This is such a difference compared to where I live. Age gap relationships between an older man/younger woman are normalized here and you will see plenty of them around but they are also criticized for many reasons, especially the men who are involved with women much younger than themselves. Do you happen to be from a western country?
Oh the comment section is going crazy about the age gap lol.... falling for an older guy was deemed bad wrong…
Which societies label it as wrong and forbidden? Relationships and marriages with much older men are pretty normalized throughout the whole world. For example, take a look at Hollywood; it's not uncommon to see a middle-aged man with a wife or girlfriend who's at least 20 years younger.
isn't the order of cast messed up? the evil guy is ML? like huhhe's doing so much evil in the trailer and he's…
This wouldn't be the first drama to have a straight-up evil male lead. There's no unspoken rule in dramaland that says a male lead has to turn good and get the girl. A lot of viewers seem to think so, though, because you aren't the first one who is confused over the villain being labelled as the male lead this time 😄
Finally sat down to watch this drama from beginning to end. Thirty episodes in and I'm surprised by how well-paced the story is. There aren't any stretched-out arcs where the plot stagnates and is a bore to watch. On the contrary, it's very easy to get through an episode which is something that I find increasingly hard with more recent dramas.
Tbh, I stopped caring about her when I found out she only fetishizes gay men and pretty much threw Zhang Zhehan…
I'm not the person who asked but thank you for summarising the situation! I didn't know anything about it since I rarely watch her videos. Now I understand why some people in this comment chain have such a negative opinion of her.
How bad is this? That quack Avenue X won't even be bothered to mention this drama in her videos.
No offense to her subscribers and watchers but C-drama fans need to stop taking Avenue X's words and videos as the pure gospel truth. She has her own biases and preferences like everyone else and is not a neutral news source for all things surrounding C-dramas. If she doesn't want to talk about certain shows for whatever reasons, then so be it.
This might be a controversial opinion but if they can't manage to re-shoot the drama with a different male lead actor, I'd still want them to release all the film material they have. They could censor Kris Wu's face and use a voice actor so he doesn't profit from this drama. There are so many actors and staff who were part of this production. Isn't it disappointing for them that no one ever gets to see their hard work in this show?
I enjoy the drama as well because there’s no FL which really isn’t necessary here at all. The storyline and…
Well, having a FL doesn't exclude having strong brotherhood friendships. A drama can have both as long as the FL isn't written as a love interest but as a sister or co-worker with zero romantic undertones. I'm pretty sure there are K-dramas that manage to have a strong and smart FL while the two MLs are friends/partners with each other and there is no het romance😄 Most C-drama writers, however, seem to think if there's a prominent female character, she needs to be paired up with a guy. Oh well.
After watching episode 4, I absolutely refuse to see Ye Qing Lan paired with Mu An Cheng **SPOILER** → Mu An…
I assume from the very spoiler-y trailer that this is exactly what will happen. This may be one of those dramas where the female lead ends up with the 2nd male lead aka Mu An He for once and not the 1st male lead. But I'm open for any surprises 👀
The Jade Emperor tells Xuan Ji that since she was created rather than born, it's her choice whether to become…
I don't think she meant it literally. I understood that line of hers as her choosing to live a human life in the human realm because that's where all her mortal loved ones are and that's where she spent her past ~20 years. Also, the heavenly realm is portrayed as pretty boring. Teng She even said there's no good food there compared to the human realm and we all know much Xuan Ji loves delicious food.
When she dies, I assume she will get her immortal form back. That's what usually happens in other xianxia dramas at least. From then on, maybe she and Si Feng will go down to the human world again and spend another life there.
I finished this a weeks ago. Even WuTong turn into a villain, I can't blame him because according to Taylor Swift…
His feelings for her were pure obsession and possessiveness and had nothing to do with real, genuine affection, though. It's pretty clear the script considered what Wu Tong has done to Ling Long as mind rape. He literally stole half of her soul, put it in another body and treated it like it was his girlfriend. Ling Long never consented to it. He doesn't care one bit about her well-being and her feelings.
I totally understand liking villainous characters but Wu Tong's actions are completely inexcusable 😅
Does anyone know that the titles are to the opening and closing theme songs? Thanks!
It took a lot of squinting at the credits to decipher the titles but here's what I found:
The opening song is a cover of 等风来 (Deng Feng Lai), sung by 朱文婷 (Zhu Wenting). The closing theme song is 风的嘱咐 (Feng de Zhufu), sung by 姚朵 (Yao Duo) who seems to also go by 姚小姚 (Yao Xiao Yao).
Your comment says a lot about how women are portrayed in xianxia/wuxia/historical C-dramas. Not a normal woman…
On YouTube, I've seen a few Chinese-speaking comments, probably from Taiwanese or overseas Chinese people, that pretty much say the same things as everyone else about female characters. For example, they're also frustrated when a female lead is written as dumb and naive.
And it actually makes sense that dramas aimed at a female audience have more interesting male characters. A lot of women want to watch handsome guys being cool and smart on screen. You can see proof of it right here in this discussion thread 😆 Script writers cater to this preference but neglect writing smart female leads to match with them. They also seem to love the phrase "opposites attract", that's why we get so many clichéd combos like a clever ML with a stupid FL or a mature ML with a childish FL.
It does have all the typical tropes so far on the first episode. She’s a very disrespectful fl who thinks ml…
Yeah, it seems to be a typical hate-to-love relationship.
But I don't find her disrespectful during their first meeting. She's just not afraid of confronting a stranger. All she wanted was a simple apology because he accidentally broke her belongings, but he had the gall to pay her off with money 🤣 The ML isn't particularly nice or polite either.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong!
