What a great article! Thank you for sharing it with us.

I'm a translator myself, but I work with books, not audio-video material. What I admire most about movie/drama translators is how they can translate sentences in short and concise way. With books, there's more leeway. But with subtitles, I imagine you really need to choose each word carefully and not let the sentences get too wordy. That, and all the while still keeping the nuance. Seriously, you have all my respect!

Dr Galileo series by Keigo higashino -already a Jdrama series but will really benefit with a Kdrama set up
It'd be great if they were adapted to grittier tvN/OCN drama. I actually liked the Japanese adaptation (the TV series and the movie), but they didn't quite capture the darkness of the original novels.

I didn't read her books yet...are they really that good?
Well, despite what you might expect, some of Austen's books are actually really funny. (Before I read them, I expected them to be very serious because they're "classics".) If you never read any of them, I'd say try "Pride and Prejudice" or "Northanger Abbey", and stay away from "Persuasion", which is much more serious in tone.

Even male readers put some Austen books on their lists. My other choice would be Elizabeth Gaskell's books. A…
Oh My God, Yes! It'd be difficult to top Richard Armitage's version of John Thornton, though :D

They are, and Austen really deserved her place as one of the best writers in English.

I hated Pride and Prejudice the first time I read it, though. I thought that it was just an overrated romance book. Well, her books are about romance, but what make them great was that Austen really understood people. Her characters read like real people, not just some two-dimensional archetypes.

So... are the main actors portraying an alternate universe version of themselves?? I mean, the names are the same...Looks…
Well, not really. It's a sitcom, and it seems that it's a common practice in South Korean sitcoms to use their actors' name as their characters' names. Or so a fellow MDLer told me :)

Thanks for writing this. I can see that you put a lot of thoughts and effort in it :D

Your analysis about the types of reviewers and readers were spot on, I think. I'm more of a seeker/doubter type, so I'm pretty much open to all kinds of reviews as long as it's not too general (e.g. "This drama is great" or "The acting was good"). Sometimes I even sought for negative reviews because most of them tend to be more analytical and specific in their criticism, if that makes any sense?

In Arabic Dunia means World. I have been wondering where this title came from and if it is a word from another…
Yeah, dunia also means world in Indonesian and Malay. I'm pretty sure we absorbed the Arabic world "dunya" to our vocabulary several hundred years ago :D

If only this movie ended with her breaking up with her fiance, I'd rate it a lot higher. I truly don't understand what's the point of having them together by the end.

Hey, thanks for the preview. It's very useful :). I'm currently watching Why Secretary Kim (which is much, much better than I expected to be). For now, I'm looking forward to Blues of Stepmother and Daughter, Survival Wedding, Takane no Hana, and Life. It might also pick up Life on Mars when it's over, depending on how good it is.

On another note, correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there another Korean drama called "Life", airing earlier this year, on tvN? Why can't they think up another title--its so confusing :D
