Their plan is to do an international release in January. That makes no sense to me, because by then fansubs like for Ep 1 & 2 will be created and we'll all have watched pirated eps. I don't get it.
Can someone explain why the releasing the episodes without eng sub? is it a budget thing? because when I watch…
It's really high quality - the cinematographer and direction are wonderful. Note in the scene where Valen is trying to help Khaitoon with his wound, the camera very subtly pans in on K, which manages to communicate his changing views on Valen - and then they mirror that later in the ep by panning out, with the same effect. I'm really pleasantly surprised by this.
I was not surprised at all that Khaitoon cut himself on the shards, because it's a BL and nobody can go anywhere near any sharp object without injury.
Aaaand once again a BL character is unable to go anywhere near a sharp object without cutting himself. That's getting old.
But otherwise, I'm liking this. Pak is so cute, how can you not? This is quite different than the usual dynamic - they don't appear to be pigeonholed into artificial seme & uke roles, which is refreshing. And even if they later do, this time the uke is very capable and the seme is totally useless. Or do you think they'd actually make the seme much smaller and shorter than the uke? That would be a nice change.
Anyway, this series is a pleasant surprise - but they're out of the minds not to subtitle it - we have no choice but to participate in piracy (well, we could wait six months, but... yeah, no.) when they could be earning money. They didn't even really promote this - what gives?
I just finished the anime, and holy sh#$, that ending... There's no way they can cover all that, so I assume this will end with the concert. It will take at least another season to resolve this story.
Finally someone who has said it. I also felt that people's comments towards ait and James are harsh. I think sometimes…
Regarding Ep 3, I think this was actually condemning victim shaming, not endorsing it. The pressure on him to come forward and the consequences of it getting out is what drove him to that decision. That was underscored by what he said to Marco before he hung up. I think the point WAS that it's up to the victim to decide if and when he'll come forward.
I'm not sure how realistic it was that he became ready overnight because of a good f@#$, but then it was Marco. That would make me feel a lot better about life in general, too.
While I think that was a flaw, I forgive it given there's only 6 eps - you'd need a whole season just to cover Bas' healing process in a realistic way.
That was Kaji's bf? I thought that guy said he was seeing someone else.
I watched most of it last night and will finish today (S1). The story makes much more sense, and the creators paid much more attention to the authenticity of the music and musicians, which the BL doesn't seem to care about, even though it's central to the story.
I may be more annoyed than most people because I have a music degree. And also I can get grumpy at times. You'd probably never guess that about me.

Last night I watched most of the first season - I'll probably finish it today. The story makes much more sense, and the creators really paid attention to music and how musicians do things. The BL doesn't seem to care about that, even though it's so central to the story. Like the broken string scene worked really well in the Anime and made a lot more sense.

I came here to check if the whole episode was like this. I'm glad I did and saved myself a bunch of time. Last ep could have worked as a finale with a few adjustments. Why is everyone wearing the same shirt? And why black? Everyone's hair is different, so some time has passed. And in the Behind the Scenes, why are Eak & Phob in the same bed? What happened to THAT scene? Actually, it looked like almost everyone was there.
Trying my best to be positive: At least it wasn't people texting each other. I'm shallow so I scanned through to see if anyone took a shower, but nope.
It has Kaleb Ong, at least. I also had the trip/catch/stare thing that BLs apparently can't do without. The only other name I recognize is Axl Romeo, who could probably be impressive with a good director Three couples in ten 25-min episodes makes me worried, but an efficent script can definitely make it work.
I wasn't prepared for how much better the anime is than this is. I thought it would be about the same, but it's…
Watching the anime does give me greater respect for this adaptation, but they had to be nuts to try to squeeze that into 6 short eps. It needs at least twice that. For example, the broken string in the LA seemed ridiculous to me, but it was perfect in the anime, and you can see where all the characters are coming from (except Akihito, which is a good choice). Also, I wish they'd cast someone more Akihiko-ish for Akihiko. The actor is doing a great job, but I feel like I should be drooling whenever he's onscreen. I'm attracted to the anime Aki and he's just a cartoon.
Bas needed to feel loved. I don't have a problem with him wanting to do that. Marco probably shouldn't have, but…
I agree that everything progressed too quickly to be realistic. But Marco has spent a lot of time with Bas, and very intense quality time - I don't think there's anything wrong with him feeling love that quickly. He's a guy. It's what we do. :)
It's really good.

I tried to join crunchy roll when this series started but I couldn't. Maybe there was something wrong, but it worked just now. Thanks!
