so I got quite a few messages asking me to tell them what happens after frozen lake scene IF the drama ends up ending it there. So I'm thinking of just making a discussion thread with the title "SPOILER: after frozen lake" or something like that, so that way whoever wants to read it can just click on it!! :D

I will work on it as soon as the last few episodes air (so I don't end up writing about parts that have already been shown) and should probably have it up after I settle in for uni (so probably/hopefully a week or two after the last episode?? sorry :// because I do kind of have to re-skim the last volume to refresh my memory and sort through the details lol) BUT I'LL TRY MY BEST TO BE QUICK man I just really love this show so much haha

If they follow the book, then he doesn't die. He actually has his own wife and kids (before YWY even does lmao) and his wife ends up being the one that looks after Mo'er while he and YWY are out there trying to survive country politics. I think he got really hurt during the frozen lake scene though(????) or was that a Yue Someone Else ..... I'm hazy on the details but yeah in the book he doesn't die

I am still debating whether to watch this. I watched the first few episodes and I think it's okay, although it hasn't really captivated me yet. I do like PA much better LOL. Out of all the actors, I only like William Chan (I think he looks much better in modern clothes tbh) and I have a hard time watching dramas when I don't like the actors. Cecilia Liu is pretty but I think her acting is kind of lacking from the first few episodes and I don't like Joe Xu :(( I'll watch a few more episodes and see if I want to continue. The special effects and fighting scenes are nice quite nice in this though!

I'm thinking that I'll first just list some big plot points (to satisfy everyone's curiousity) and then later when uni isn't too time-stressing I could fill in more details hmm because tbh even though I can read Chinese it's technically still my second language and not my mother tongue //sigh// so I'll have to graze through the book in detail first to give everyone a thorough explanation XD

oh boy this part of the book is very hazy in my memory so I'm going to re-skim this part asap when I have time in the next few days.

I think I remember the market place part, and CQ was even like "please I beg you just let me go back to Yanbei" or smth right?? (Am I even referring to the right part LOL) isn't there like a part where she is being chased by some attackers and YWY saves her but then she tells him that she doesn't want to owe him anymore but YWY is like "if you don't want to owe me then don't do something stupid and get yourself killed because if you're alive then you can pay me back" and they split off because she goes to find Chun'er and he leads the attackers away....did this part occur before the Hongchuan battle because why do I feel like the drama cut out this part LOL

I know this drama is ending soon, but I just wanna make a shoutout to everyone who's been watching this!! It's been super fun having deep and detailed discussions about this drama and I actually made a lot of friends on here these past few weeks too XD

In the book, she broke it off with YX right before the frozen lake part.

In the book, YWY adopts Mo'er as his own son, and later on Mo'er lives with Yue Qi and Yue Qi's wife. As for the drama, they may not get that far, especially if the drama ends at the frozen lake part LOL

I'm honestly not sure!! I didn't really read this part in the novel (yet) LOL
judging from comments on Weibo, some people said in the book YX actually goes back to save her (idk if this was actually the case in the book), some people say they will change it and have YWY save her, and everyone else is like I DON'T KNOW hahahahha

I saw this really funny comment on Weibo:

"If you (production team) wants to film a second season, that's fine. If you want to change the actors or even the original plot, that's okay too. But don't let me know. If it's somewhere I can't see you, or hear you or can't send you knives. I won't be able to bear it."

basic summary:
Yue Qi thinks YWY should send Mo'er back, because fighting will start soon and Mo'er could possibly get hurt. But YWY says that this kid has already lost his family and experienced life-and-death situations, and that Mo'er isn't really afraid of much anymore and that for people like Mo'er, their biggest fear is being left behind.

she says in the very end of today's TV version that she once did suspect that perhaps his plans were not what he said they were, but she said she kind of pushed that thought away, thinking she was wrong. She has a very long conversation with the Yu girl about Yan Xun's crazy plans. She's like "these are such crazy plans is this the Yan Xun I used to know?? No wonder he didn't want me right by his side" and Yu girl is like "he trusts you but he knows you wouldn't agree with his ideas and plans" (ok this is rough translation and short summary of their long convo lol pls forgive me) XD

And also the teaser for next week she says: "Tell Yan Xun, if I die, he doesn't need to avenge my death, because Chu Qiao didn't die in the hands of others, but died by the hand of Yan Xun!"

hmm yeah that's true
idk I just think that, she doesn't want to believe that YX has changed, I mean she spent 3 years living in hell with him and they went through so much struggle together, like even if she doesn't have feelings for YX, that feeling of friendship/comraderie/trust that they had over the long span of time is very hard to suddenly drop. (man this makes me sad lol reminds me of all the friends I very slowly dropped after I realized they changed for the worst) And I think that's why there has to be something that REALLY changes her mind......like probably next week XD

I don't think she's necessarily choosing YX over YWY, but rather she's choosing Yanbei over the both of them LOL she cares more about the poor citizens who can't do anything when two countries go to war. Like even if she did choose YWY, it's not like they can go back to Chang'An together either lol I feel that she wanted a home where she didn't have to struggle so much rather than choosing any one person.
