Lol in any makjang drama there's gotta be an art gallery. Not all revenge dailies have art though, actually, 95% of them tend to have fashion or food! (ESPECIALLY fashion.) It's rare to see a drama that actually focuses on art.

Totally ruthless! I love it lol, Eun-Seol doesn't seem bright, hopefully she grows over time.

Great first episode so far. Very high-budget and the directing is really good. I also like the acting. Hae-Ra feels very basic as a character, but I'm very invested in Mi-Ran and her ambition. I like that the pacing was fairly fast too. No comic filler (except for Eun-Seol's family, who I could care less about.)

Oh yes, I remember you telling me about that horrific case. And I hope that Aussie guy burns in hell too! 😡

I haven't started it yet either. I'll watch an episode tonight!

I wish she had a mole though... ah well, she has short hair, at least. 😂

She's the villain AND the protagonist! Like Light Yagami from Death Note, haha

Oh, the opening intro! Yeah, I just saw it, that felt VERY rushed to me. I wonder why they made it so... fast? Weird choice in my opinion.

I think I got it, episode 17 & later has to be in 2007. Idk why NamuWiki said 2003 lol. But why are they using smartphones? 😂

Edit: Okay, considering that the housing crisis happens and Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy (which did happen in real life!) Empire of Gold AFTER episode 17 is set in 2008. This is when the US housing crash happened (as Bush was leaving office.) WHY is the timeline so unclear 😭

This sounds hopeful... definitely watching later. What do you mean by the intro was too fast?

Nah, Jang Seo-Hee is the villain FL here this time lol

Her performance is gonna be amazing!

Just DMed it to you!

Just sent it to you! 😁

It is a daily drama lol, I love the solo and group posters much better.

I recommend it, even if you aren't into them. The plot is intriguing and the acting is highly worth it! Hyun Bin won a Baeksang Award for his performance.

I feel like the only ending possible for Tae-Ho was death lol, not every villain needs to be imprisoned. Some people just deserve to die!

HOW FAR AHEAD IS THE TIME-SKIP IN EPISODE 17????

I don't really care about Seol-Hee or her with Tae-Ju... no romance is needed. Even then, I ship Tae-Ju and Seo-Yun more. I thought Sung-Jae was gonna die because he's been pretty weak for most of the series. The scene with Dong-Jin and Min-Jae made me sad 😭 and now Jung-Hee has dementia, that is KARMA! As usual, the family table meals, Eun-Jung/Won-Jae, and Jung-Yoon/Dong-Hee scenes are filler & skipped. Can't believe I'm already at episode 19. I'm still enjoying this so far!

Yes I do!

Holy shit, that trailer is EXCELLENTLY made! Whoever edited it deserves a raise! (Such an underrated drama, too!)
