not seem like it, but TharnType was 4 years ago.

I'm fine with love scenes, but so many of them are bad - I'd rather have no love scene and no kiss than a bad one of either. Sometimes hugs ar even bad. You have to work hard to make a hug bad.
On Hit Bite Love Jan 21, 2023
It says something about the writers that one of the opening lines is "If the school doesn't cooperate, the victim's parents may sue. Even worse, you will be condemned on social media." Can anyone guess the age of the author?

I'm not into this. Burger is adorable, but I was put off by the stereotypical teacher and the bad sex scene. You can have something like that, but it needs to be built up to - also, one of them looked uncomfortable and these are children, so it's icky. And that long scene over joining the drama club - are entry requirements for a high school drama club that high?

So far, it feels like something from 2017. But the premiere is only half-over, so I'll wait until the end of the ep.

As someone who has seen crazy people go around beating people for looking at them the wrong way , would people…
Not to mention she walks home an hour or so later. The lack of consequences made the whole exercise unnecessary. I've been OK with fights starting bcause of the way people looked at each other, but this is a comedy and it's all been within that context. This was just too out of nowhere - it needed some buildup, like excalating hostility between Noey and whoever that guy was - I don't even know, which in itself is a problem.

I still like the series and I love the cast - this was just a misstep IMO.

Maybe Noeyis carrying on his father's gang.
Ok, but there are 2 episodes left - we shouldn' have to speculate. This is a setup that needed to be much earlier if that's the case.
On I Will Knock You Jan 21, 2023
OK, I like this series, but here's my problem: The gang thing is too central to the plot to leave it so vague. Why is Noey in a gang? What are the fights about? What are the factions and territories? What is the purpose and goal of the gang? RIght now I feel like I'm watching Meerkat Manor.

It's hard for the thug thing to have much meaning without understanding what's going on. It's also kind of like what a junior high school kid in a wealthy area might think gang violence is like. It's been cartoonish violence, and then out of nowhere it escalated in a huge way. Why does that guy hate Noey so much? What is their history?

And what were the stakes? Nothing. Everything is the same afterwards. There are no consequences.

I didn't love this episode. It was too tonally dissonant with the rest of the series, and there was none of the quirkiness that I missed.

Also that Phayu guy is gorgeous.
On My School President Jan 21, 2023
I was momentarily upset when they went the same ole' jealousy route, but it only lasted 2 minutes and fit nicely into the plot.

Fourth is really excellent, His expressions are perfect for "that made me feel warm inside even though that was corny as f$%", and Gemini is great at being aggressive but innocent and loses it a little when Gun touches him unexpectedly. But it's all subtle, and feels authentic.

The dance was of course cute, although my brain is bleeding from the heavy auto-tune. Except for Win - I guess he can really sing.

Everyone has good comic timing, especially Winny and Satang - those two were on fire. And this one of the best directed and edited BLs in a long time.

Yes, that was very special - their acting ability is what made it so emotionally draining to watch. Among the best in any BL.

Eternal Yesterday was too sad - but I recognize it was excellent. I didn't like the cop in Trapped either, but the ganster and both guys in the second couple were great. It probably wouldn't strike me as positively today, but it was one of the first that wasn't about school kids. If forgot about Old Fashion Cupcake - I really liked it.
On Individual Circumstances Jan 20, 2023
It's so-so for me. I feel like I've already watched this - several times. It's hard to invest in an unappealing person like Woo Jae. He's just rude and ungrateful.

I like Yeon Woo, and I liked Woo Jae's manager's hot body, but I'm shallow.
Replying to staywithme20four7 Jan 20, 2023
Idk if I like it or not. It's slightly confusing. They should make the time lines more clear.
There was only one flashback. I thought it was pretty clear - Yeon Woo couldn't have gone from a movie director sitting on Woo Jae's lawn to suddenly being a college student in a totally different place.

A lot of people are complaining about the length of the show. C'mon, these are small production and prolonging…
Short is fine, it's just that this is paced like it's long. It's 25% over and nothing has happened. That inevitably leads to a rushed and unsatisfying ending.

The acting was superb - no complaints there - my "beef" was with the writing. My top picks from each country are for Thailand I Told Sunset About You or180 Degrees Longitude, Gaya Sa Pelikula for the Philippines, Choco Milk Shake for Korea, Restart After Come Back Home for Japan, Addicted/Heroin for China (although there are only 2 BLs) and probably Trapped for Taiwan, but it's more even there. I also liked Where Your Eyes Linger, Semantic Error, Peach of Time, Miracle of Teddy Bear, Something In My Room, On Cloud Nine, Hello Stranger, and Country Boy.

There are many more, but those are the ones that stuck with me. Usually I like series that take advantage of the visual medium and don't just vomit a novel onto the screen - when there's a ton of internal monologue you know that's what's happening. Too often there's a gimmick, that works in writing but not in live action, like "A boy who lost his smile" in Oxygen. It's too limiting, and a bit creepy.

Airing right now my favorite is My School President - I'm really surprised I like it because I'm really over high school stories.

Agreed. But at least a majority of Europeans are not lactose intolerant. It's apparently an Aryan thing, because people in Northern India tend not to be intolerant whereas S Indians are, likewise S France is intolerant but N France isn't (Germanic origin of the population).

In short, it's not good for anyone after childhood, but at least it won't give Europeans colon blow. But East Asians are 90-100% intolerant. Maybe that's why BL characters always have toilet emergencies.

I didn't like it - it might have worked better if it hadn't used the same characters, because they acted like two diffent people. And then the turnaround at the end was so sudden and so unearned that it did nothing for me. I was like "that's all you have to say after dumping your bf with a post-it and vanishing for a year and treating him like dog excrement?"

"Sorry"
"OK"

The sad thing is that modern homophobia is emulation of the West, which in the 19th c. had superior military technology and so Asians wanted to be more Western. That's also behind the whole milk-drinking thing - almost all Asians are lactose-intolerant, so it must be deeply uncomfortable - but they thought we were bigger because of milk.

Before that it was much more complex and with less visceral hostility.

What happened? The teaser was so exciting and the new trailer is so conventional and watered down. I hope they're just reaching for a different audience with the trailer and it will be darker like I was expecting.

Not because he was old, because he was Korean. Even if he didn't have a problem with gay people, he wouldn't comment on it (unless he was gay and completely sure about what he was seeing). In fact, an older person would be more likely to say that than a younger person because he would care less about being seen to be conformist. In a Korean company, the lower-level younger employees dress exactly the same as each other and do everything they can to fit in, whereas higher executives (who are almost always older) are free to express their individuality - it might even be preferred as a leader trait, like Patton with his riding crop.

I'm confused why you always skip secondary couples - they're very often much more interesting than the main couple,…
Oh, I see. It would be "I always skip the secondary couple." "The" makes it a specific couple, and "couple" is singular, so one couple, two couples, etc. It's funny with languages - it's easier to misunderstand simple things than complicated ideas, because there's more context for the complex thoughts, so tiny grammatical errors don't matter.

But anyway, I agree with what you said, except I do watch the secondary couple. :)
