I am LOVING this drama! It's so good and the characters are so interesting and funny! And Hello! They played "This I Promise You" by *Nsync in the background of a scene!!! SHOCK! This drama just gained another 100 points. :)

And I am also completely infatuated with the way he speaks! It just tickles me how he gets all loud and demanding, talking down to Park Ha in that old Korean language!! How can you take him seriously talking like that??? hahaha! But he IS *so* serious!
I know I'm going on and on right now. Sorry! Bear with me. :)
And I also adore his sidekicks. They also crack me up, and I appreciate their respective little quirks and personalities. My favorite has got to be Yong Sul (the samurai-like guy). He reminds me of Tama-negi! A gentle giant!
And of course, I adore Park Ha. I love that she doesn't take any of the guy's sh*t and stands up for herself and is smart. Love heroine's like her!
Sooo yah. Clearly I needed to babble about this. There are a few small missteps I could mention, but so far, the pluses far outweigh the minuses! I'm 12 episodes in and I have not been bored yet! Shock!

I am *totally* smitten with Rooftop Prince right now! It has really delightfully surprised me! I wasn't expecting much and I actually like it a LOT.
YES!! The first episode was KILLER! SO many details and time jumping and plot set-ups and relationship introductions, and it never felt too complicated, confusing OR boring! I was even interested enough that I would go back between MDL and the drama to remember which actress was who in the modern era and Joseon era! Very captivating first episode.
And I LOVE the lead guy!! Oh my goodness, how he cracks me the heck up dude. I love his whole "high and mighty" attitude, which you can't blame him for at all considering his position and where he came from. He takes himself so seriously and it's the funniest thing to me! Standing there, head-to-toe in an old ass stone-washed blue-jean outfit acting like he's king of the world! LOL!

I'm glad you thought it was funny, too! I didn't want to be the only jerk around. hahaha! :)
Yeeeaaah.... Arang is super boring. I'm not really into it. I'm watching it steadily (at ep 12 already), but the story line does nothing for me. I think the costumes are the only things that I really like about the drama. And of course, Shin Min Ah is wonderful. Everyone else sucks though. Even Lee Jun Ki. I do like the Jade Emperor. There was a shot of him where he didn't have that ridiculous wig on. He is a CUTIE!! I kind of wish that he and Jun Ki could switch roles. I think I'd like him as the lead better. But oh well.
I'll tell you what's NOT boring, though! Rooftop Prince! I randomly decided to give it a try today and it's SO funny and entertaining! I wasn't expecting much, but I like it so far! Two episodes in and it's got my attention. Feels good after being disappointed with Arang.
OMG! Blueoaichan's review of this is pretty much the best review of anything, ever. lol!!!
But it's not really! Or is it? haha!

For sure Shin Min Ah is the best thing about the drama! And for some reason, the longer I look at Lee Jun Ki, the less attractive he is! His ears are really large and his face is super long and his eyes are tiny! He looks a bit like a rat... Wow, that sounds awful, but that's what's going through my mind. lol! On the other hand, the Jade Emperor is a CUTIE! Especially during a scene where they took that God-awful wig off of him! haha! I was thinking to myself, I wonder how it would have been if Lee Jun Ki and Yoo Seung Ho had switched roles? I might have liked him more in the magistrate role and Jun Ki as the emperor. But this is all conjecture. *shrugs*
I'm not in a drama mood these days, which mostly explains my low tolerance for Arang. So I'll watch Reply when I'm being less critical. :)

OK, when you have time, Look up a movie called "Blind." Then read the second review on the page. It might just be the best review of anything, ever. I just laughed so hard!! *such a jerk*
Hahaha! There are a lot of "Rosetta Stone" and "Trust Me Or Die reviews"!! Good article! Cute, cute.

Cool man. Thanks for all the book recommendations. You've got me creating a small list over here! :) It'll be a while before I get to them because I ordered a bunch of books used from Amazon recently (the horror! haha). So I'm going to work my way through those for a while.... I need to stop buying so many damn books. Do you have a kindle? People keep telling me about them and I feel like it's probably a good way to go. Prices are dirt cheap for kindles, and you don't have to worry about storing all the effing books somewhere. I like my bookshelves stocked and all, but it's getting ridiculous!
I'm caught up on Arang and personally, it's boring as crap. I'm sure others would disagree with me, but I don't think it's interesting. It's just a bunch of people running around in the woods. And everyone except Arang is either a jerk or coward. Bah. I'm pretty sour grapes about it.

It's probably a combination of too many dramas being produced, AND them being kind of low quality. I don't know. I just think that it seems rare for a drama to be truly original with a thought-provoking story-line these days. There are a few rare gems recently (King 2 Hearts, I Do I Do, Bridal Mask). But I know personally, I'm tired of the same old love-triangle, rich guy likes poor girl, girl pretending to be a guy, cool guy liked geeky girl story lines. Blah.
I'm watching Arang and the Magistrate, but I find that drama boring and typical, too. I think I just need to take a break from dramas. At least until another really good one comes up.

Arang is SUPER boring. You're being nice! haha! It's hella boring. And I don't like any of the characters except for Arang. Everyone else is either a jerk or a coward.
But my bias is that I don't typically like historical dramas, and I've finally figured out why. At the end of the day, they all boil down to the same thing: people running around in the woods while dealing with some silly supernatural situation. It's not interesting at all. And the supernatural graphics are very cheesy. For the bulk of the series I just laughed at it, but now that I'm at episode 10, I'm just kind of tired of it.
On the positive side, I DO love the costumes! I think that's what always draws me to historical dramas. The cool costumes. But then, everyone is inevitably in the woods again and I get bored.
This drama was addicting for me, but in that painful way. I imagine it's a similar feeling to people who cut themselves.
Yeah, that's because the writers ruined a perfectly good character. They do that all the time in dramas and books. The writer will vilify the secondary love-triangle guy to make the primary guy look better. Sometimes it works for me and sometimes it doesn't. It didn't with this drama. :(

Because I didn't like Domyouji. I only watched this because I liked Rui so much. And of course, since Makino doesn't end up with him, it was painful to watch. But whatever. *shrugs*
ep.9 and 10 were really exciting, i started to like the show again since i was a bit bored with the previous episodes
Oh that's good to know. I'm on episode 6 and so far it's really boring. Glad to hear it picks up a little.

See, this is why we get along so well, because you also notice things like earring holes in a period drama. haha! It's so obnoxious to me! Like, really? You guys couldn't cover that up with some makeup?? You know what else bothers me? The way the characters talk. Some speak in an old Korean Joeseon fashion, while the main characters (particularly Jun Ki and Min Ah) talk like they are in a modern drama! Have you noticed that?
But I'm not going to harp on it too much. It is what it is. I honestly didn't expect it to be this AMAZING drama. Just something cute and entertaining. It's not intolerable if I ignore the horrible fake wig. (And agree! The other dudes wig and beard are mesmerizing! Much more realistic!)
Lastly, HOLY CRAP! It's *totally* like Power Rangers!!! Hahaha! Cheesy CG and all! Good call lady!

Haha! Dude I love rambling with you and all, but I'm not holding back because of you! :) I'm just holding back because I don't want to binge-watch a drama right now. It's my own personal struggle. No worries!
So far, it reminds me SO MUCH of Gumiho! I'm trying not to make comparisons in my mind, but I just can't help it!
For me Arang is just alright. The scene you mentioned with Jun Ki ignoring Min Ah was probably the best moment so far! Totally agree with you! Otherwise, honestly, it's a little boring. The first and second episodes were exciting, but eps three and four are falling into the usual historical drama plots where everyone is just running around in the woods + goofy supernatural occurrences.
Plus, I really hate Seung Ho's wig!! I want to snatch it off his head, stomp it and burn it. Such a bad wig! haha! And seeing Jun Ki's earring holes bothers me too. #incongruent

Those dramas sound interesting! I added them to my PTW list. ^_^
Arang is a cute drama so far. But it's silly. It makes me laugh. In my mind, I'm trying not to compare it to my Girlfriend is a Gumiho, but it reminds me of it SO MUCH. The dialog between the characters is so, so similar.
