Sadly, I feel exactly the same way as you. I was really looking forward to this drama, but after a few solid episodes…
Same, but I’m used to disagreeing with the general public. It’s nice when I can agree and hop on the bandwagon, but most times I’m on my own journey lol.
I will watch a 100 episodes of something with a tight plot and good pacing, but most c-dramas (especially historical) don’t have enough plot to justify their episode count. That’s why even the biggest fans admit to fast-forwarding scenes, and I feel like if I have to do a lot of that, then it’s not a good drama. I’m also not gonna sit through endless filler.
I love this drama’s cinematography, music, and costuming. The acting is fine too, but the scripting, pacing, and directing leave a lot to be desired. I actually started out applauding the director, but they’re very much shooting the drama like a music video. There are too many slo-mo shots that go on forever, and emphasis on the leads— esp the male lead’s face. ZLH is stunning so I get it, but at a certain point it starts to feel amateur. There are other kinds of interesting shots that can be utilized.
At the end of the day, I’m still bummed this isn’t a drama I ended up liking because it had massive potential, and all the elements were there.
When did I ever say that? I think I wrote that after One Piece, it stopped being as fun for me.
Sadly, I feel exactly the same way as you. I was really looking forward to this drama, but after a few solid episodes it became really repetitive:
-FL gets bullied somehow, displays her strength, ML assists.
It goes on and on and on. Also, I personally am not feeling any tension or chemistry between the leads. Because both are so good-looking, I think it’s tricking people into thinking there’s chemistry, but there’s no sizzle whatsoever. No banter. Everything between them is simply lukewarm.
This is also yet another example of why most C-dramas should only be 20-25 episodes. All the episodes where the FL was bullied in the beginning could’ve been condensed to two or three. Think about that random butcher (not the one across from her) who paid those thugs to break her stove, but then we never heard from him again. What a waste of time!
I’ve been chasing this high for months! I need the four of them to do another drama with the same dynamics 😩
I’ve been trying to find it with full audio 😭 If I can’t, I might end up just biting the bullet and watching it anyway like I did with Hong Luan Yin. But Hong Luan Yin was special. I swear I blinked, and it was over.
I saw this actually work for IU over the years. I remember how insane and relentless the rumors about her were…
Yeah, people see how loved and respected IU is now, and don't realize she was fighting for her life during 2012-2015 (or 2016). The wave of hate was INTENSE.
I hope celebs continue to sue as well. People need to learn that their computer/phone screens aren't shields, and that there are consequences for their actions. Celebs aren't their punching bags.

Yeah, I’ve been into K-pop/K-dramas since 2007, so it’s been wild seeing how much everything has changed.
Before Jennie was even a thing, IU was public enemy #1. She had just become a super star when a candid picture of her and Eunhyuk from Super Junior was accidentally posted online. Eunhyuk’s head was on IU’s shoulder, and he appeared shirtless. The world of Korean entertainment almost imploded. Super Junior fans were after her blood, and media outlets were calling her a prostitute. IU lay low for a few years and also started suing people ruthlessly. I remember reading articles about the K-netizens she sued saying she was causing them anxiety and distress, and begging for leniency. And IU was basically like, “Hmmm…how did you spin things to make me the bad guy? Oh well, I’m still gonna sue.” She’s a 2nd gen legend. A picture like that would’ve ended any other female idol’s career. Eunhyuk got some backlash too, but his career is fine, which I’m also happy about because it’s stupid to lose your career over: 1. Human feelings and needs 2. Hitting the wrong button on your phone (unless it reveals criminal activities).
The level of hate people have for Asian celebs in general is partly rooted in culture. Everyone is stressed, and everything is based on “honor”, “shame”, and “saving face”, so when a public figure stumbles, people attack like sharks feeding on chum.
It worked for IU. She was downright ruthless about it, and had no remorse for the civilians she sued (and I don’t…
I agree. Sadly, sometimes “being the bigger person” only emboldens people who want to hurt you.
I think most celebs don’t do it because they don’t want to seem like they’re bullying civilians, and it can be expensive and time-consuming trying to find these people/bot farms online, and bring them to justice.
Agree, I think she should continue this hard mode. I looked into what caused her to suddenly do this, it seems…
Wow. I’m too tired after work to get online and make up stuff about people I don’t know. I’ve never understood that mindset…or having that much free time.
Wow, the comments here surprise me. So basically...• Being a public figure means you should expect to be slandered…
It worked for IU. She was downright ruthless about it, and had no remorse for the civilians she sued (and I don’t blame her to be honest 🤣). If Jennie’s legal team is as hardcore as IU’s was back in the day, then we’ll see a noticeable change.
Most of us aren’t rich. The last thing we can afford is a fine. (That’s why I personally don’t spread rumors about people I know or celebrities).
Threats don't mean a thing to Knetizens. Or netizens in general. So unless you live in the United Kingdom where…
I saw this actually work for IU over the years. I remember how insane and relentless the rumors about her were around 2012 and onward. I’d say they were as bad as Jennie’s. But IU started seriously suing people to the point where she gave them anxiety, they paid fines, lost their jobs…etc. And these were people in Korea! It cut down the malicious posts a lot. Now newer K-dramas fans don’t even know how hated IU was.
The average person is scared, and can’t compete with rich and famous people in real life, so if every day civilians started getting summoned to court by Jennie’s lawyers, and started having to pay hefty fines, it would definitely dissuade a lot of people even if it doesn’t stop everyone. (Calling celebs “clowns” or “dumb” is more of an opinion than anything, so you’ll probably be okay lol. Most of them don’t care. They care about spreading malicious rumors from site to site).
The first ep was amazing! Hope the drama stays that way.
That scene at the of ep one stole my breath away. The lighting, Xie Zheng's facial expression, the moment...etc. I'm tired so I can't think much, but I was really impressed with the first ep. I love the FL so far and I'm curious about the ML. The snowy, whimsical cinematography is also giving fairytale.

I still plan to finish it because I'm curious about how ML will navigate getting his memory back, but the drama truly didn't live up to its potential.
She's played tough FLs for much of the latter part of her career, and I think it's because she relates to them so much.
I hope celebs continue to sue as well. People need to learn that their computer/phone screens aren't shields, and that there are consequences for their actions. Celebs aren't their punching bags.
