This is really lovely in many ways, and it doesn't just follow a formula. I love that the "shipper" was a boy instead of a loud, obnoxious, nosy girl, and neither of them fit a standard role. Pearanut is really sexy, and Nine is the cutest dancer. Anyway, I've loving it.
I love it! A younger male admits lack of sexual experience and is supported. I know that real life isn't always…
He's a high school kid, so it doesn't bother me (and it usually bothers me). They've made him innocent but not lacking sexuality - he was mesmerized by Boss working out shirtless.
Real world consequences happens the moment sex and love enters any relationship. Some people run, and some stay…
I agree, but there's a way to tell it, and a way not to tell it. The characters still need to act like actual people and in ways consistent with the characters that have already been drawn. If this story had been a fresh one with different characters, I would still not enjoy the first 8 eps, and I would still find the resolution of the conflict comically simple, but it at least wouldn't affect how I viewed S1.
Who hasn't been in a situation where you dated someone, received no clue there were problems, got dumped in a brief note, then he completely disappears for an entire year and then treats you like absolute shit when you find him with no explanation at all? I think that would be 99.999% of humanity have not. A better question would be "who HAS been in that situation?" And why would you subject yourself to the inevitable repeat? If Seo Joon and Ji Woo had agreed Ji Woo needs treatment and counselling, and they as a couple require counselling, then maybe - but as it is, the problem is going to repeat and everyone is going to end up miserable.
What kindness and maturity? All that happened was Ji Woo said "yeah, sorry about that. Hugs?" And Seo Joon immediately accepted that and didn't get Ji Woo - or their relationship - the help it needs. That's selfishness, not wisdom.
I agree. A lot of people in the comments easily forgot how bad ep 1 to 8 were, the last 2 eps. don't erase the…
I would be willing to recommend that people watch the last two episodes and skip 1-8. Then you can just pretend they had a minor fight and lived happily ever after. But if you include eps 1-8, I give them 3 months before they break up again.
That was abyssmal. The last two episodes were cute and fluffy, but for THAT you forgive the first 8 bleak episodes? Then why not just skip to ep 9 and spare yourself the misery?
A lot of people below mention exploration of mental health issues. I didin't see any mental health exploration, unless Total Personality Transplant is a thing. Mental health problems don't just go away, they need treatment. So what was Ji Woo's mental health issue? That he's an introvert?
OK, so JW dumps his bf with a brief note, totally disappears for an entire year with zero communication, then treats him like absolute shit for 8 episodes when he's found, and then here's the conversation that resolves it:
"I'm sorry, I won't do it again. GIve me a hug."
"OK."
That's it. No discussion or analysis of why Ji Woo was actually seething with hatred, jealousy and resentment the whole time they were together or more than a brief mention of concern the same issues might resurface. (Hint: they will.)
Correct, one of the major mindfucks for Vee, is that he feels he has no right to express a lot to Mark being as…
It was clearly lust - Vee resisted at first, then gave in, as 99% of people would in that situation. I'm glad they made that change, or it would be difficult to accept them as a couple. I'm still not a fan of not realizing you're having sex with a completly diffrent person than you think you are, which is entirely impossible unless you have a bag over your head.
Sorry but I don't think it's fair for mark tbh. Literally like him and Nuea were just talking and yk being friends??…
He didn't do anything. It's a coincidence that Ploy lives next door and so they saw each other on the balcony, and he didn't say anything. If he had yelled at Mark or accused him of anything, then you'd be right, but you're attacking him for FEELING something. Also, Nuea has made it clear he's going after Mark, which both Vee and Mark know, so it's not mindless jealousy.
Also, Ploy did feel guilty and left by herself, but that doesn't excuse what she did. But Vee only very temporarily stuck with her because she was hospitalized - because Vee is a good person, he couldn't dump someone that had just been hospitalized. In the end he apologized and went to Mark, who understood his situation - if he's OK with it, I'm OK with it. If Vee goes back to Ploy AGAIN, then I'll join you with the torches and pitchforks.
Correct, one of the major mindfucks for Vee, is that he feels he has no right to express a lot to Mark being as…
That's a great analysis. I guess I felt that they wanted each other from the beginning, because it's impossibe to have sex with someone and think it's someone else, especially after not drinking for a few hours and taking a nap. I realize that it's just written that way, but in my headcannon Mark needed to get laid to cope and Vee was there with his muscles and abs an sh#$.
Keep waiting to see from the comments if the show redeems itself but I guess it's a downhill slide all the way.
It's unbelievable. It's the same writers & director as Ep 0! What happened? I mean I expected Gen Y2 to be as bad or worse than Gen Y, but the setup for this series was so good!
Hmm. It still feels like there are three series mooshed together - a really, really good one (Kim & Chay), a potentially really good one that has had 90% of its scenes cut out (Vegas & Pete) (and a good deal of the main story in both those pots), and a bad, self-indulgent one that takes up too much time. My ears still hurt from listening to Tankhun screaming through way too much of the episode. And sorry, but constantly having everything interrupted (e..g. Vegas & Pete discussion, Porsche & uncle discussion) is lazy writing. If Porsche has trust issues, his decisions this episode don't make sense - the only reason he turned to who he did was to set up the cliffhanger which was telegraphed so strongly that I knew what it was the moment that person said what he said about the photo.
What was so great about the pool scene that everyone is raving about? Other than it being two guys with hot bodies, which is a great start, poor Porsche must be terribly unfulfilled if Kinn always shoots after 30 seconds and never gets him off. Unless he's also a premature ejaculator. Also, there are some issues with doing it in a small pool, but BL doesn't really care about gay sex. But points to the actors for committing to that scene, and points to the production for pushing boundaries. But I thought their first one was much better and more realistic.
So what this series needed was at least double the length. I really don't understand Vegas & Pete. Pete appeared to acknowledge his masochism when he had Vegas chain him, so what was all that this ep? Masochism doesn't come from low self-esteem - this ep appeared to be saying that. There is just too much missing from their story for it to make sense. BL seems to think BDSM is dark and evil. It's not.
How is it possible for this to be so bad? There is nothing positive to say about this series except all the cast look good with their shirts off.
It's not just bad, it's dull beyond belief and all the characters are awful. NIne is selfish bordering on evil, and Doanuea is a whiney immature little turd.
How could you take Ep 0 and come up with this? And if they subtitle the name of the production company again, I'm going to lose my sh#$.
How much do you want to bet the character Boat was originally named something else but they had to change it because the actor kept calling himself by his name (also Boat)?
Y'all are a bit merciless - why wouldn't we have sympathy for Vee? He made one mistake while drunk and being mauled by somoeone, who, let's be honest, not too many people would turn down. Unless you think kissing someone on the forehead is cheating. Hint: It's not.
Ploy had an entire other relationship. It's not comparable at all. And I didn't see any double-standard going on. Vee didn't like seeing Mark with Nuea, but he didn't say or do anything - is anyone suggesting he has no right to feel that way?
Wow, Yin was really excellent today - that scene on the balcony was intense. I'm really impressed - I felt how trapped and crushed he felt.
I thought when I read the comments that I would dislike this episode, but it was fantastic. What's wonderful about this series is it's not just a fluffy fairy tale full of fake 2D characters. This is about flawed humans that have depth and complexity. Compare this to Star and Sky, where none of the characters feel real or behave like, well, people.
War is cute af as Mark, and together with Yin (Vee) they are doing a dope job on this series. Needless to say,…
I think the writer understands - but people have double standards, especially when dealing with your sexuality. Vee views his gf as a cheater because she had a serious relationship with someone else, whereas he's just hanging with a bud (and making out and having sex). It's denial. Men are like that in straight relationships too - true or not, stereotype or not, men's cheating is for sex or fleeting crushes and they aways go back to their wife. A woman's cheating is more serious and likely to have an emotional content, not to mention the whole not wanting to be father to someone else's child thing. It doesn't make it right, of course, but it's the way people have looked at it for thousands of years. It would be nice if BL would set higher standards, but the stories are basically old-fashioned straight romances with a boy dropped in the woman's role.
