With all due respect (and I'm trying to be neutral here), you posted comments bashing the appearance of the FL which, as far as I can see, is pretty much the only reason why you and other users are getting called out. How is it constructive critique to call an actress plain or even ugly? That has nothing to do with the writing, acting or overall quality of the drama.

I'm not a fan nor an anti of Xiao Zhan or Ren Min but all the mean and catty comments towards the FL are just unpleasant to read. You're free to share your opinion but other people are free to disagree with you too.

I knew some people would dislike her voice when I watched the trailer a year ago.

Maybe her voice will change as her character grows. Sometimes that's the case with xianxia female leads. They start off young and naive with a child-like voice but over the course of the story, their personality and voice mature to show their growth.

Since it's a low-budget drama that isn't expected to be popular, they probably just didn't want to bother to pay a composer and artists to make brandnew songs for it.

True. Any show has people who genuinely enjoyed it. I'll put this drama on my list and try to watch it with a neutral approach after finishing my current batch of shows.

Had a hunch this wouldn't be a good drama and chose to wait until it finishes airing to see if I was wrong and it's actually worth watching. Honestly, the way some of you talk about it, I almost want to see for myself how much of a trainwreck the story is 😂

Master–disciple romances are nothing new. Or are you talking about other things that gives you that vibe?

Romance isn't a big part of the drama, so it's easy to ignore if you don't like Lin Waner 😄 I personally find their little romance sweet and appropriate for a drama that focusses on politics, sci-fi and other topics.
It's true Haitang Duoduo and the ML have great chemistry but I think such a strong couple would perhaps overshadow the non-romance plot and the other interesting relationships.

Have you watched Chinese dramas from around 2015 and before? I've noticed they usually had more masculine-looking actors, either with bigger bodies or stronger facial features or even both, compared to many male actors nowadays. I wonder what has changed, why people seem to prefer the "skinny pretty boy" look more.

I like both types as long as the actor's appearance fits his role but I do have a slight preference for manlier-looking actors.

The character posters make me really excited for the sequel! I'm glad most of the original cast have returned. It simply wouldn't be the same without these iconic actors.

Still wished the actress who portrayed Ye Linger, the cool and loyal friend of Lin Waner, would have played her role again. And I wonder who's going to do Xiao Zhan's role 👀

There are FLs I also dislike but there are plenty I either like or feel nothing for. Everybody has different standards and expectations for a good FL character and I was simply wondering what yours are. That's all.

Are there any female lead characters you actually like? Almost every comment I see you make on this website on any drama is you criticizing FLs, regardless of what kind of personality they have 😅
