Yeah, it's really disappointing when I read about yet another female-centric novel getting turned into a male-centric drama. Apparently, some dramas even make the role of the female protagonist less capable and smart compared to the novel so that the actor for the male protagonist can shine better and attract more fans. Which leads to viewers criticizing female leads for being stupid, dumb, naive etc. again and not deserving of the oh-so-perfect male leads. Hopefully, that's not going to be the case for this particular drama.

I don't know why the decision makers behind dramas can't just choose to adapt male-centric novels if they're so keen on making money with fans of male actors and leave stories with female protagonists to other directors and scriptwriters who can do them justice. Oh well.

I think it's amazing these rumours came true, lol. By the way, thanks for continuing to provide us with information about this show!

I'll be honest, I hope the drama will be better than the trailer. Some trailers make you look forward to watching the show while some others don't 😅

I think LHY was convincing in Love Better Than Immortality; he made me believe he was in love with the female lead there. He also played a character who was cold on the outside but warm on the inside. However, I wouldn't recommend that drama for many reasons unless you really, really want to see more of LHY.

Based on the trailer, this drama seems to be full of your typical rom-com tropes. I like the lead actor and actress, though. Might watch it when there's nothing else to watch.

If the romance scenes really get cut, I hope someone will leak them at least. Such strict censorship is really annoying.

Sigh, I love C-dramas but it also means having to accept that censorship is a thing. I can understand censoring political or anti-government messages in mass media but it seems so nonsensical to do the same for common tropes and romantic scenes in romance dramas, especially if it takes place in a fantasy setting.

Thanks for the background information! It sounds like it's not uncommon to change FL-centric stories to ML-centric ones when they're adapted into dramas which is a bit of a pity. Can you tell me a few dramas that have done that?

Because there's an audience for it, in and outside of China. Have you ever played otome games where you are the heroine and get to romance different fictional guys? Dramas with reverse harems appeal to people who enjoy these games, me included lol.

Despite the bad subs, we still click on all their videos and give them views. That probably makes MangoTV think they can get away with not hiring professional translators. They don't have to spend any money nor time on the subs but still benefit from foreign viewers 🙁

As an otome game enjoyer, I love dramas with plots like this one as long as they're well-executed. I'm looking forward to the subbed episodes 😄

Qian Luo is supposed to be a tomboy. Behaving like a man and shouting a lot is pretty typical for tomboy characters.

I thought the same when I watched Joy of Life. The FL in that drama wasn't even a real main character and stopped appearing in the second half of the story but she still got so many negative comments for being a bad/boring/weak FL.

It's like some viewers intentionally go into dramas with the goal of finding faults with any FL they see 🤣

Does anyone know if the subs have been improved?
I really want to watch this drama as it sounds like time travel done right, but this type of story definitely needs good subs to be enjoyed.

That's not really a big difference. The ratings for currently airing dramas often fluctuate. I bet after a week it will go up again. Then down, then up 😂 It's not an indicator for the quality of a drama. I'd suggest watching and judging it for yourself.
